The St. Catherine Police Headquarters has named dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel as a "major person of interest". However Vybz Kartel and his lawyers Valerie Neita-Robertson and Tom Tavares Finson are now on their way to the Police station.

Below is a statement that was sent to OutAroad.com by Vybz Kartel.

I, like millions of other Jamaicans, have certain concerns about the violation of my civil rights and liberties during this State of Emergency, however, I will grant the police an audience this morning as they have declared me a "major person of interest", and placed my name on a list populated by alleged criminals.

The media is turning the relationship between pop star Rihanna and her baseball boyfriend Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers into a spectacle. Ripping a page right out of the Jessica Simpson/Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys play book, the blogosphere is speculating that the outfielder is in a slump because he is distracted by his famous girlfriend. Kemp is hitting only .196 this month, and his defensive play has slipped, too.

A few years back, the media accused singer Simpson of being a hex on her quarterback boyfriend, Romo, who broke up last summer. It must be a slow news day when these stories surface.

Alicia Keys and newcomer Nicki Minaj were the big winners at the 10th annual BET Awards, both taking home two statuettes during the ceremony held last night (June 27) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. However, the evening's real buzz centered around several captivating performances/comebacks, most notably Chris Brown's surprise return to the BET stage in an emotional dance tribute marking the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death.

Silhouetted behind a large screen, Brown was greeted by appreciative cheers from a standing Shrine audience as he took to the stage, gliding and moonwalking across the floor to several Jackson classics including "Billie Jean" and "Smooth Criminal." Then he became choked up and unable to sing the final song in the tribute, "Man in the Mirror." Returning to the stage to accept the AOL Fandemonium award, Brown told the audience, "I let you all down before, but I won't do it again. I promise." Brown had been slated to appear at last year's BET Awards but did not appear then in the wake of his domestic violence case involving Rihanna.

Female deejay Ikaya is said to be feeling good about the her performance at the event dubbed Colour Me Purple which was held at Pier 1 in Montego Bay, last Saturday.

Sharing the stage with Lady Saw and Ce'Cile, the up-and-coming artiste held her own going on right after a fiery performance from the bad gal of dancehall Ce'Cile.

Ikaya opened her set with Amber Alert before going into singles such as Good Up Good Up and closing out with Best Wine (a counteraction to Gyptian's Hold Yuh).

"I was really heartened by the warm reception I received. It's shows that my music is reaching its target," commented Ikaya about the crowd's response to her performance.

In other news the video for her latest single Money Ova Man is enjoying chart success on both Hype TV's VTX and RE TV's MVP video countdown charts.

The video is currently in the number two position on both charts. The single is also receiving good rotation on local airwaves.

Young Jamaicans Represent for Cancer Survivors

Singer and Songwriter Cherine will be singing a slightly different tune this weekend. On Saturday June 26th Cherine, who takes on the hat of Team Captian, will mobilize a passionate and driven group of young Dancehall- SOULdiers (members of Team Dancehall Soul), to help raise funds for cancer awareness, research and outreach at Jamaica Cancer Society's Relay For Life.

With several activities planned, Anderson is excited about the prospects. All proceeds of Cherine's EP's "The Introduction-Dubstyle" sold at the event will go towards the outreach efforts.

No stranger to giving back to her community, Cherine started her own Reach-One Child Foundation in 2003 and has been helping need-based students with supplies and partial tuition scholarships. Working with the cancer society is a first for Anderson. In addition, she is aware of the seriousness of cancer as well as its effects on patients and their families. Cherine adds "My sister Natoya was the one who told me about the event. We lost both our grandmother's to the battle but on a positive note, I know many more people who are survivors. Early detection gives everyone a better chance at fighting this thing so I am committed to doing all I can to help with the JCS's outreach initiative especially for people who can't afford to be screened and tested."

Pastoral Minister and acclaimed gospel singer Dr. Carlene Davis thrilled thousands in Canada last week at the renown Revival Time Tabernacles in Toronto, delivering another spiritually charged performance to the large gathering as the specially invited guest of Bishop Dr. Audley James, the church’s presiding pastor.

This postdates her recent trip to the African continent, where she and husband Tommy Cowan ministered in Uganda saving many lives while imparting the teachings of Christianity.

“This is the start to the many shows that I am booked for the Summer, I have to keep the fire burning, fire is purity, I sing positive songs to soothe the minds of the stressed” he said.

I love all the different things that I do, and I try to give a hundred percent of my focus when I'm in the studio, or when I'm designing. You can't give 50/50 or you'll spend longer on it and not do it well. I just try to give 100% when I'm doing a task."

The Tampa tart who claims Tiger Woods fathered her cub might want to muzzle her mom.

She threw a wrench in porn actress Devon James' plans to get the golfer to admit he fathered her now 9-year-old son by announcing Friday that the boy's real daddy is an ex-con - and she has the DNA report to prove it.

"Tiger Woods is not the father of Austin, my daughter's child," Sandra Jane Brinling told Inside Edition. "And that's what Tiger Woods needs to know."

Brinling spoke out a day after James filed papers in Florida under her real name, Melinda Janette, asking a judge to "establish paternity" of her son - and named Woods as the respondent.

James made the move after TMZ.com reported that a DNA test done eight years ago on her son proved another man was his daddy.

The TMZ account is "false," a source close to the 29-year-old escort told the Daily News on Thursday.

"The DNA test done in 2001 was on a man who is a white guy, a complete white guy," the source said. "His name is Matt. The test showed he is not the father, and Tiger has never taken a DNA test."

Kingston, Jamaica: Dancehall artiste Timberlee recently completed a sizzling run in the Eastern Caribbean. Fans there have been warming up to her performances as well as to her music, a fitting start to an expected hectic summer.

She began in late April, with performances in Antigua and Dominica. On May 21 she cemented her reputation as a competent and energetic performer with her Barbados fan base, after giving a commendable performance at the Party Stand venue sharing stage with Hip Hop star Rick Ross, along with other dancehall mavericks billed for the event. On May 28, she was in neighbouring Trinidad, where she did a special performance on the Treasure Queen boat in Port of Spain. Wednesday June 2 saw her at the Sting Night Club, in Gulf View, La Romain for a memorable performance on her birthday. Timberlee's welcomed presence in the eastern Caribbean is no accident, as her tunes are precious gems on the radio stations and in the nightclubs.

A humble and soulful Etana made her presence felt through a dynamic performance in Negril, Jamaica recently. Etana delivered a near one hour set with nothing short of stunning and electrifying music. She was in command with high-energy while the watching faces lit up with approval. The event dubbed “One Show, One School, One Love” is one part of a charity initiative which seeks to raise well needed funds to build and invest in education across several schools in Jamaica

The soul rebellion promoters also accumulate funds through their ‘Buy- A- Block’ initiative. Individuals purchase blocks, which they autograph and the funds are then diverted to school building projects. Its most recent project aids the Orange Bay Basic School in Hanover, Westmoreland. So far it's been going great."

Fast rising reggae artist Stevie Face will leave the island on Wednesday for England, where he is scheduled to perform on the first annual Uprising Music Festival. The event which will be held on Saturday the 19th of June at the Brixton 02 will also feature the likes of Freddie McGregor, Coco Tea and Barrington Levy.

Stevie Face whose real name is Anwar Hanchard says he is looking forward to his upcoming performance in England. "I am very excited about this show, I have a lot of fans in the UK the people over there love my music big time. When I touch the stage on Saturday night I am going to give my fans a wonderful performance, they deserve it. They have been longing to see me since last year”, said the artist.

Adult film actress and golfer Tiger Woods’ mistress Devon James, claims that Tiger Woods is the daddy for her son Austin James who is 9 years old. Devon said, when she got pregnant she was 19 years old and Tiger and she met Christian School program. To prove this allegation she never had a DNA test, but she says Tiger was the only African American man she dated at that time.

Dancehall diva D'Angel who's now back in the island from her stint in New York, last Thursday shot the video for her current chart bubbler 'Come Over' on the Roof Top Rhythm compilation produced by Rose Gold Production.

The edgy video directed by Dexter '3D' Pottinger sees D'Angel adopting the role of a female spy entangled in a web of love and espionage, interspersed with performances shots and some very fashion forward scenes courtesy of the stylist team.

The video shot throughout the thoroughfares of the Corporate Area including Princeville Plaza, Lady Musgrave Avenue, Knutsford Boulevard and the Hilton Hotel. The day saw cameos from video director Julia Braham, Sidonie of Zip 103 FM, upcoming artiste Versatile, Timberlee and popular dance group Shady Squad.

The project is due for release in approximately two weeks and promises a kaleidoscope of colours as D'Angel shows why she is truly the first lady of the dancehall.

It's now one year and three months since Ninja Man has been locked away behind bars for the death of 20-year-old Ricardo Johnson.

Two other men were also charged jointly with Ninja Man one of which is the son of the deejay. They are Janile Ballentine and Clayton Dennis.

On Tuesday March 16, 2009 at about 11:15 a.m. it is alleged that three men departed from a car who immediately fired several shots at another man who managed to escaped. However Mr. Johnson who was innocently standing at his gate got hit by a stray bullet, he was then immediately rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital but failed to overcome his injuries.

LONDON (CBS/AP) There's never a right time to say goodbye.

Those lyrics from Chris Brown's 2005 self-titled debut album could be the mantra for the R&B singer's international touring woes, after Great Britain denied him entry. According to the Associated Press, the British government's Home Office rejected Brown's visa request due to his previous criminal record.

Brown, 21, was convicted of beating his former girlfriend, R&B songstress Rihanna, prior to the 2009 Grammy Awards. Last year he was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service.

Brown was scheduled to perform in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham and London. Tuesday, promoter SJM Concerts informed the public that Brown's tour was postponed "due to unforeseen circumstances." However, SJM prompted fans to hold on to tickets.

They seem to be holding out hope that at some point Brown will get to say goodbye to the U.S. and hello to the U.K., to sing his signature tune for British fans.

With all the rave in the sporting arena being about the much anticipated 2010 FIFA World Cup Competition, the premier international football tournament, scheduled to take place between June 11th and July 11, 2010 in South Africa, it comes as no surprise that Jamaica and the entire dancehall community is revved up and ready to go; but what is surprising, is just how involved the females are; namely, The Money Goddess herself, Macka Diamond.

Karl Young, the Founder/Chairman of Jamaica's leading radio stations Irie and Zip Fm died on Wednesday in a Chicago hospital. Mr. Young who was recovering from a lung surgery is certainly another big loss for the music industry.

Beenie Man was released from the Hunts Bay Police station yesterday evening after he was granted bail in the sum of $250,000.

The Grammy Award winning artiste Beenie Man has been charged with assault after he allegedly punched Jamaica's #1 graffiti artiste L.A Lewis in the jaw.

Several years ago both Beenie Man and L.A Lewis had a serious rumble during which Beenie broke his hand after punching Lewis in the face. However, the two recently had a rematch with an almost similar verdict which leaves L.A Lewis nursing injuries once again while Beenie Man escaped broking his arm again.

Beenie Man is now on a plane heading for Europe where he will be doing a short European tour. He’s scheduled to appear in court shortly after his tour.

She dresses like Lil Kim, raps like Lil Kim, and even went as far as reenacting Queen Bee's Notorious KIM album cover in a photoshoot. Imitation, they say, is the biggest form of flattery. Lil Kim is exactly what Nicki Minaj wants to be when she grows up.

Lil Kim hasn't had a relevant record in years. Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj has been gathering reams of buzz ever since she signed with Lil Wayne's Young Money. By hurling insults at the younger, flashier version of herself, Kim comes off as a cantankerous ol' head who's simply envious of Minaj's success. And that thought is bizarre, since it's Kim who has the platinum plaques and enviable catalog that Minaj could only dream of for now.

Dancehall artiste Beenie Man is now in police custody at the Hunts Bay Police Station.

According news reports it's alleged that Beenie Man has been held for questioning following an incident which took place at Oneil's funeral where the him and graffti artiste L.A Lewis had a nasty face-off.

It is said that L.A. Lewis crashed into Beenie Man's Audi truck at Oniel's funeral…the two then got into a heated argument which turns out to be a first round knock-out boxing match.

Couple years ago Beenie Man and L.A. Lewis got into an altercation which lefts Beenie Man with a broken arm after he punches L.A. Lewis in his jaw.

The recent turn of events since the State of Emergency in Kingston was announced and the death of Voicemail member O'Neil Edwards may be the contributing factors for the reason I-Octane's single Lose A friend is now enjoying 'new life' in the dancehall. The single, which to date has been his most popular song is now one of the most requested songs in the past few days in the clubs and on many of the reggae programmes.

"I have been receiving calls from selectors and disc jocks about the number of requests coming in for it," I-Octane said. He pointed out that a lot of people have been losing friends during this rough time that the country is going through, surmising that they are using the song to express the emotions they feel.

"At some point in our lives we all have lost someone who is dear to us, everyone can relate to this song and that’s the reason a lot of persons are relating to it," the singjay said.
Lose a Friend peak at number one on most charts and still enjoying a presence on some charts such as Jamaica Music Countdown, Stampede street chart and Yardflex Top 10.

Billboard hit artist Gyptian is now nursing head injuries after he reportedly crashed off his motor bike earlier today on Molynes Road, Kingston.

The "Hold Yuh" hit-maker artist was rushed to the Andrews Memorial Hospital where he's probably still undergoing MRI scans.

According to his publicist Ralston Barrett a pedestrian reportedly stepped out in the path of the singer's bike causing him to lose control of the motor bike. He also added that he should be okay.

Gyptian was released from the hospital around minutes after 10pm last night. Even though the singer had a head injure he only suffered cuts and bruises.

Fast rising dancehall artiste Ikaya gave her fans in Canada a "Good Good Up" performance over the Labour Day weekend.

Ikaya who was on a three gig stint in Canada made her first stop at Miss Independent, held at Laroomba in Toronto, after that it was onto Passa Passa at Some Place Else Club in Bramford on May 23. After working up a sweat there Ikaya left that venue to hook up with Jamaican heavyweight sound Stone Love for Taurus Bash which was held at Speranza Banquet Hall in Brampton.

"It was the perfect way to end the evening as it was pure nice vibes in the house. Wee Pow from Stone Love and Jaro were nicing up the place," Ikaya.

After that Ikaya, the lone performer on the bill took the stage performing songs such as Good Up Good Up, Headliner, Clean Up and Better Wine a counteraction to Gyptian's hugely popular Hold Yuh.
At one point the singjay had patrons engaged in a sing-a-long as she sang happy birthday to the promoter Pictureman Lloyd.

"Trust me, I couldn't have asked for a better reception," she said.

Popular IRIE FM radio personality DJ Sunshine continues to heat up the airwaves in more ways than one. The IRIE Diva who can be heard from Wednesday to Friday in the 2 to 6 PM slot on IRIE FM, has been making waves on the dancehall scene since she dropped her debut single titled A Doh Care Any More a month ago.

Sunshine is currently receiving strong rotation on FM radio with the DJ Frass produced track which also features dancer turned artist Chi Chi Ching and fast rising deejay Unicorn.

Well, damn. Chris Brown certainly is growing up to be one fiiiine young man. And he IS a man now, for the older female admirer (myself included). His younger female fans will be glad to know that the singer officially declared himself a single fella yesterday on his Twitter. The 21-year-old was snapped last night (May 27th) at the Mia Ultra Lounge (Mia at Biscayne) which was hosted by Fast Life Fast Money.

Breezy is also on his way to the Islands. In July, he’ll be jetting off to Jamaica for his very first time performing at a Reggae Sumfest gig. Reportedly, he will grace the same stage as Sumfest favourites such as Shaggy and Beenie Man, just to name a few. Reggae Sumfest starts on July 18th and continues on until the 24th.

It's been about a week since Jamaican authorities blasted into Tivoli Gardens, the stronghold of Christopher "Dudus" Coke who is wanted in the U.S. for drug trafficking. Coke is no where to be found.

But now authorities have got their sights trained on a new target: "Passa Passa," the famous outdoor dance parties that Coke and his friends used to frequent, along with most everyone else in Tivoli Gardens.

The fabled parties are where Jamaica's newest dancehall tunes are played well to the crack of dawn.

Jamaican police are only talking about ending them between midnight and 2 a.m. But the mere suggestion of reining in the parties at a press conference last week with Jamaica's top military and police brass drew murmurs from a crowd of local Kingston reporters, and even a couple hisses. The police said it would be an uphill battle: Riots might break out, one frustrated official admitted into the microphone.

Passa Passa started up around 2003 in Kingston and takes place on the capital's streets as throngs of young Jamaicans dance to the island's up-and-coming artists of "dancehall," a genre that fuses traditional reggae with hip-hop, electronica and R&B beats, among other influences.

3 Kingz, the new Jamaican group to emerge from the city of Kingston, consisting of three members: Ramone, Curt and Craig bringing to the tables a mixture of melodies, harmonies and hardcore Jamaican flows.

Being raised in Jamaica their whole lives amongst each other, they have been together through most if not all turning points in their lives and always had a strong interest for music. Determined to let their voices be heard, they strive towards excellence as the youths of proud parents. Curt and Craig are related by blood and Ramone being so close to the family that blood would make him no closer than he has become. They shared the true meaning of brotherly hood. Curt and Ramone, being childhood friends, went through highschool together in Jamaica writing songs, and expressing their talents amongst their peers. They both had the interest of producing and composing music for years while singing for the fun of it not realizing it would grow to be something way pass their expectations, and Craig was a determined “deejay” focused on carrying out the sounds and melodies of the hardcore, retro, dancehall music being greatly influenced by Super Cat.

The video was directed by Shuttah Films one of Miami's top directors - while the track was produced by General who's shaping to become another dancehall/reggae genius in the area of beat creations.
