Trinidad was hot, hot, hot! And now he's back entertaining his beloved radio listeners. Bambino had a whirlwind 7 day, 6 night experience covering the 2012 Trinidad Carnival vibe. Here's a glimpse of just how intense Trinidad got for Bambino.
Wednesday (February 15), the jump-off spot was "Eeen Di Mas” where Bambino deejayed and partied with soca giants such as Machel Montano, Kes & the Band, Fay-Ann Lyons, Bunji Garlin, among others. From there the entourage including Machel Montano & the HD Family and Bambino were escorted by the police to “Bacchanal Wednesday”. While there he interviewed Kes and Farmer Nappy for his upcoming TV show, Bambino's World.
On Thursday (February 16), the FX Trader office played host to Bambino where he interviewed Lisa Mahabir (Trinidad) and Patria-Kaye Aarons (Jamaica) which was aired live on ZIP FM. Thereafter, he went in the streets and observed Kiddies Carnival in full swing. In the night, he was special guest at “Ignite” a party hosted by Tribe (carnival band).
Saturday afternoon was all about giving back to the children at the Uncle Bunji’s Carnival Fantasy, a kiddie's treat organized by Fay-Ann Lyons and Bunji Garlin's with a concert that featured Shurwayne Winchester, Swappie and Shal Marshall. Later, Bambino's toasting skills were fully utilized again to energize the crowd as fellow DJ Hypa Hoppa hosted his party "Scorch". The all-inclusive fete featured sound system Back to Basics from New York alongside Bandits from Toronto.
Afterward, Bambino validated Jamaican selectors at “The Dawn” with an exhilarating soca set. He started off my declaring that the word on the street was Jamaicans cannot play soca music and asked the crowd if he could play soca to which he received a resounding YES. Bambino rocked the party in a very tight 20 minute set with artistes such as Iwer George, Kerwyn Dupois, Benjai, Swappie among other soca giants in attendance.
As the night morphed into morning, heralding a new day of raving, February 19 at “Diamond Vale” provided the perfect ambience at the breakfast event. By nightfall “Mania” an all-inclusive party with performances by Kes & the Band and Machel Mantano was the next stop. Bambino chilled backstage with both artistes before they took the stage and took photos with his adoring fans.
Carnival Monday and Tuesday climaxed an energy charged week with Bambino being specially invited by Bazo aka Mr. Fete from the Island People Band to play on the truck alongside Raw Fusion (Trinidad) and Platinum Sound (NYC). This brought the curtains down on what will go down in the history books as the “How Jamaicans party in Trinidad during Carnival” file.
Mas Camp "Lift Off" tonight at a new venue, Stadium North under the theme Future Shock. Bambino and his alter ego ‘Trever Off Key’ are returning fresh from Trinidad’s Carnival celebrations having played on the Island People truck on Carnival Monday & Tuesday, and will be bringing his trademark style and mixing to the party.
