Reggae star Richie Spice recently wrapped up the shooting of his latest music video, which was shot in support of his hot single titled Trouble In The World which was produced by Florida based Master One Productions. The music video was shot at various locations across Kingston and St. Andrew including Cherry Gardens and Belvedere under the direction of Florida based music video director Elite. The music video is expected to be released before the end of March.

Trouble In The World is one of the leading songs on the hot First Born rhythm compilation that was produced and released by Master One Productions. The compilation which features several other big name reggae acts such Luciano and Sizzla is one of the fastest selling reggae albums on iTunes.

Richie Spice is currently preparing for an upcoming tour of Europe and he is also booked for several one off dates throughout the Caribbean and Central America.

Hit making reggae artist Jah Cure will be returning to Negril for his second appearance on the Negril One Love Reggae Concert winter series, on the Tuesday the 2nd of March at the Negril Escape Resort. Jah Cure delivered a very good performance when he made his first appearance on the weekly concert series in December. Therefore it is widely expected that he will give more of the same this time around. Armed with an ever growing catalogue of hits that includes songs such as Sunny Day, King In This Jungle, Trodding The Valley, Reflections, Journey, Call On Me and You’ll Never Find Jah Cure never fails to please his growing throng of fans when he hits the stage whether locally and abroad.

Carey Wallace who is the promoter of the Negril One Love Reggae Concert winter series firmly believes in the unearthing and development of new acts. Therefore it is customary for each show in the series to feature talented newcomers as well. The opening acts for this concert will be the fast rising dancehall group A.S.K, Jah Earlocks and Bada Bada.

Shaggy will be headlining the Heineken Red Star Concert which will be held at the Jungle Night Club in Negril on Saturday the 6th of March.

This event will also feature Elephant Man, Chino, Laden, Timmi Burrell and Ras Noble. Music will be provided by resident DJ Rusty Killa and DJ Shine.

Angered by today's shooting incident concerning former Portmore Empire member, Dancehall deejay Blak Ryno in the Waterford Community of Portmore, St. Catherine, Adidjahiem Records President and Portmore Empire leader Vybz Kartel condemns the attack, and issues a firm warning to those who seek to harm the artist:

"I condemn today's shooting in Waterford, and I condemn any attack made on Blak Ryno," states Kartel firmly. "Regardless of what transpires between the Portmore Empire and Blak Ryno, whether or not he is a part of the Empire, I will not tolerate any acts of violence against him. ANYBODY who does ANYTHING to Ryno has to answer to me."

Earlier today, the Waterford Police confirmed that shots were fired into a house believed to belong to the family of Romaine "Blak Ryno" Anderson. No one was injured. The incident is currently under investigation.

Captain Barky who is a member of the famous dancehall duo Captain Barkey and Wicker Man is known for his witty lyrics and his hilarious stage antics. Over the years he and his partner in crime Wicker Man have scored numerous hits as a duo, they have also done several successful solo projects. Captain Barkey’s hits include songs such as Bun Fi Bun, Go Go Wine, Pose Gal Pickney, Anti-Christ and Go Go Macarena.

Captain Barkey seems poised for more solo success as one of his latest singles titled She Nah Lef Joe on Truck Back Records’ Steel Frog rhythm is getting crazy rotation on radio stations both locally and abroad; it is also causing quite a stir in the dancehall.

Captain Barkey is also receiving strong rotation with other singles such as Care Yuh Pickney which was produced Delly Ranx on the Shaolin Temple rhythm and Mek Yuh Bumper Roll done in tandem with Gyptian, this single was produced by Don Sniper on his Jamaica Live Soca rhythm.

A Florida woman prominently featured in a homemade sex tape posted online by 50 Cent last year as part of his feud with Rick Ross has sued 50 (born Curtis Jackson) in New York City, claiming he unlawfully distributed the video over the Internet.

According to The Associated Press, Lastonia Leviston filed the lawsuit on Wednesday in Manhattan, claiming unauthorized use of her name or image and emotional distress caused by the public release of a video she made with an unidentified man in 2008. In the tape, Leviston is seen showing off a tattoo on her chest with the initials "RR," seemingly in reference to Ross, and 50 is heard providing exaggerated voice-over narration to the action in his wigged "Pimpin' Curly" persona.

In the lawsuit, Leviston claims the rapper posted the video on ThisIs50.com last year, blurring out the face of the man in the tape but not hers, and that 50 edited himself into the video.

There was hardly any space to be found inside the Negril Escape Resort last Tuesday night as dancehall superstar Shaggy performed to a packed house at the weekly Negril One Love Reggae Concert winter series. Shaggy’s performance took the series to a new level, his act was indeed a very exciting one; no wonder he is such a revered star world wide. From the moment he touched the stage at 10:45 PM Shaggy treated the audience to a very energetic set that included hits such as Boombastic, Oh Carolina, Sexy Lady, Church Heathen, Fly High, Sweet girl, Angel, Summer Time, It Wasn’t Me and Strength Of A Woman. During his set Shaggy was joined on stage by Rayvon to deliver several of their chart topping duets.

The patrons could not get enough Shaggy even after he returned to the stage for a well deserved encore they still wanted more.

Before Shaggy's performance the audience was treated to some decent performances by up-coming artists Mr. Peck, Escapade and Terry Wonder. Next week's show will feature top flight reggae act Jah Cure who will be making his second appearance since the series began last November.

Flava Squad Entertainment will be staging their 4th annual Family Fun day/ Car Sound Clash, on the 3rd of April 2010 at Independence Park in Black River, St. Elizabeth, dubbed HYPE 2K10. This year’s staging will be even bigger and better as the promoters of the event will be doing everything possible to enhance and maintain the usual high production standards that are synonymous with the HYPE 2K brand of events. For the last three years the promoters have treated music lovers in southern Jamaica to some very exciting events featuring top acts such as Bounty Killer, Mavado, Rick Ross, Sizzla, Vybz Kartel, Elephant Man, Busy Signal along with top vintage acts such as Ken Booth and John Holt.

Not even the threat of rain could dampen the vibes inside the Negril Escape Resort last Tuesday night, as Tarrus Riley who was making his second appearance on the Negril One Love Reggae Concert winter series rocked the house. Tarrus Riley gave another awesome performance inside the same venue where kicked off the series of concerts last November. Singing hits such as Lion Paw, Start A New, Beware, Good Girl Gone Bad, Contagious, Stay With You, She’s Royal and We Got It Going On he could do no wrong. His hour long performance also featured his now customary clash with his musical director saxophonist extraordinaire Dean Fraser and when his act came to an end the patrons begged for more. Tarrus willingly obliged and delivered a few more songs and they still demanded more but that was not to be as it was time for the show to come to an end.

Richie B who’s the master-mind behind the prestigious EME Awards is most definitely pleased with the results of the media coverage and turn-out that the 2010 EME Awards received. In early September 2009, a Russian director (Vlad) journeyed to Jamaica to film the music video for Lockdown, a collaboration between Ms. Triniti and Vybz Kartel. There was great expectation for Lockdown to be a crossover hit and understandably much fanfare around the shoot, prompting Anthony Miller to host Triniti and Kartel on his ER program ahead of the shoot and Gareth Daley to cover the video shoot for Hype TV. Seeing Vlad’s animated display, zeal, and tireless work ethic on set only served to stoke further interest in the finished product; however, five months later the video has still not been aired.

All the parties connected to the song are understandably disappointed by the inexplicable delay. The Bolan production team that heads up Heart to Art cannot put a finger on the problem; however, they revealed that they have had a streak of unfortunate experiences with video directors in recent times. They explain that Vlad committed to deliver the video for Lockdown within six weeks of the shoot; however, more than three months have gone by since then without him providing any acceptable explanation for the protracted wait. They recently spoke to Vlad and he expressed profound regret for the delay and assured them that he is now working feverishly to complete the project.

R&B singer Chris Brown, who pleaded guilty last year to assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna after a pre-Grammy Awards party, is expected in a Los Angeles courtroom today for a progress report hearing.

The 20-year-old singer is scheduled to attend the hearing before Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Schnegg, who noted at the last hearing Nov. 19 that Brown had gotten "an extremely favorable progress report."

The singer has already completed more than 100 hours toward his required 180 days of community labor and has done seven sessions in a domestic violence counseling program, defense attorney Mark Geragos told the judge at the hearing in November.

Brown was sentenced last Aug. 25 to five years probation and the yearlong domestic violence program, plus 180 days of community labor, which could include highway cleanup, litter removal or other similar work.

The video first spent a maximum of three weeks in the #1 position on RETV before it was dethroned by Barbee's "Feel So Good" forcing Tiana's Skippin Feelin video to settle for the #2 position. However, within a few weeks the song claimed back its rightful position and has wrapped up another three weeks in the #1 spot which makes it a total of six weeks atop of the chart.

Skippin Feelin is currently in the #4 position on Carivibez TV and have rocked the #1 position on CVM's Hitlist Video Count Down Chart.

Buju Banton who was arrested in December 2009 at his Tamarac home in Florida will remained behind bars as his trial date has been pushed back until April.

Buju Banton is facing drug and conspiracy charges after he was arrested by Federal Agents who stated that Buju was caught on tape tasting cocaine while negotiating to purchase more than five kilo of cocaine from undercover agents at a federally controlled warehouse located in Sarasota in Tampa, Florida.

According to Buju's lawyer Markus, making bail will not be of any help to Buju Banton as US Immigration Authorities would immediately re-arrest him because his travel waiver was revoked by the authorities the moment he was arrested.

The Negril One Love Reggae Concert winter series will come to an end on the 9th of March 2010. The series kicked of on November 17th last year ad has been very successful as every Tuesday since its inception hundreds of patron have come out to support the weekly concert series which is held at the Negril Escape Resort. The concerts have featured some of reggae’s top acts such as Richie Spice, Sanchez, Tanya Stephens, Tarrus Riley, Freddie McGregor, Julian Marley, Jah Cure and Chaka Demus & Pliers. Also the production standards for the series have been very high as the chief organizer and promoter of the series Carey Wallace CEO of Negril Escape, ensures that every aspect of his productions are dealt with in a very serious manner.

There are four concerts left in the series; next Tuesday’s concert will be headlined by Tarrus Riley. Also on the bill for that concert is promising new artist Protoje and Negril based deejay Mr. Peck. The following Tuesday will see international reggae superstar Shaggy in the house along with long time stable mate Rayvon. The last two shows which will be held on the 2nd and the 9th of March will feature Jah Cure and Wayne Wonder respectively.

Rising reggae artist Protoje who recently delivered a show stopping performance at the Coral Cliff resort in Montego Bay is looking forward to his next assignment in the west. Protoje will be one of the featured acts on the next Negril One Love Reggae Concert winter series show which will also feature reggae star Tarrus Riley. This event will be held at the Negril Escape resort in Negril on the 16th of February 2010.

"This will be my first show in Negril and I want to give the people something to remember as I want to make a lasting impression on them. Therefore I have been rehearsing a special set with my band for this show. We are going to rock Negril in a serious believe mi", said Protoje.

Since his emergence on the local music scene last year Protoje has been creating a buzz with singles such as Arguments which was released last year and his most recent release Dread which was produced by ace producer Donovan Don Corleon Bennett, which is currently enjoying a lot of presence on the airwaves courtesy of top disc jocks such as DJ Sunshine and DJ Wayne of IRIE FM and ZIP FM’s ZJ Liquid, ZJ Rose and ZJ Elektra. When it comes to serious commitments, Dodgers player Matt Kemp has his eye on one thing -- baseball.

Despite his romantic trip to Mexico last month with Rihanna, the center fielder says he's focused on spring training and helping his team make it to the World Series.

"I can't get distracted by that," Kemp said in an interview on the L.A. Dodgers Web site of the paparazzi frenzy surrounding the Cabo San Lucas vacation. "When it's time to play baseball, that's my job. No distractions."

Though Kemp, 25, and Rihanna, 21, were spotted smooching and snuggling together, the hunky jock said the Grammy winner is "just a friend, a good friend of mine." He added, "We went down to Mexico and had fun together."

The red carpet at the 2010 Youth View Awards saw major stars and celebrities coming out in their numbers. But while the photographers snapped away and television crew jockeyed for interviews with the stars, DJ Shine kept the vibes flowing with an avalanche of hits.

From the opening of the red carpet until the awards show got underway, it was DJ Shine whose musical artistry kept the teenagers and stars rocking as they made their way into the National Indoor Sports Centre.

So pulsating was the vibe from some of the latest hip hop, alternative and rap tunes, that some patrons hung on the outside of the venue chilling with friends, even while the awards show was underway.

California based reggae artist Jahsun is very pleased with the attention his recently released single entitled Do Good has been receiving locally. The single which also features local based reggae acts Mr. Perfect and Stevie Culture has been receiving heavy rotation on IRIE FM, HITZ 92 FM, LINKZ FM and VYBZ FM. Its accompanying music video which was directed by California based director Tim Cash has also been getting much air time on local television stations such as RETV, HYPE TV, CVM TV, CVM Plus and NTV.

Jahsun is currently busy completing several projects which includes a music video for his next single titled Meditation which was done in tandem with Trinidadian reggae songstress Queen Omega. He is also working on his soon to be released self titled album which should be completed for release this summer.

Rapper Lil Wayne's sentencing for possessing a gun has been postponed to allow him to have dental surgery.

The star - real name Dwayne Carter - was unable to undergo the work beforehand as his dentist had been out of the country, his lawyer said.

He is scheduled to return to the New York State Supreme Court on 2 March.

In December, he pleaded guilty to charges arising from a 2007 arrest when a gun was found on his tour bus after a concert in Manhattan.

Manhattan assistant district attorney Joan Illuzzi-Orbon did not argue about the delay in sentencing saying she had spoken with the dentist.

Since making their debut three years ago popular sound system Darkcide International continues to make major strikes in the Jamaican music arena. Last week the Kingston-based sound returned from a month-long tour of the United States.

India Arie was named this year's International Friend of Reggae at the recently held 6th Annual Excellence in Music & Entertainment (EME) Awards 2010 staged at the Gardens at Jamaica Pegasus in Kingston. The EME Organizers were honoured to have her presence, as this was her first appearance since winning her third Grammy on the Sunday before.

Arie received her award after gracing the stage with Gramps Morgan. The two performed their duet, "Therapy", which is featured on Morgan's album, “2 Sides of My Heart", which was named the 2010 EME Album of the Year. India Arie also performed her single “Ready For Love” and received great response from the audience.

After twenty years of entertaining partygoers, the Renaissance Disco continues to be dominant with the youth market.

This was evident in the sound system being named Favorite Sound System at the 2010 staging of the Youth View Awards (YVAs).

An elated Delano Thomas from Renaissance was lost for words when contacted on his way to the event that the sound had won. ‘It’s great to know that the youth appreciates us and enjoy our music’.

Reggae star Spanner Banner has been working hard to regain his former status in the local music industry since he returned to Jamaica a few years ago. The prolific hit maker was residing in the UK for over three years hence his absence from the local music scene in the earlier part of this decade. Despite all the obstacles he has faced in his bid to achieve this goal, Spanner Banner has stepped back into the local spotlight wit his recent number one hit single Rolling Stones.

His return to the local musical landscape has found favor with fans and music industry insiders alike. Therefore it comes as no surprised that he has copped the award for Biggest Come Back Artist of the Year in the Excellence in Music & Entertainment Awards (EMEs) which was held last night at The Gardens at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.

Rising reggae/dancehall artist Timmi Burrell was in fine form when he performed at the Excellence in Music & Entertainment Awards (EMEs), which was held on the 4th of February 2010 at The Gardens at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston. The dapperly dressed young man was the first performer in a segment of the awards show dubbed the Tribute To Studio One and he got things off to a very good start with a splendid rendition of Horace Andy's timeless classic Skylarking, which was produced by the great Jamaican producer Clement 'Sir Coxsone' Dodd who founded the Studio One studio and label in the 1960s.

Judging from the response of the audience his effort was well appreciated. The main man behind the EMEs Richard Burgess was very pleased with Timmi Burrell's performance; "Timmi got the show off to a very fine start I must say, he is certainly poised for great things", said Richard Burgess when asked for his thoughts about the budding artist's performance.

Two days after his brothers Stephen and Ziggy picked up Grammy Awards in the Best Reggae Album and the Best Children's album category respectively, Julian Marley played to a full house at the Negril Escape Resort at Negril One Love Reggae Concert show which was held on Tuesday February 2, 2010. It was Marley Magic all the way as Julian Marley rocked the house in fine style.

His nearly two hour long performance saw him reeling of songs such as Father’s Plce, Harder Dayz, Boom Draw, Awake, Lion In The Morning and Loving Clear along with several of his father’s timeless hits. The huge audience sang along, screamed and applauded right throughout his performance.

The show was opened by Ras Noble, Power Drill and Iron Head all these acts gave a good account of themselves.

The next show in the Negril One Love Reggae Concert winter series will feature veteran lovers’ rock singer John Holt along with Richie Melody and the Uprizing Band.

Musical interests both locally and internationally found 2009 to be a turbulent year for the industry; feuds, lackluster production and writing efforts aided in an even greater decrease in album sales. The flip side is that this tight squeeze around the neck of the entertainment industry allowed persons to dig deeper inside their creative engines to bring good quality music to float above all the undesirables, much to the delight of the fans. One artiste who was able to bring forth really good, quality filled tracks was DASECA's first artiste - Bugle.

Bugle has found himself blessed with a writing/lyrical skill that allows him to bring forth songs that connect with people on a personal level; things that basically any and every one can relate to. In 2009 he stayed true to that form and worked with some of the industries talented producers to bring those songs to the ears of the fans. With the help of visionaries like Julia Braham (1456 Productions) and Jay Will (Jay Will Films) he was able to bring some of these stories to life. One of his last projects for 2009 was the song 'Pearly Gates' produced by TJ White (Tj Records) for the Alter Ego Riddim.

Back in the day, Lindsay Lohan released two albums with billboard chart success, and for the last couple of years we've been hearing all about the oh-so-anticipated third album.

Eighteen months ago Ne-Yo even raved about the troubled Tinseltowner's work ethic and their plans to continue working together following the release of her last single "Bossy."

"She did a fantastic job. She actually did a much better job than I thought she was going to do to be honest - I was skeptical at first. But she was on time, motivated and focused," he said at the time.

Now it sounds as though in the meantime something went sour between the two.

"We were doing some stuff and then it just fell off and hasn't got back on," Ne-Yo told Pop Tarts at Clive Davis's Pre-Grammy party last week. "I'm not gonna hold my breath."

But if LiLo ever does decide to get her act together, the "Year of the Gentleman" crooner is willing to work something out.

"Lindsay, when you're ready to get it in, give me a call," he offered.

DJ Khaled has voiced his support for incarcerated reggae artist Buju Banton in light of his current legal woes involving alleged drug trafficking.

While not getting too deep into Banton's situation, Khaled expressed the good character behind Buju's personality.

Westside Konnection Records recording artist Timmi Burrell will be performing on this year's staging of the prestigious Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards (EME) which will be held at the Gardens at the Pegasus Hotel on Thursday the 4th of February. The talented Negril based singer will be performing along with several other talented singers in a segment of the awards show, which will feature a special tribute to the great Studio One record label and its legendary founder the late Clement Dodd popularly known as Sir Coxsone Dodd.

Timmi Burrell who delivered a very exciting performance at the Miss Beaches Sand Bay pageant in Negril last Saturday is very upbeat about his upcoming performance on the EME stage.

Beyonce's six wins are the most by a female in one night in the Grammys' 52 years.

Beyonce made history at the Grammys on Sunday as she collected six trophies, including song of the year for her anthem "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)," making her the most decorated woman in one night in the 52-year history of the awards show.

The multihyphenate entertainer won her sixth trophy with best female pop vocal for her soaring ballad "Halo." Perhaps she was not aware of her record-setting feat; her acceptance speech was decidedly low key.

Revolutionary Entertainment recording artist Junior X has scored his first number one hit for 2010, with his controversial single titled The Pill. The single which was produced by international record producer Dennis Livingston of Revolutionary Entertainment is now sitting firmly at the top of the RETV Reggae Chart. Junior X’s career has been on the rise since he signed a multi-album deal with the US based record label last summer.

"It's a nice feeling to score a number one; I am feeling very happy about it. Since I have been with my new label things have been going in the right direction for me. I am just putting in the work because I know Jah bless me with a special talent and now I am working with people who understand how to market my talent the right way," said Junior X.

The much-hyped return to the multiplex of Mel Gibson, whose drunken and anti-Semitic outburst in 2006 turned him into a Hollywood pariah, proved no threat to James Cameron's "Avatar," which was No. 1 at the weekend box office for the seventh weekend in a row and passed the $2 billion mark globally.

"Avatar" sold about $30 million in tickets at North American theaters for a new domestic total of $594.5 million.

Overseas "Avatar," from 20th Century Fox, did about $95 million in business over the weekend. It now ranks as the No. 1 film of all time in terms of revenue (without adjusting for inflation) with $2.04 billion in global sales.
