Locals against Rihanna getting Raped in Jamaica - Man Down

Rihanna who recently came to Jamaica to shoot the video for her reggae hit single Man Down painted a distasteful picture of Jamaica said locals. In the video Rihanna went to club where she flirts with a guy while dancing with him… the guy however started to get too personal so Rihanna pushed him away, he then followed her after she left the club and raped her. Rihanna then ran home for her gun and gunned down her alleged rapist in the middle of the street.

rihanna_rape_video_jamaica_reggae_man_down.jpgSince the released of the Man Down, OutAroad.com has received multiple emails from dancehall/reggae lovers stating their anger against the video. As usual we went into the street to hear what others have to say about Rihanna's Man Down video.

"It's nice for her to shoot the video in Jamaica but I am not going to agree with the outcome of the story line. With a story line like that she should have went back to her home town with that because at the end of the day Jamaicans are already listed as bad people in the minds of many in international countries," said Carol Harris (Vendor).

Almost everyone that we interviewed disagreed with the content of the video especially Nigel Simmons who stated that Rihanna is not the only one as Drake came to Jamaica and did the same thing.

"All these people seems to be fascinated about is the bad image that they have created in their head about Jamaica. What Rihanna done was even more degrading, so I guess when a tourist wants to get rape all they have to do is book a flight to Jamaica. I can remember watching the news and when the broadcaster read that Rihanna was in Jamaica for a video shoot I was excited believing that this would have been a good look for Jamaica.

All they do is use the country for hype and ting, she has a bl**dclot yankee mentality. Rihanna my a*s ... I wouldn't pay to see her even if my life depend pan it. You use your "no-talent" self to get the money you want, but I surely don't have to sit and watch you!

I like this tune. Why you all being so negative about this video? In this video she is Jamaican, live in Jamaica, she wasn't saying Jamaicans are bad, That's not what it is about. It's just away of life every where, but only that she chose to do it in Jamaica...Moreover, it's not her first video in Jamaica.I am Jamaican, and I don't have a problem with this video...you go Rihanna!Anybody chose who they want to be with, yankee or blacky, or browny, it should matter at all. You chose what you ware, eat, sleep, get over it ppl. Christ Brown was not yankee and history proved what he did to her...Jamaicans, time to lift your head above literacy and read more and be more opened minded....We see other ppl but never ourselves. P:)

some people who are criticising Rihanna for ruining Jamaica's image never try n correct Vybz Car-tail aka The Joker (yes, from Batman) for destroying the image of a Jamaican man, and flooding the scene with filthy and tasteless music and sickening products, not forgetting stereotyping the epitome of a Jamaican man as that of one who wants to look more like a white woman.

We're not gonna bash the superstars for coming to Jamaica n shoot their video. i am a proud Jamaican, n i feel prouder to see my country in an international spotlight. i honestly dnt see the big deal about Rihanna's video. the video looked like it was shot in the caribbean, i dnt recall seeing anything that said "THIS IS JAMAICA" however i think producers n directors must be careful not to give the wrong impression of our beautiful country.

the people who are saying that rihanna video is protraying jamaica has a bad place is the same ones who know that jamaica is like that, even worst. Rape is a common ting 2 happen in alot of countries and rihanna video was not jus based on a raped incident. she also showed a lot of happy sides to jamaica, the beach, she and the kids playing, people dancing having fun and many other nice scenery. it is a reality, people are being raped all over the whole; stop acting like this and worst is not happening in jamaica, rihanna is not the one who publicize that.lets not be igorant people and look @ the bigger picture.

Why didn't she make the video in her native, Barbados. The things depicted in the video also happens in Barbados. All of a sudden she wants to be Jamaican in a negative way - F#@k that!!!

I don't like Rihanna I am a Chris Brown Fan. However I would not know this video was filmed in Jamaica if people weren't complaining about it. I'm glad she shot the rapist. Rape is not isolated to just Jamaica. Its like some one else said, may be its because the tune is a reggae feature why she chose Jamaica for the filming.
Jamaica done gone to the dogs people, there is nothing left to destroy and guess what we did all by our selves. Jamaican People don't stand for for any thing and we have fall for any thing.
Leave the girl and her song and video alone. Jamaica needs to clean up their act

The thing is we can't blame Rihanna she is like a puppet on a string i feel some thing else is behind this. She should have filmed it in Barbados and promoter her country. What happened to Queen Ifrika video daddy don't touch me there why that don't have 5 million view why they don't play it on bet and why it's not on the home page of youtube. I'am pissed of the gal fresh.
