Damian Codlin 'aka' D-Major has been obsessed by musical sounds since birth. The term D-Major, comes from the musical key of "D", which is a major scale based on the note "D" and is a key signature consisting of two sharps. D-Major was used by many classical composers, by individuals such as Mozart, as the Key is regarded as "the key of glory" and is often "represented in gold". His first endeavor in the field of music was a member of a quintet called Q-T (Quality and Togetherness), however Damian didn't choose his name because of all the accolades, but the name came shortly after his split with Q-T. It was at the practice for performance, that a member of the band, inquired what note the song was in, and a member replied "D-MAJOR", seeing that his name is Damian, he adopted the D and added Major, hence D-Major.
He cites his musical influences from icons such as: Sam Cooke, Beres Hammond, Stevie Wonder and R-Kelly, all whom have produced a passion that has driven him to pursue music as his lifestyle. This was satisfying and again his thirst drove him to want more. He recorded singles such as 'People make the world go round,' Among the angels,' 'Sunshine,' and 'Won't Separate.'
With a keen understanding of the power of music he makes a conscious effort to endorse positive energy. D-Major through his creativity "wants people to feel good when they hear my music," and as such he controls the content of his material by writing his own songs. His talent has blessed him with the opportunity to share the stage with international talents like James Ingram, Jeffery Osborne, Genuine, Busta Rhymes, Shaggy, and Sean Paul to name a few.
D-Major is the newest addition to the Big Yard family, which is home to International Recording artist Shaggy and Chris Martin to name a few. Becoming apart of this family has afforded him the opportunity in 2008 to engage in a summer tour with Shaggy. The year 2008 saw D-major having two hit songs "Speak the truth" "Can't get Enough” for which a video was saw its way onto and topping several local charts, and resulting in him being nominated by several bodies such as: The Excellence in Music and Entertainment - EME's for best new artist of 2008.
He hopes 2009 will prove to be a golden, for D-Major, as his new singles "Room 7744" and "Money can't by love", "Real Friends", collaboration with Christopher Martin and Agent Sasco and "Wife Material", are being heavily rotated on various local radio stations, as well as thousands hits, each on My Space. Just like his name, D-Major hopes that 2009 will prove to be his year of glory.
