Ginjah Sings For The People of Haiti

Ginjah_chin_reggae.jpgReggae artist Valentine Nakrumah Fraser more popularly known as Ginjah recently recorded and released a new song entitled Desperate In Need. The song which was done on the gun powder rhythm is produced by Paul Low-Chin of Chiney K Productions and was done in tribute to the people of Haiti who are still trying to recover from the devastating earthquake which ravaged their island home on the 12th of January 2010. Desperate In Need has been enjoying good rotation on major radio stations both locally and overseas since its release and is available on Amazon.com. In another two weeks it will also be available on iTunes, Napster and Emusic. All proceeds from the sale of the song will go to the Scotia Haiti Fund.

A music video was recently shot in support of Desperate In Need, at several locations across Kingston under the guidance of Paul Low-Chin, who also wears the hat of music video director. The music video will be released to all television stations next week.

Ginjah was discovered by reggae balladeer extraordinaire Beres Hammond in 1999, whom while relishing the spiciness in the young artiste's voice, also noted Fraser's craving for the popular Jamaican brew known as ginger beer; hence his decision to give him the moniker Ginjah. Ginjah began recording in 2000 under the Hammond's Harmony House recording label. During his tenure in the Harmony House camp he also toured with Beres Hammond performing across the Caribbean, Canada, the USA, Japan and Europe.

Ginjah will be leaving the island for a tour of Europe next week which will see him on the road for over a month performing in countries such as France, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Spain.
