International superstar Mr. Vegas celebrated his birthday in fine style with a rollicking wild party at Oakland's New Karibbean City last week. The occasion was Spicey Promotions' 10th anniversary party and boy was it crazy!
The New Karibbean City is an incredible venue, warehouse-like, with high ceilings, and tall windows. Huge paintings of Bob Marley adorn the walls which are dotted with Jamaican flags and an imposing Lion of Judah symbol. The venue was packed and inside was suffocatingly hot when Mr. Vegas hit the stage at 1:30 a.m and the temperate spiked again. He started off with the aggressively infectious "She's a Hoe" and people shouted out the lyrics as they sang along word for word, while other patrons ‘daggered’ suggestively.
Perhaps recognizing the Bob Marley posters on the wall, Vegas changed gears and belted out "Buffalo Soldier” and a huge chorus went up. He upped the temp again with Hot Wuk and scored maximum audience participation when he got three nubile hotties to shake their badonka-donks to the Hot Wuk song. One of them jumped into Vegas’ arms and mounted him like a bitch in heat. The crowd nearly lost its collective mind, and lighters and gun finger forwards filled the club.
He closed his set with I Am Blessed before someone brought out a cake with candles. Seemingly moved by the gesture, Vegas gave thanks to a small list of people, waved out the flames, and jumped off the stage. But then he did the unlikely, he told the MC to shout ‘cake for everybody’.
But that’s just the way Mr. Vegas rolls. He gives his heart to his fans.
