Philadelphia based Entertainment Company Revolutionary Entertainment has been around since 2004. The company is headed by Dennis Livingston who is the nephew of the legendary reggae super star Bunny Wailer and his brother Derrick Livingston who is the joint CEO of the company along with Ian Grant. Revolutionary Entertainment started out as an events company in the US and has staged several successful events across the US such as celebrity events for VH1, MTV, BET, Bobby Valentino, Katt Williams, New Edition and Sean Paul. However, the focus of the company has broadened in recent time to include artist management and record production since launching its Jamaican operations.
The company first ventured into this new direction two and a half years ago with the signing of the talented female songstress CenC Love. CenC Love who is Bunny Wailer's daughter is known for popular songs such as Little Bit Of My Time & Yours Alone featuring Richie Spice. The company also manages Andrew Tosh son of the late reggae super star Peter Tosh, Junior X who was recently signed to the company and Might King sound-system.
"It was not my intention to get into reggae music at first; the whole thing was like a calling, I just had to get back to my Jamaican roots and help carry on the family legacy which was started by my uncle." "I got involved because of my cousin CenC Love, who is my uncle’s daughter." "She came and asked me to manage her career." "Shortly after that I began managing my other cousin Andrew Tosh." "Since then the whole thing has been like a dejavu." "The experience of going to the studio to make music with Cence just took me back to when I was a kid and I would go to the studio with my uncle." "I am enjoying producing reggae music and just the whole business of artist management and development a lot right now," said Dennis Livingston.
Dennis Livingston says his company is dedicated to making time less music. This should come as no surprise as he has not only been listening to good quality reggae music from an early age, but he was also able to witness the creation of such music on many occasions when he visited the island on holidays when he was child. It was the norm for Dennis to spend a lot of time around his uncle and visit the studio with him and watch as he and the other members of the Wailers recorded many of their timeless hits. He says it was good to be able to be around his uncle and to watch him and other great artists and musicians work in the studio.
"I can remember going to the studio as youth with uncle Jah B, it was just awesome to be there and be a part of the whole vibe." "The whole thing just seemed amazing to me at the time and still does and from those early days I just grew to love the music tremendously." "So when I decided to start producing music I knew that I wanted to produce music with that same kind of vibe that the reggae greats such as my uncle and Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and many other Jamaican artists have made." "It's what I call timeless music because good reggae music will be played forever."
Livingston believes he is well on the way to achieving his goals. He says Revolutionary Entertainment now focusing on the career of Junior X who is making quite a comeback with his latest single The Pill which was produced by Revolutionary Entertainment.
