International recording artiste, Sean Paul is reaffirming his dominance in three international markets with nominations for three influential awards. The Got 2 Luv U singer has been nominated for MOBO Awards in the United Kingdom, MTV European Music Awards and the Soul Train Awards in the United States of America. The artiste has been raising the standards of Jamaican music worldwide through the recognition for his music and has copped two wins at the MOBO Awards, one win at the Soul Train Awards and three nominations at the MTV European Music Awards.
The artiste, who recently released his fifth studio album Tomahawk Technique digitally in January to Europe and Asia and the physical version to the US market in September, has already received the seal of approval across the globe. Sean Paul is among five of the hottest dancehall stars nominated in the UK's MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards for 'Best Reggae Act.'
The deejay will be competing against the likes of Popcaan, Konshens, Damian Marley and Mr. Vegas for the award, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 3 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. Sean Paul has previously won two MOBO Awards for 'Best Reggae Act' in, 2006 and 2009.
There will also be stiff competition in the 'Best Caribbean Performance' category at the Soul Train Awards, which will see Sean Paul competing against Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Matisyahu and Cover Drive. The 2012 Soul Train awards take place on Thursday, November 8 in Las Vegas.
The Soul Train Awards recognizes top performers in urban and contemporary music. Organizers instituted a reggae category a few years ago, but later expanded it to Best Caribbean Performance. This is Sean Paul's third Soul Train nomination, having won in 2009 for 'Best Reggae Artiste.'
Sean Paul is among 18 top acts in the world vying for the 'Best World Stage' at the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) competing with the likes of Maroon 5, Snoop Dogg and Justin Bieber, just to name a few. The MTV EMAs will be held at Frankfurt's Festhalle on Sunday, November 11. This is the artiste's third nomination and in 2003 was awarded the prize for Best New Act at this awards show.
According to the artiste, he is pleased to be recognized by officials in the music industry for his work, as he continues to work hard to spread his brand of Jamaican music to the world. About the album, Tomahawk Technique, Sean Paul has previously stated, "I worked with a lot of pop producers and challenged them to make their interpretation of a dancehall beat while also collaborating with some artistes I've always admired but never had the chance to work with. The reaction to the album so far has been incredible."
The chart topping artiste is on his North American tour to help promote his album. The tour began on Wednesday, September 19 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles and culminates on Saturday, October 13 at Janus Landing, Florida.
Tomahawk Technique features the smash hit, Got 2 Luv U (featuring Alexis Jordan), which has topped charts across the Caribbean and Europe and How Deep Is Your Love alongside with Kelly Rowland.
