The 'Doc' scorching single 'Wine Gal' is in the #1 spot on the New York Top 30 Reggae singles chart also copping the #2 position on South Florida's Top 20 singles chart, it has also allowed him to gain his first #1 single for this year locally on the Hype TV's Top 20 singles chart which it kept hold for six weeks also spent three weeks on top of the Richie B's Jamaica Music Countdown Chart and RE TV Dancehall chart which is still maintaining a hold in the top ten position on all three charts locally.

Speaking of local charts, his hot new single 'Gimme Likkle' that was recorded on for Born So Records is enjoying heavy rotations on the air and creating havoc in the dancehalls and ripping its way up the charts. The single has debuted at #17 position on Richie B's chart; it also sits at #15 on RE TV Dancehall chart and currently takes up the #7 spot on the Hype TV Top 20 singles chart after five weeks.

Local and international patrons can definitely look out to see him performing this summer which is gearing to be a hectic yet spectacular one for the entertainer who is booked to appear on several top events for July, such as Portland Jerk Festival on July 6, Reggae Sumfest July 17 among others. He is also expected to embark on a European tour in August right after his own show dubbed 'Beenie Man Summer Sizzle' on August 6 to be held at Jamalco Sports Complex in Halse Hall, Clarendon.

Here at OutAroad.com we are trying to find out which dancehall artiste is going to ‘run’ the summer. We have decided that the best way to find out is to get you involved. Just leave a comment to let us know who you think will be ‘sizzling hot’ this summer. Below is a synopsis of some of the artistes on our list.

Last year almost everyone readily agreed that Munga Honourable was sizzling. The ‘Gangsta Ras’ had several smashing hits that cemented themselves onto the tongues of dancehall music lovers. However, Munga has lost that momentum and this year won’t be considered for the ‘pick of the summer list’.

On our list, we have the fiery Vybz Kartel, the intense Mavado, the blazing Beenie Man, the relentless Assassin, the energetic Elephant Man, and new comers Bugle and Serani (Daseca).

Vybz Kartel has been one of the most consistent dancehall acts in recent time and has a plethora of hardcore dancehall hits under his belt. For this summer, we can expect a lot from the former Alliance member as his palette just keeps growing with songs that appeal to his ever-growing fan base. Some of Kartel’s more vibrant songs going into the summer are: Fatta Than a Pound, My Scheme, Trailer Load of Money, Money Fi Spend, Tightest Punanny, and Broad Daylight.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Despite a lot of negative press recently, Mavado has continued to be a dominating force in the dancehall. His slew of hits have been embraced by dancehall fans worldwide, and with him now carrying the baton for the struggling Alliance camp, he dare not drop it. Mavado is heading into the summer on a high with songs such as On The Rock, Money Changer, Gangsta Life, Born & Raised, and Nuh Bleach Wid Cream.

Beenie Man’s presence on the dancehall scene is almost never ending from he started his career. The ‘Doc’ is arguably the most consistent of our dancehall artiste as he always keeps current and is constantly prescribing the correct formula to get his fans going. For this summer, Beenie will not be focusing solely on Beenie Sizzle, but is also geared towards pleasing his fans with hits such as Gimme Likkle, Wine Gal, and Understand Yu’self.

Assassin have been one of the young dancehall acts to shine over the last five years and it is a safe bet that he will at least get a slice of the ‘summer cake’. Assassin has been consistent in producing dancehall songs that captivates his audience. For this summer, we can assure you that one of the biggest songs will be Dem Nuh Want Nuh Gal, and the cool and calm deejay has several others up his sleeve.

Dancehall just cannot seem to get rid of Elephant Man, and who would want to. The Energy God has re-emerged as a force to be reckoned with. For this summer, it is all about dancing again and already his songs Nuh Linga and Gully Creepa have crept up on us and have us dancing.

We will cap off our list with Serani and Bugle from the Daseca camp. The two have been dominant since the end of last year and is still riding high on a powerful wave. Their songs have dancehall fans singing and dancing up a storm and one can safely predict that they will be doing wonders this summer. Their palette include songs such as Serani's Study People, and Stinkin Rich, Bugle's Hypoctite (Cyaan Look Inna Mi Eye), What Have I Done, and Journey.

As a producer/singer/songwriter, Markkie he brings his own definition to music.

At the age of 16, Markkie was forced to leave home with dream and the clothes on his back. This is where his journey began. The road to fulfill his dream has been one of many ups and downs. After finishing high school in South Carolina, Markkie enlisted in the United Stated Army as a Military Policeman. While stationed in Georgia he found himself surrounded by people with the same dream, and quickly befriended the artists in the local music community.
At 21, Markkie was on the Saturday Night Mix Tape with DJ Al Irvin.

This opportunity opened doors for a local television show with two friends called "Hot Spot" on a local NBC affiliate, which is where he received his first mixing credits. After the military, Markkie returned to South Carolina and still with music in his heart he became the host of a travelling trademarked karaoke show called "Afro-oke".

With the popularity of fro-oke”, Markkie encountered many aspiring artists and was able to offer his patrons celebrity guest appearances by "Juvenile", "Prophet Jones" and many more.

Soon the day would come that Markkie would hit the stage as an artist, what he always knew he was born to do. When he was approached by a member of a local group and asked to become the fourth member of the, then called, "Diamondz In Da Ruff" (later known as "Diamondz") he accepted.

While with Diamondz, Markkie traveled up and down the East Coast, opening for industry greats like "Anthony Hamilton", "Mario Winans", "The Nappy Roots", "Angie Stone" and The Legendary "Lattimore”.

Unfortunately, while talented, the group faltered from the many pressures of the music industry.
And now, Cirius Entertainment Group, LLC presents to you; George “Markkie” Harrison, Jr. Well seasoned and ready to speak to the hearts of many through his music.

Rolexx and the other top selectas who are part of the squad are sought after all over the world.

Rolexx will be leaving the island to head to Tokyo, Japan before the end of July to sign a management deal with the Japanese company MIWA. He is currently reviewing this major contract with his lawyer. MIWA also represents the new act Mccowan as well as various Japanese artistes. The company is starting to work with Jamaican talents due to the amazing popularity and success of Jamaican reggae and dancehall in Japan. Especially dancehall and street dances are very popular and Jamaican artistes, selectas as well as dancers tour Japan regularly.

Rolexx has travelled and played internationally throughout his career but has never pushed himself to the fore. When asked why he does not seek to be always at the forefront, Rolexx says that he is not in the music business for the hype but his focus is rather on the business side of the game.

Rolexx does not need to run after any hype. He has built a solid career founded on skills and his popularity is still rising every day. With an international management deal and major representation in Japan there is no limit in sight.

The response towards our latest feature - ‘Lost In The Music’ has been fabulous. We have received tons of emails with lots of names that some of our readers request us to feature. There are names on some lists that surprised us here at OutAroad.com and we will be paying close attention to those artistes in the coming months.

This week in ‘Lost In The Music,’ we will be featuring Predator - ‘The War Editor’.

The slang “mad, sick, head nuh good,” raged like a wild fire throughout Jamaica, and even caught on overseas. However, as Bob Marley sang: “Yuh can fool the people sometimes, but yuh can’t fool all the people all the time, so now you see the light…” Well the world has seen the light and have stepped into it and left Predator in the dark.

At the dawn of 2000 Predator was so hot that even internationally acclaimed dancehall artiste Elephant Man and his protégé at the time Kiprich ‘borrowed’ his ideas and turned them into local hits. His songs Nah Nuh Head and Head Nuh Good stuck to the tongue of thousands and Predator looked destine to make it big.

His acquaintance with the Alliance, dancehall’s most notorious troupe, seemed as if it would take the ‘Mad Editor’ places. Well, The Alliance and its credibility as a dancehall force is fast fading and one cannot say that Predator’s career followed suit. What actually happen is that Predator’s career crashed into an alien before the demise of the Alliance.

People seemed to have gotten tired of his lack of creativity and soon Predator began to drift with the northbound winds. With his current status Predator is no longer high on the ‘food chain,’ and has fallen to being a prey of the merciless dancehall arena.

The last time OutAroad.com caught a glimpse of Predator he was trying to beg his way into a party, something he would not have had to do in his days of stardom. There was no entourage, only a mad soul roaming.

I will not pass any judgment on ‘Mad Head’, but what I will say is that if he is to come back into the limelight and sustain his presence he has to be creative. His coalition with the Alliance needs to have more meaning, as he seems to be the ‘go for’ of the union these days.

As the international reviews of CFW 2008 hit the press, websites and silver screens around the world, the New York Times’ is among the early reports posted on the internet. Hailed by the Times as a major success, Caribbean Fashion Week is featured in ‘The Moment’, a daily review of art, fashion and design. Lifestyle writer Vivien Goldman raves and gushes at the near 50 designers including Jamaica’s Barry Moncrieffe, the UK’s Gavin Douglas, Africa’s Deola Sagoe and the American rapper/actress Eve, who showed their collections at the region’s biggest and most respected fashion extravaganza in Jamrock’s metropolitan hub earlier this month.

The world’s fashion press was definitely attuned to the ‘pulse’ of fashion and style at CFW 08 and for Goldman, it was the local and regional designers including Guadeloupe’s Denis Devaed who gave “a stunning presentation of sultry jungle satin evening gowns and crinolines” and Jamaica’s Mutamba “flowing hand-painted robes that honed rasta chic” who earned top marks in her book. The Trinidad and Tobago delegation also stole a lot of the attention: “Its two grandes dames - the minimalist Meiling and the glam couturière Claudia Pegus were awarded CFW honors for their craft and quite rightly so…The Cloth, another T&T label designed by Robert Young, also had people talking. Cinched by nifty “tush corsets,” Young’s shapely white on white layers, sparked with primary colors, segued into crimson linen frocks and a rainbow print puffball cocktail dress.”

In a heavily oversubscribed CFW year, collections paraded down the catwalk, with each outfit exuding elements of Caribbean design, fashion and street style. All around, bright neon colors were in full bloom as well as the eye-popping prints. The moods shifted constantly among the sixteen or so designers who showed each night, who combined a wide spectrum of regional and international influences with voluptuous Caribbean energy. According to Goldman, “denims and African Prints were mastered by Nigeria’s Nkwo and Brooklyn’s Rebel, who stacked different African prints into tiered tent dresses” while African Connection designed by Gary Codner, “showed his signature on-point tailoring but also offered abbreviated, pimp-collared, leather jackets.”

“Paris and Milan no have nothing over we! Jamaica run tings!” writes NY Times’ Goldman, was the refrain among the thousands who attended each night. Government officials and “A” list film and music celebs, including actress Nia Long, r & b star Mashonda, actress Vanessa Williams and rapper / actress Eve, turned out over the three days of the event. The Pulse stars - Jaunel, Gaye, Carla, Oraine, Khalil, Nell, Jeneil, Shevolee, Nicole, Kimanee, Sunna and Nadine were also lauded by Goldman, “CFW is a rarity in that it shows no signs of androgyny. Yanking up their bold Yardmanstyle t-shirts, the Jamaican male models flashed physiques that caused mass hysteria in the audience. And the heavenly bodies of the vari-hued Nubian catwalk beauties appeared to be toned and silicone-free”. She additionally congratulates Pulse Star Jeneil Williams for her recent selection for Italian Vogue (a special issue on black models to be published in July), “Jeneil Williams is among the few blacks breaking the current color bar in American fashion”

She closes her review with a call to the deft Caribbean Designers to expand their market, a cause which was explored at CFW 08 in the form of the Caribbean Fashion Industry Forum, convened by Pulse, organizers of CFW. The Forum (CAFIF) is an initiative which explored the viability of the Caribbean fashion industry as an international business opportunity, to be pursued from a regional perspective. Industry professionals including designers and manufacturers met and signed off on the “Declaration of Kingston”, an action plan and ‘road map’ towards implementing needed initiatives. CFW 08 therefore proved not only to be a star studded aesthetic event, but also one that saw a deepening of important business realities, giving the event an even clearer sense of purpose.

Dear Mr. Proppa Fix,
I read your advice column yesterday (last week) and was impressed with the advice you gave to the young man. I have my own dilemma and would like your advice.

I am a 20 year-old woman attending a tertiary level institution in the Montego Bay area. I consider myself very attractive and most guys compliment my figure. I am also an outgoing person who enjoys meeting people.

I have been dating this guy for two months, he is a perfect gentleman, and he always tries to give me anything I want. He makes a respectable living and he is very progressive and ambitious as he is always looking for new opportunities. We connect on a social level, however, the problem is that he has a very small d**k - when I say small I mean that it is short and very mawga. The first time we were about to have sex, and he took off his clothes I had to search to find it- it was so embarrassing.

I know that he is sensitive about it because I realize that he always wants the lights to be off whenever we are having sex and he has had to resort to ‘other’ methods of trying to please me sexually. The thing is that nothing can replace a good d**k and that is what I am used to getting, as my last boyfriend was very well endowed.

I don’t think that it is only down to the size of his member, but he is also inexperienced in bed. I have heard my girlfriends talk about guys that have small p*nis but know how to use it effectively, this guy is just really lame when it comes to sex.

Now my major dilemma is that there is a young man at work that is interested in me. He is very handsome and I have heard through the grape vine that this guy is the boss in bed. One of my girlfriends told me that he also has a huge thing and he is not afraid to use it because they used to date and he had her talking in tongues.

I really like my current boyfriend but the guy at work seems to be a much better option right now because even though I know that sex is not the only thing in a relationship - for me it is a major part. I am so curious because of what I have heard about my co-worker but I am not the type of girl to cheat - so I am wondering Mr. Proppa Fix, what should I do?

M.S.
Montego Bay

Dear M.S.
Many women across the world face your dilemma. I have counseled quite a few women that say they love their partner, but their partner ‘falls short’ when it comes to sex. I think that sex is something that may not always be as good as it can be at the beginning of a relationship. It takes time for you to get to know all the pleasure spots on your partner’s body and I realize that you have only been seeing each other for a couple of months. It might be good to give him some more time, and help him to gain some more love making experience.

P*nis size is often overrated in the bedroom so I do not think that you should focus all of your attention on that for now. Focus on teaching him how to use what he has and you may be surprised at the results.

I would advise you not to let sex be the deciding factor as to whether or not you stay with your current boyfriend or seek what seem to be greener pastures at your work place. The young man that you described at your office sounds like he fits the description of the ‘office bull’ as your other female co - workers seem to be a little too well acquainted with the intricacies of his anatomy. Be careful of this guy because you might just end up being in his statistic book.
Think carefully about the decision that you take in this case because sex among co-workers can also lead to a very uncomfortable working environment should things turn sour. You should also consider the possible transmission of sexually transmitted infections since he seems to be involved with several other girls.

That is my advice young lady - tek it or leave it

Natural Bridge recording artiste Konshens, who is poised to be one of Jamaica’s next reggae/dancehall super star, gave a stunning performance last Saturday at the second staging of Sex In The City.

The headline act was simply stunning and his fans were reaching out to him and gobbling up every note he sang. The stimulation started close to 1 a.m. when Sex In The City promoter ZIP Jock Niki Z introduced Konshens on stage.

DJ Smurf from Irie FM was geared up behind the wheels of steel rinsing his Konshens interlude as anticipation crept throughout the audience. The moment ‘Mr. Winner’ took the stage the females began screaming uncontrollably. Blanks and screams greeted Winna, and immediately the deejay received three consecutive forwards.

Shouts of ‘pppuuulll uuuppp’ echoed throughout the venue the minute that Konshens began to delve into Rasta Imposter. This stepped on several artistes ‘corn’ but Konshens continued to thrill his fans.

The performance took a turn when one of Jamaica’s top female dancer Mystic, took to the stage. The men inside the venue suddenly sprung to life and many barked like dogs as she entice them with some rousing dance moves. Konshens made good of the opportunity, deejaying “Gal Yuh Lock Di Whole Dance Down - Di Way Yuh Shake Your Booty.” - the crowd roared.

Konshens capped off a successful set with How It Feel (produced by Birch) and simmered for Mi Madda.

Veteran deejay Delly Ranx also gave a wonderful performance to close the show.

Koshens’ next major performance will be at Reggae Sumfest.
