The Jungle Night Club in the Negril was the place to be last Saturday night as Spring Breakers and locals came out in their thousands to witness the staging of the Heineken Red Star Concert, which took place in the expanded area at the back of the popular night club. The event which was headlined by Grammy winning international dancehall artiste Shaggy also featured the energy God Elephant Man, Chino, Laden and fast rising artistes Timmi Burrell, Tiana and Ras Noble.
Elephant Man was his usual high energy self as he delivered what could easily be described as the performance of the night. He impressed the audience with a barrage of hits which included Get Low, Whine Up, Jook Gal, Signal De Plane, Pon Di River Pon Di Bank, Dip Again, Sweep and Nuh Linga.
Shaggy also delivered a very good performance which featured hits such as Bombastic, Angel, Long Time and Broadway. He was later joined by Rayvon to deliver several of their big international hits such as Angel and Summer Time.
Big Ship's Chino was also in good form as he performed songs from his growing catalogue of hits such as Never Change, From Mawning, Woman Pon Yuh Head, Rave All Night and Protected.
Laden who is also from the Big Ship camp connected well with the audience as he delivered Really Like You, Time To Shine and Working Hard.
Negril based singer Timmi Burrell delivered a very impressive performance, he had the locals singing along to his current video hit Why Did You Leave Me. He also received good responses for songs such as In My Bed Room, She’s Calling and Substitute.
New dancehall/reggae sensation Tiana also warmed the crowd with a very short but spicy performance which saw her delivering the very popular Skippin Feelin ft Chi Ching Ching and her new rising single Inna 2010. Ras Noble and Jesse Royal gave good accounts of themselves.
