ONE ON ONE OUTAROAD
Greetings my fellow one on one peeps from here, there and everywhere. You know its your girl Shani in the building again. Today I bring you one on one with a fairly new artiste. Patexxx is the name and music is the game. One on one went all the way to King Jammies studio where we got up close and personal with Patexxx. Here is how it all went down.

Real Name: Rohan Rankine
Age: I was born on October 18, 1983
OutAroad: Where are you from?
Patexxx: York District, St. Thomas
OutAroad: How important is a name?
Patexxx: It's a package. It haffi b sumn weh catchy, stylish, have its own soun, come wid a phrase… everyting affi deh deh. You kno like when Mavado did jus come out, you kno a him because you hear "Anywaaaaaayie"
OutAroad: (Lol) Cool, Why Patexxx?
Patexxx: Yuh kno seh a one a mi fren dem did give me dat name. When me use to go high school, dem use to call mi "Sizzla" but mi couldn't use dat name because it was there already. One day we deh a wi likkle hang out spot an she seh " A Patexxx yuh name", and jus like dat, it stick. Plus she deceased now so I jus keep the name in honor of her.
OutAroad: Oh cool, sorry to hear that. How long have you been in the music business?
Patexxx: Seriously, 2007/2008 cause a desso mi first start knock desk and ting
OutAroad: Name some of the songs that you are most popular for.
Patexxx: (Singing everyone) "Summer-time", "Party", "Memories" (which was my first recording) and "Party-time"
OutAroad: where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Patexxx: Just to establish the name locally, get an International break as well… you kno become a household name.
OutAroad: What is your view on the issue of Payola?
Patexxx: It fi cut out man!!! From the song good and make sense, play it.
OutAroad: Name some people who are very influential in getting you where you are at now.
Patexxx: Alliance, mi affi seh alliance. Bounty Killer a di one who help fi start mi. Mi go perform a Sumfest and Bling Dawg ting thru him.
OutAroad: If you weren't an artiste, what would you b?
Patexxx: (lol) yuh kno seh mi get a likkle work inna di bank… mi did like it still but mi feel seh mi woulda be a teacher.
OutAroad: what are some of the things that you dislike about the business?
Patexxx: It's really hard for a young artiste because they hardly give you a chance. Big producers refuse to voice young artistes. Right yah now a Baby G and a next studio out a St. Thomas a produce my ting, Syndicate Production.
OutAroad: That's true still…what's your advice to young artistes out there?
Patexxx: Just stay dedicated to the ting, stay focused, up to date, believe in yourself and jus do your ting.
OutAroad: What's your philosophy?
Patexxx: Hard work is the key to success. You can pay your way through still but a hard work mi seh. Jus voice till you hit.
