Often times when a new artiste is asked about his/her Media Kit, they usually enter into a moment of questioning. Questions such as, 'What is a media kit? What is it used for? How do I compile one?' are usually asked. So really, what is an artiste media kit?
According to the website, http://www.isound.com/artist, by definition, a media kit is a package of promotional materials that includes a review copy of your album/CD, demo, or official album release. Different versions of the press kit include materials suited for different recipients, as in music columnists, promoters, radio programmers or A&R representatives. The artist press kit is also known as a media kit or publicity package and its most important component is the biography. It is used for music promotion, music publicity, booking agents, and artist promotion. Tad Lathrop in his book 'This Business of Music' stated that "press kits can be in electronic form on DVD's Websites etc, and is known as the electronic press kit (EPK). The electronic press kits typically contain electronic version of all most every thing included in a printed press kit". The Electronic press kit is deemed an advantage as it contains audio and visual materials and such heighten the visibility and marketability of the artist. Another advantage is its flexibility and accessibility, owing to the fact that it can be easily downloaded when needed.

The gods are miffed. They just can't get no respect from man.
So big kahuna Zeus gets little bro and Underworld badass, Hades, to show them who's boss. The deal: sacrifice a hot princess or we unleash a computer-generated sea monster. But Perseus - half-god, half-Australian - is having none of this. So he treks off in search of something that can kill the beast. Giant scorpions, weird guys with glowing eyes, a scarred mofo, and one ugly bitch get in his way.
Or something like that. 'Clash Of The Titans' doesn't pay much attention to its plot. Neither should you. After all this is a 21st century ADD remake of a 30-year-old movie that had Harry Hamlin in a dress fighting off miniature plastic monsters with the help of a mechanical owl.
The 'LA Law' man is now action-hero-for-hire Sam Worthington, the stop motion creatures replaced by CGI nasties, and R2D2-with-wings dumped by the side of the road. But the smell of cheese still lingers.

Several of Bounty's supporters anxiously waited outside of the court house hoping that he would have gotten bail. However their hopes were shattered when Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser ordered the court officers to take Bounty Killer back to jail.
Bounty Killer's next scheduled court date is set for this Friday April 16.
Bounty Killer is internationally known for his "My Xperience," album...still one of the best dancehall albums and his billboard chart topper "Hey Baby" on which he collaborated with U.S. pop band No Doubt.

The two got into a tangle after Kadeen requested that she no longer wants to be involved with the Killer. The Five Star General then got Cross, Angry, Miserable and hit her several times.
It's also alleged that Bounty Killer was refused station bail after he decided to use his one phone call wish to threaten the complaint's life while being process at the Constant Spring Police Station.

Sitting in the front row at the first home game for the new season, the R&B singer cheered and whooped as her new love scored a home run against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Looking like a regular baseball fan in her blue Dodgers hoodie, Rihanna, 22, watched her outfielder beau, 25, intently during the game's nine innings.
Her attendance proved to be somewhat of a lucky charm for the team, who won the game 9-5.

Bankbook inna shambles yes it need a face lift
But wi affi beat di system that’s the way wi make it
Yuh think Jamaica hard farin a di same.
Above are a few lines Ikaya uses to describe the hardship that has developed due to the current recession crisis.
In the intro Ikaya reasoned with her friend Dada who lives in the US about her money stress. She then asked "mi a beg yuh a ting even if it's a bills or two".
"Nutten Nah Gwaan"
However to her surprise Dada who used to wash his car with Champagne is no longer the Flossin King he used to be.
Ikaya's Recession song which was produced by her record label/management will definitely connect with persons who once were on top living da life. Seven times rise, seven times fall.

Entrepreneur and female lyricist Grace Hamilton, internationally known as Spice returned from a performance in Florida less than two weeks ago, while last weekend she again left the island for a performance in St. Kitts.
Spice, gave nothing short of a stunning show, inundated with acrobatic moves and commanding lyrics. Also fresh from her recent video shoot for the song Back Broad, Spice says her upcoming singles will rank among some of her hottest releases. "Because my album is coming up in a few months, I have to be pushing myself extra-hard to get out there and do shows and at the same time record and do videos. I love the upcoming tracks I've recorded, some of which will be on the album, while others will remain singles and I hope my fans will love them as well," she said.
He has already racked up interviews with some of the USA's leading media houses and personalities catering to the Dancehall industry, ranging from: Vibe Magazine's Rob Kenner, of the 'Boomshots' section; Pat McKay of Sirius radio; Hot 97 Boston; Choice 102.9FM, Datz Hit Radio 103.1fm, Vibe 105.1fm and more. Mi tiyad fi see we hungry an' ah suffer fi di meal,

An' mi tiyad fi sweat fi nutten, but mi still a till the field.
(Kingston, Jamaica) -- Accomplished Dancehall artiste and head of the musical sect, The Alliance, Bounty Killer, has released one of his most prolific songs in recent years. The song, Me Tired, offers not only acute social commentary but also preaches a message of self-reliance on Romeich Records' Bank In A Pocket riddim. Some may even say the single bizarrely heralds some of the predicaments which recently befell the artiste, whose correct name is Rodney Price.
In sections of the song he roars: "mi tired fi dem tek whe we choices"- his United States visa was among those revoked by the US Embassy in recent weeks and "mi tired fi mi black bredda dem behind di steel"- the artiste was last week taken into custody on assault charges.
Producer of the Bank In A Pocket riddim, Romeich, says, "There are a mixture of songs with different themes on the riddim and so far everyone has their favourite song. For some it's the Versatile song, Bank Inna Mi Pocket and for others it's the Killer song or other songs. People will love the Killer because they love to hear him talk about their reality. No matter where you're from, he talks about something that affects you on this track. So far it's been getting a great response and we give thanks for that." DOWNLOAD MI TIRED CLICK HERE

Dancehall singjay, G-Whizz known for one of the biggest anthems of last year, Life, performed at three shows in England last weekend and all three earned him encore performances. TO DOWNLOAD GWHIZZ'S NEW SINGLE TOMORROW CLICK HERE
This was quite an achievement for G-Whizz, because, though his music has transcended cultural barriers, this was the artiste's first time in England. The three shows in Leeds, Eastham and Leicester, each outdid the other and proved that he is definitely one of the industry's finest to watch for the future. Each show's lineup also included Razz from "Razz and Biggie" and Serani.
Long overdue for some positive celebrity gossip, they received some today.
Star center fielder Matt Kemp made several public appearances over the winter with R&B singer Rihanna, but the crooner and the slugger steadfastly refused to confirm the two were an item. That changed today on Ryan Seacrest's syndicated radio show.
"He's my boyfriend. ... It's new and it's fun and it's nothing too serious. I don't want anything nuts that's gonna take up so much of my energy and time in a bad way."
Oh, and Kemp got some decent news on the field, too. He went 2 for 4 and drove in two runs as the Dodgers claimed their first victory of the season, 10-2, over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Kemp's now batting .357.

NEW YORK, NY -- Platinum Camp Productions, Inc. (PcP) along with the legendary reggae superstar, Barrington Levy, announce the release of his new single "Watch Dem (Murderer)" featuring Snoop Dogg and MIMS. This track is the second single off of Mr. Levy's much awaited album, "It's About Time," set to be released later this year. DOWN LOAD - CLICK HERE
Daddy Bigg$, President of PcP, worked along with Mr. Levy and Black Roses to produce this song which is dear to his heart and has a dramatic message for listeners. The track is a modern production of the Jamaican artist's classic tune "Murderer" that aims to bring renewed attention to the crime and violence that plagues the Caribbean island. Jamaica now has one of the highest murder rates of any country in the world. The crime in the country has detrimental effects on the citizens of the island, visitors and the community as a whole. The fear of violence has caused a decrease in tourism to the gorgeous island as well as lowering morale and curbing economic prosperity for many.

Vybz Kartel leads out with the title track, with an ode to currency that is sure to follow up his Good Life smash "Dollar Sign." Vegas, another artist who had a anthem on the Good Life, goes with a similar theme on "Jah Never Fail Me." And also as with the Good Life, multi-talented Serani built the Money Tree riddim and has another banger on the riddim titled "Got to Survive."

With the recent cancellation of the Visas of several prominent Jamaican performers, international reggae star and SoBe/Danger Zone recording artiste Jah Cure has been inspired to pen the visa blues and record the track Save Yourself.
It was 12:05 am on April 1, 2010, so Jah Cure naturally assumed the internet news he was reading about the Unites States canceling the visas of several top Jamaican dancehall artistes was an April Fools’ Day joke. He said: “I couldn't believe that the Jamaican government or the U.S. government would violate the privacy rights of citizens and publish their legal names, their birth dates, their actual Jamaican passport numbers and their U.S. Visa Control numbers, I did not believe it”.
Sadly, by mid-day on April 1st, the news was official; the U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica had canceled the visas.

The following is the fifth episode of a talk show programme titled 'INSIDE THE MUSIC BIZ' co-hosted by Thaddeus "Teddy" Laidley every Wednesday at 3:30 to 4:00pm. The programme is aired on HOT 102 FM during "THE HOT MIX", with Richie B 2:00 to 5:00 PM. 'INSIDE THE MUSIC BIZ' is aimed at offering insights into the music business for aspiring artistes and industry personnel.
The phrase, "and the award goes to" has began to trill our minds, and so I presume, adrenaline’s are now in overdrive as we approach the award season in the music industry; Artistes, Industry players and fans are at their P's and Q's as they anticipate the name's behind the phrase.
There are a number of award shows surrounding the music industry both locally and internationally, however, there are four main ones; The Grammy Awards, The American Music Awards, The Billboard Music Awards and our locally established yet renowned, Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards, the EME's. These award ceremonies are held to celebrate the achievements and contributions of persons within the entertainment industry.
One may consider the process of selecting the nominees to be awarded, bias or unfair as such process is influenced by favoritism. In effort to change such mindset we must take in consideration how these awards are categorized and what method of selection is been undertaken. The 2008 Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME’s) will recognize the achievements of the top performers from within the recording industry between October 01, 2006 and September 30, 2007. Nominees for the EME awards are determined based on their performance on The Weekly Jamaica Music Countdown which is presented on Hot 102 FM every Friday afternoon during the Hot Mix hosted by Richie B.
Beenie Man recently went into the studio to pen a song that is lyrically aimed at the US Embassy.
Beenie Man boasted in the song that life still goes on without a US work permit or visitor’s visa.

The song which was produced by Ricky Blaze is now sitting in the number sixty nine position on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop chart. It is also number one on Billboard’s recently launched Digital Genre charts, reggae chart.
A music video was recently shot in support of Hold Yuh in Kingston, under the direction of Rick Elgood. The video is already in rotation locally and has been getting a very positive response.
2009 Heineken Green Synergy quarter finalist DJ Shine continued his winning ways recently over the Easter weekend. Shine who has worked up an impressive resume over the past seven months, appearing at several high profile events, kept patrons on a musical high at events including Blackout, Rapids and Ink.
Blackout which was held at the Quad nightclub on April 1, saw DJ Shine working up a storm inside the Voodoo lounge with an avalanche of hip hop, dancehall and reggae tunes.
His next stop was at Rapids at Reggae Beach in Ocho Rios, where he turned up the heat with a flood of dancehall treats both current and past, which saw patrons early on the scene, dancing in wild abandonment.
David Brooks, pka Mavado, was involved in a vehicular accident on Sunday evening, in the Manor Park area of Kingston.
Mavado was travelling on his motorcycle in a convoy of other vehicles at around 5pm when a female driver decided to turn into her driveway, cutting across his lane. Mavado did what he could to take evasive action but could not avoid the collision with the oncoming car. Mavado was immediately taken to the Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston where he underwent treatment for some minor cuts and bruises. Doctors also did several X-rays which thankfully all came back as showing everything normal.
He left hospital a little sore around 8.45 Sunday night to return home and get some rest. Mavado will be a little sore for a couple of days but it could've been a lot worse. As our priority was to ensure Mavado had medical assistance, we are unsure ,as of now, if a report was made to the police regarding the accident and what is to become of the driver.
Mavado is expected to be up on his feet and four (4) wheels and in the vocal booth within the coming days.....

"We haven't seen an artist like Gaga in a long time, we haven’t seen an artist that really has no fear. I remember Michael Jackson used to tell me he was crucified for doing 'Thriller', but he had to do what he felt was needed at that time. I’m just happy to be part of history,” contactmusic.com quoted Jerkins as saying.
"I've always wanted to leave my stamp on music, and to be able to say that I worked with Michael Jackson and now I’m working with Lady Gaga, who’ll probably go down in history as one of the best female entertainers of all time."
In the wake of announcing their 35th anniversary celebration tour, Third World embarked on a rigorous schedule for 2010 that has them traveling to Spain, Belgium, Poland and Australia. In typical Third World fashion, the reggae ambassadors set the tone for what fans could expect when they performed to sold-out crowds in St. Thomas and British Virgin Islands on March 26th and 27th respectively.
No strangers to the Virgin Islands, a place that is a second home to the group, the band was welcomed with open arms. And even though the band performed on the island four months earlier, media outlets requested that the band make themselves available for radio and television interviews and fans clamored to purchase tickets - a true testament of their loyal fan base.
