Alliance artists continue to break ground on the world stage, with Mavado and Serani once again being given the nod at a prestigious international award show. The 2009 Soul Train Music Awards has recognised both artists in the Best Reggae Artist category. They are in great company with Ziggy Marley, Sean Paul and the torch-bearer of Jamaican conscious music Taurus Riley rounding out the nominee list.

After being on hiatus the past couple of years, this year's show will be taped at the Georgia World Congress Center on Tues., Nov. 3 and then air on both BET and Centric (the channel formerly known as BET J) on Sun. Jamaican actor Lascell 'Girlie' Parnell who was convicted on five counts of sexual abuse charges by a grand jury at Kings Criminal Court, Brooklyn NY in September was sentence to two years in prison for sexual molesting a 13-year-old boy even though each count is equivalent to one year behind bars.

According to Girlie, the mother of the child who worshiped with him at the same Church framed him. Girlie also question, who will take care of his three daughters for whom he played the role of Mama/Papa as his wife died a few years ago.

On May 29,2008 Girlie was slapped with several disturbing charges such as two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor - five counts of sexual abuse in the 2nd degree along with one count of aggravated harassment.

According to court reports, this was not the first time for Girlie as he was charged in 2005 for a similar offense.

You'll Never Find another soulful song as Jah Cure's for the remainder of the year. Jah Cure's You'll Never Find waited for two weeks in the #2 position before dethroning Richie Spice's Street Life from the #1 spot.

Westside Konnection Records recording artist Timmi Burrell wrapped up a two-day video shoot over the weekend, for his latest single titled Why Did You Leave.

His record label and Management Company contracted the services of topflight music video director Asha Mchail of Fareye Films to shoot the music video. The video was shot at several locations across Negril such as the Jungle Night Club, the Banana Shout Resort and the Sunset On The Beach hotel.

The story line of the video; is a simple love story of a man and woman who have faced trials in their relationship. The man’s life is shattered when one evening he returns home from work to find that his lover is gone, hurt and frustrated he goes in search of his girl. Timmi’s love interest in the video was played by Thandeka ‘Talia’ Donaldson. The video also features appearances from other artists from the Westside Konnection camp such as Rexxx, Trendy and GK. The video will be released to television stations island-wide next month.

After a couple of rough months that found him getting massive flack for interrupting Taylor Swift at the VMAs and canceling his tour with Lady Gaga, Kanye West got some very good news on Friday. Though he was not present for the ruling, West caught a break when a Los Angeles court commissioner dismissed all three misdemeanor charges against the rapper in connection with a scuffle with paparazzi at the Los Angeles International Airport in September 2008.

Court commissioner Mark Zuckman dismissed misdemeanor charges of battery, grand theft and vandalism against West and tour manager Don Crowley. West was arrested on suspicion of vandalism and Crowley on suspicion of vandalism and battery on September 12, 2008, when they allegedly confronted TMZ photographers and smashed their equipment; West and Crowley, 33, pleaded not guilty to the charges, which could have sent West to jail for up to two years and six months and Crowley for up to five years.

City prosecutors opposed the dismissal, arguing that both West, 32, and Crowley had exhibited "felonious intent" in allegedly breaking the expensive camera gear. As part of the dismissal, West and Crowley were ordered to complete 50 hours of community service - West's attorney said he will work perform his service with the American Red Cross.

Serani may be best known for his breakout hit "No Games," but the emerging Jamaican artist first made a name for himself crafting songs for some of his homeland's biggest stars.

"I'm a musician from birth, I played the keys from birth," Serani said. "As time went on, when I became a teenager I was listening to Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Capleton and Sizzla. I would listen to the beats and thought, 'Why are they on some of these? They could do better.' And I knew I had the talent to do it."

He got his start working as a musician, contributing to Wayne Marshall songs. Eventually he formed Daseca Productions with two partners, and the trio were able to power hits by some of the same artists Serani listened to coming up. Their big break came when they scored a couple of knockout hits, producing Tony Matterhorn's "Dutty Wine" and Sean Paul's "We Be Burning."

" 'We Be Burning' was the first real big move," Serani said.

The 'Feels So Good' music video from sexy reggae singer Barbee premiered on Saturday on Winford Williams' OnStage and earned the soulful singer some big props.

After the premiere, her momiger's (mother/manager, Rose) phone was ringing off the hook as people called to congratulate Barbee on a great video and for her super hot sexy looks.

Shot at the prestigious Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston, TD Films under the direction of Ras Tingle worked round the clock to capture the perfect ambiance for the 'Feels So Good' single that has been getting heavy airplay locally and abroad.

Weekend gone was Heroes Weekend in Jamaica and some of the Alliance "giants" were out in full force representing the current generation of Jamaican Heroes.

Serani, debut album No Games dropping next Tuesday the 27th, was the special guest at a special media all-weekend event organised by Jet Blue. The airline had invited 150 media, bloggers and tastemakers on a "Jet Blue Mystery Tour," where by the invitees turn up at the airport unaware of their destination until the last minute. All guests were put up at the luxurious Iberostar Grand Hotel in Rosehall, Montego Bay, and the Jamaican city that Jet Blue has just started to fly to.

Guests were treated to a five star weekend, culminating at an All-White party on the Sandals Cay Island off the Mobay coastline, with Serani as the surprise guest. About a minute into his performance, a rainstorm blasted the island but Serani used it to his advantage, jumped into the crowd, and had everyone doing the "call down the rain" dance. The vibes were unforgettable and were only stopped because the rain damaged the mic and he could sing no more, but his performance won him many fans and will certainly garner him great media coverage for his album release on October 27.

Little did reggae star Richie Spice know when he departed the island last Thursday for a show in Bermuda that was billed to feature himself, Serani, Bugle and Konshens along with the Gumption Band and MC Richie B of HOT 102 FM that he would end up doing a full concert. The event was annually held Culture Shock Fest, this year's staging was dubbed 'The Next Generation' was originally scheduled to take place on Friday October 16th at the Somerset Cricket Club grounds in Somerset, Bermuda. However, the event had to be rescheduled for the next day because of the inclement weather conditions that affected the island of Bermuda on Friday.

Unfortunately, Serani, Bugle and Konshens had to leave Bermuda on Saturday as it was said that they all had other engagements to attend in Jamaica. However, Richie Spice decided to stay and do the show along with his younger brother Snatcha who wasn't originally billed for the show.

Rising reggae artist Protoje will be featured on the College Lifestyle television programme, which will make its debut on air on the 2nd of November on CVM TV at 9:00 PM. College Lifestyle is a hot new television lifestyle programme, that is geared at young people; the show will feature interviews with hot & happening music and sports celebs along with other important public figures and will also address important issues that affect young people. The College Lifestyle team made their way to St. Elizabeth a few weeks ago to do a special exclusive interview with the talented young man at his home in Santacruz. Protojoe will also be featured in the second edition of College Lifestyle magazine, which will publish on the 2nd of November.

Protoje who made his entry onto the local music scene earlier this year with his top ten hit Arguments, is currently busy in the studio working on a soon to be released project with his cousin, topflight producer Donovan 'Don Corleone' Bennett. His debut album The Seven Itch is slated to be released early next year.

<strong>Kanye West is an immensely talented man. He's got 3 number one albums, 2 American Music Awards, 2 World Music Awards, 9 BET Awards, 12 Grammys…the list goes on and on. MTV named him the hottest MC in the game for 2008, placing him above the likes of Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and T.I. He successfully transitioned from producer to rapper, and then again (less successfully, but still decently) from rapper to singer. Truth be told, Kanye West is probably one of the few people in the world who has earned the right to be arrogant.

So why is he so hated for it? Why is he so reviled for what amounts to nothing more than an oversized ego? In a world where Chris Brown beats the hell out of Rihanna and T.I. gets caught stockpiling automatic weapons, does it make any kind of sense that Kanye West is public enemy number one?

In a weird, misguided way, yes it does.

Ours is a world based on image, and that means more than the clothes somebody wears, or the car somebody drives. It literally means that people are judged based on what they are seen doing. If someone carries themselves correctly out in public, they are more likely to be forgiven for the reprehensible things they do in private. That's why Chris Brown's on his way to getting his career back - because no one saw him beat Rihanna. Sure, everyone saw the aftermath, the pictures, but no one saw the act itself. Same with T.I. - no one saw him setting up his gun deal or paying off his bodyguard. All we saw was the end result, and the end result was done correctly. Chris Brown was shamed, remorseful. T.I. accepted his punishment like a man.

Even though Buju Banton recently met with a group of gay leaders and activists things have not change a bit as OutAroad.com understands that the gays are still pushing hard to wreck the Gargamel career.

According to towleroad.com they quoted the Banton saying, "This is a fight, and as I said in one of my songs 'there is no end to the war between me and faggot' and it's clear. The same night after I met with them (gay associates), they pepper-sprayed the concert. So what are you trying to tell me? I owe dem nothing, they don't owe I nothing."

Banton explains that he only met with the gays because Supervisor Bevan Dufty, who is running for San Francisco Mayor, made a request:

"It is not about boxing food out my mouth, if a that I would have surrendered to the system a long time ago. The mayor of San Francisco, or the mayor-to-be, claimed that I was in his district and that it was imperative for him and his organisation to meet with me to further see what kind of personality or character (I have)."

The Bloods (Andrew & Wada Blood) are on the grind once more with their latest street anthem "Weh Dem Feel Like" featuring the Gangsta Ras Munga.

"Weh Dem Feel Like" makes its street debut about three weeks ago and already it's been rocking some of Jamaica's hottest street dances such as Passion Sundayz to Fresh Fridayz.

The overcast conditions didn’t put a damper on the second leg of the RE School Tour. As the tour bus approached the Clan Carty High location, students congregated hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite entertainers.

The entertainers were more than willing to sign autographs and mingle with their fans, but on an afternoon where the threat of rain hovered, the entertainers put their plan into action.

The plan worked as students hung on to their every utterance, as lyrics of positivity, abstinence and matters of the heart as well as social issues pelted like missiles.

Instrumentalist and beat boxer Mixing Lab, Prodigal Son, Timberlee, Goddy Goddy, Alaine, Tifa, G Whizz, D'Angel, I Octane, Chino, Jah Vinci, Konshens and Etana all reinforced to the students the importance of abstinence and staying in school while maintaining good grades and positive attitudes.

The government of Antigua has invited popular dancehall gospel artist Calvin Whilby aka Prodigal Son to headline Jubilation VI. This event is one of several official events, which will be held to celebrate Antigua & Barbuda's 28 years of Independence. Jubilation VI will be held at the Antigua Recreation Park on the 1st of November. Prodigal Son will be sharing the lineup on this event with the likes of JJ Hairston and Youth Praise of the USA, Nigel Lewis of Trinidad & Tobago and Movements For Jesus from Antigua.

Before leaving for Antigua Prodigal will be one of the headliners on Gospel Jam, this event that will be held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Center, is a benefit concert in aid of Sandra Spulbing. Miss Spulbing is suffering from a very rare and serious disease called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome and is badly in need of surgery to get rid of the disease. RSDS is now referred to as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, CRPS. It is a progressive disease of the Autonomic Nervous System. RSD/CRPS is ranked as the most painful form of chronic pain that exists today by the McGill Pain Index.

King of Flossing, Flippa Mafia, will on Sunday have one of the biggest performances of his career when he joins rap star and Grammy nominee Soulja Boy, along with a host of local stars on stage at the fifth staging of Barefoot Beach Party in Montego Bay.

The deejay is looking forward to the event and, as usual, is committed to entertaining his fans.

"Music Business is all about entertainment and making patrons feel like they have spent their hard-earned money well. Flippa Mafia is the Flossing King and fans can expect lots of fun and excitement," he promised.

Beyonce and Lady Gaga are two of the most popular singers today and it seems the two have joined forces for B's latest video, "Video Phone." After a few weeks of rumors, the news has been confirmed by MTV.

According to a spokesperson for Hype Williams, the video will be released but few other details have been released.

Life and Style Magazine also found that the video was extremely secretive.

"Everything on the set was being kept very hush-hush, and security was extremely tight," an alleged insider told the magazine.

The person went on to explain that the fashion in the video was "insane."

"Beyoncé wears a feathered dress. And of course Lady Gaga wears something wild. The fashion is sick and insane."

Many sources also say that Gaga will add additional work to the track.

Beyonce and Lady Gaga have yet to speak on the matter.

Internationally recognised singjay Mr. Vegas stepped up the promotion of his breakout Man a Gallis/Sassa Step single by making appearances on the popular television programmes CVM HItlist and TVJ's Intense this weekend.

Vegas performed the Man ah Gallis single to close the CVM Hitlist, which will air today on CVM at 5 p.m, with a repeat on Saturday, while Vegas appearance on TVJ's Intense will air on Saturday night. The Man ah Gallis video has also been added to the Fiwi Choice top ten chart which airs on TVJ.

Much maligned, maybe misunderstood, Vybz Kartel (aka "Addi the Teacha," "Addi the Emperor," or simply "Addi"), if just for his voluminous output and lyrical mastery, is definitely one of the top deejays in the history of dancehall music. He rose to prominence in the late 1990s, after he impressed dancehall icon Bounty Killer with his lyrical ability. Killer took Kartel under his wings and the relationship proved mutually beneficial: Kartel wrote several well-received songs for Killer, while Killer accepted Kartel into the Killer-led Alliance, making Kartel’s ascent in the business possibly easier than it would otherwise have been. Kartel rose rapidly, snagging several Deejay-of-the-Year awards, collaborating with several international hip-hop and pop stars, and recording creditable album sales with several projects for UK-based Greensleeves Records. Along the way, Kartel was earning a reputation as a nonconformist who was not afraid to tackle issues, individuals, and institutions.

Kartel would spend much of the next two years embroiled in lyrical and legal confrontations with members of the Alliance and other entertainment personalities. Flava Squad Entertainment will be hosting an album and video launch for their latest rhythm album Addiction and its accompanying music video the Addiction Medley that features songs from Lutan Fyah, Konshens, Nitty Kutchie and Gyptian.

The launch will be held at their studio headquarters at 50 Dumbarton Avenue, Kingston 10, on Wednesday October 28th. The launch will commence at 8 PM and will be hosted by Kurt Riley of FAME FM. Philadelphia based Entertainment Company Revolutionary Entertainment has been around since 2004. The company is headed by Dennis Livingston who is the nephew of the legendary reggae super star Bunny Wailer and his brother Derrick Livingston who is the joint CEO of the company along with Ian Grant. Revolutionary Entertainment started out as an events company in the US and has staged several successful events across the US such as celebrity events for VH1, MTV, BET, Bobby Valentino, Katt Williams, New Edition and Sean Paul. However, the focus of the company has broadened in recent time to include artist management and record production since launching its Jamaican operations.

The company first ventured into this new direction two and a half years ago with the signing of the talented female songstress CenC Love. CenC Love who is Bunny Wailer's daughter is known for popular songs such as Little Bit Of My Time & Yours Alone featuring Richie Spice. The company also manages Andrew Tosh son of the late reggae super star Peter Tosh, Junior X who was recently signed to the company and Might King sound-system.

In the wake of cancellations of most of the show on his US tour, Jamaican dancehall singer Buju Banton, met yesterday for 40-minutes in San Francisco with gay right activist to discuss his differences with the LGBT community.

The meeting, organized by SF mayoral candidate and supervisor Bevan Dufty, also included, executive director of the SF gay community center Rebecca Rolfe, Equality California’s Andrea Shorter, SF Supervisor Eric Mar and activist Michael Petrelis.

The group explained that American gays are not singling Banton out, as they also advocate for gay tolerance in Jamaica, and have also applied pressure on the Jamaican government and business leaders to affect change that benefits gays across the island nation.

Petrelis said on his blog…
“The meeting was very civil and productive, even though at times I had to play the “bad cop” activist, especially when Buju was dominating the discussion, and we made several suggestions for him to consider, in order to start to undo some of the problems he has in the gay community because of his past anti-gay lyrics.”

Petrelis also said the group proposed that Banton think about making statements in Jamaica calling for love toward gays, donating to the JFLAG group, hold a town hall meeting in Kingston about the need to respect gays, and sing about loving gay people.

All of the groups’ suggestions were rejected by Banton and his people according to Petrelis. Banton was scheduled to perform in Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston and other cities, however, after a campaign that was initially organized by the LA Gay & Lesbian Center, and the liberal website change.org against Banton, clubs began to cancel his appearances.

As anticipation builds for the October 27 release of Serani's US debut album, titled "No Games" after his crossover hit of the same name, the tracklist has now been released.

The 14 track set contains many completely new songs along with with new versions of Mama Still Hungry, When its Cold and Romance Me, alongside the title track and current hit "She Loves Me" rounding out the impressive album.

"We put a great emphasis on the quality of the production and sound on the album," said Serani. "As a musician and producer myself I'm very pleased with the sonic quality of the album and I am sure my fans will be just as pleased. You always hear people complaining that Jamaican artists release albums that are basically compilations of songs that are already out there so we wanted to do a lot of new material. Even the tracks that are known have been re-worked and upgraded! Most of the album is for my ladies, but there is something on there for everyone."

Former Canadian based reggae artist Laza Current is currently busy working on his latest album, which is tentatively, titled Better Tomorrow. This will be the second album for the talented Rastafarian artist who won the Juno Award in Canada in 1996 in the deejay of the year category and also earned a Juno nomination in 2002 for the reggae album of the year, with his debut album Glorious Ride. His latest full-length project, which is slated to be released next January, is being produced by producer Anthony 'Bassy' Hibbert of Guerrilla Music Production.

Lazah Current recently returned to Jamaica from a trip to New York where he shot a music video for the first single from the album Hey Girl. The music video was directed by New York based director Courtney Winters. Both the single and the video are scheduled to be released at the end of November just in time for the Christmas season. While in New York, he also performed alongside Tarrus Riley at an event held at the Chance Nightclub in Poughkeepsie on September 4th.

Pen2Paper Creative Concept - Kingston Jamaica: Media House Production artiste - Tiana unofficially collabs with the hot blazing Hip Hop Croner Pitbull on the remix of "I Know You Want Me" which was creatively done by DJ X (CashFlow).

Nothing is wrong with getting pregnant for an artiste, you just affi mek sure seh yuh get pregnant for the right one. The girls whose children that will probably have a 99% chance of being taken care of by the artiste are the ones who were with them from day one. On the other hand some girls aim is to get pregnant for di artiste because they see it as their only escape route from being poor. But I personally would not get pregnant for an artiste.

For you to get pregnant for an artiste you have to be a groupie, that's if you were with him before he got the break. Entertainers are so busy up and down the place and for you to find his whereabouts then you must be a stalker or a groupie. Ladies when you run after entertainers what you get you must tek and don't go running to the media.

I am not going to say yes or no who am I to predict life's journey. Anything can happen because yuh can meet an artiste fall in love with him but just don't lay yuh self careless fi get pregnant. But what I can't understand why these artistes have sex with these girls without condoms when most of these girls are groupies.

Such is the aim of new artist "Spotlight", although fairly unknown here in Jamaica he has been doing the ground work, all in a bid to ascertain the much needed light on his career. While Spotlight is not directly pointing fingers on any one person, or writing to address this issue, the said principles can be wholly applied, as the song highlights how easy it is for an individual to dispel or change their loyalty, often base on the need or opportunity to gain increase monetary benefits.

Spotlight also lyrically addressed and highlighted, a few issues, which in some ways what has been mare rumours among entertainment personalities, and people in general. Spotlight paints a vivid picture whether true or not, depicting the lifestyles of many persons, who upon getting the "international aka the farrin" experience, and indicating their immediate change in personalities, lifestyles and behaviours.

After infamously stealing Taylor Swift's spotlight at the MTV Video Music Awards, the rapper bailed on the 4th Annual BET Hip-Hop Awards Saturday evening, giving up his nine chances to stage yet another remix-worthy, acceptance speech crashing moment.

While YouTubers across the country were probably chomping at the bit for that video posting opportunity, it's safe to say the self-proclaimed egomaniac saved himself a beatdown by not jumping on stage with a nominee competitor like Young Jeezy or Rick Ross.

Top nominees turned no-shows was somewhat of a theme for the awards show, held at the Atlanta Civic Center. The runner-up to West's bevy of nominations, T.I., was missing in action as a result of his lockdown in an Arkansas prison on a federal weapons charge.

The increased positive perception of the challenged Jamaican is a primary part of the objective of The Maia Chung Autism and Disabilities Foundation, the Foundation has launched its you tube channel and everyone can subscribe for free.

Soulja Boy Tell'em is out of jail after spending the night behind bars on Wednesday, following his arrest on a charge of obstruction. The rapper (born DeAndre Way), was detained when Georgia police responded to a report of juveniles hanging out in an abandoned home on Wednesday night in the McDonough area of Atlanta.

According to Captain Jason Bolton of the Henry County Police, someone called in a report of individuals hanging out at an abandoned home. When officers arrived on the scene, they found around 40 people standing in a dark backyard behind the house.

"You couldn't really tell what was going on," Bolton said. "But about half of the group ran from the officer on foot. He ordered, of course, for them to stop. ... There were several vehicles left at that location."

The incarcerated rapper's latest video premiered on Monday (October 5) and continues the prison theme set forth by his last video, "Remember Me," featuring Mary J. Blige. That video, which was to be the first single from the proposed Paper Trail reissue that was later shelved, was released just after Tip began his sentence and opened with the Atlanta rapper in an orange jail-issued jumpsuit.

"Hell of a Life" is similar, with Tip donning his prison duds early in the clip. But while "Remember Me" struck a more somber tone, "Hell of a Life" is celebratory. After the rapper enters prison, the Erik White-directed video flashes back 24 hours. Tip is shown all alone in a bedroom-like setting watching his career highlights on a flat-screen TV.

"Beamers, Bentleys, double Rs, Ferraris/ Every time I seen shorty, 'Where you headed tonight?'/ Selling out arenas, chicks with asses like Serena/ Man, shorty live a hell of a life, I'm tryna tell them," T.I. raps on the track's chorus.

Sources are claiming that the romantic relationship between Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake has come to an end and one of the individuals confirming the news is none other than the pop star's grandmother.

The Mirror quotes Sadie Bomar as saying, "Jessica was keen to marry, but Justin isn't ready. The girlfriends come and go, but we believe nothing has ever been serious." Hey, British newspapers, if you're going to fake quote Americans, you might want to try and limit the use of the word "keen." It's kind of a red flag.

Another source confirms the breakup to FOX411, "Justin broke up with Jessica weeks ago, but he's a good guy and he does care about her." The snitch adds, "Photos will still surface of them together because they will remain friends, and anytime she needs him, he will be there."

As for the status of rebound relationship with pop star Rihanna, the source claims that the twosome have been getting quite cozy together in the studio. In fact, they spent lots of time together over the weekend of the MTV Video Music Awards. According to the source, "Justin and Rihanna were having fun and there was a lapdance involved. Mi Life Soon Sort Out hit-maker G Whizz recently got a disturbing voice-message that was recorded on his road manager's phone threatening to take his life.

Here are a few lines from the message: "Yuh a talk bout leave a detail message well this is a detail message p*$$yhole mi aguh cut off yuh head,"

When OutAroad.com contacted G Whizz a member of his management known as Massimo took the platform and this is what he had to say about the situation.

"I have no problem with anyone wanting to make threats to the artiste but one thing they must understand is that I will not stand by and allow anyone to hurt G Whizz…I have immediately implemented a underground team to investigate the matter. I understand that a few "hot heads" might want to make a name for themselves but my message to them is don't mess with the Whizz as I will advance all measures to protect not only the artiste but all the members of our team."

Massimo also warns that he will not sit back and allow one "telephone bad man" to destroy what they have worked so hard to achieve over the years.

Former rising stars contestants Que recently shot and released the music video for their latest single Walk Away, which also features upcoming deejay RP. The video was directed by Simeon Hedge (Simeon Hedge Films). It was shot at various locations across the corporate area including Sabina Park, Morgans Harbor, the Kingston Harbor, Hellshire Heights and Mixing Lab studio.

The video was released two weeks ago since its premiered on TVJ's entertainment program ER and has been receiving heavy rotation on television stations such as TVJ, RETV, HYPE TV, CVM TV, CVM PLUS & NTV.

The single Walk Away was co-written by Damarah Danni and Kalvin Tahal the two remaining members of the group, which originally started out as a quartet, along with Dowayne Morrison. Damarah and Kalvin also handled production duties on the track that was produced for S-Lock Entertainment. Walk Away will be available for download on iTunes by the end of the month.

Gully Gad Mavado was in New York over the weekend shooting the video for "Hold On (Crossroads)" - the first single from multi-platinum artist Wyclef Jean's new album that features the Dancehall megastar.

Shot on location in Brooklyn's Navy Yard the video was shot through the night, climaxing with a scene overlooking the East River towards Manhattan as the sun came up.

The song is a lament for all the fallen soldiers and is widely tipped to become an instant classic. With the song and video about to impact mainstream airwaves in the coming weeks, it looks like Mavado's rise to international super stardom is set to continue at a rapid pace.

Weezy trial date set for possesion charges

A trial date for rapper Lil Wayne has been set, everyone's favourite Sizzurp sipping rapper is facing prison time due to drug and weapons charges dating back from last year.

Lil Wayne was not present during a hearing yesterday in relation to charges the rapper incurred during a stop at a border checkpoint outside of Yuma in January of 2008. A search of the bus turned up 41 grams of ecstasy, over an ounce of cocaine, four ounces of marijuana and a handgun registered to Lil Wayne in the state of Florida, where the rapper has a concealed weapons permit.

Wayne faces a number of charges, including possession of narcotic for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and misconduct involving weapons.

The rapper has plead not guilty to all the charges.

Lil Wayne's hearing is set for March 30th 2010.

Lady GaGa has revealed she'll launch her own US tour after the cancellation of her joint Fame Kills shows with Kanye West.

Speaking at the Billboard Women in Music event she told reporters: "We mutually decided to cancel the tour. He's going to take some time off, but I'm not."

"I'll be leaving just a week later than I was supposed to on my own solo tour. It will be the same places. So I will see you guys there."

She added: "Kanye and I talked about it. We talked about it a lot, as well as with (promoters) Live Nation."

It's thought West will take some time off after his stage invasion at the VMAs where he interrupted Taylor Swift.

Of that incident GaGa said: "everyone makes mistakes and it is important to forgive one another. He's a good person."

Jamaican reggae artist Major Mackerel was slashed Sunday on the head, arm and hand by a neighbor wielding a two-foot-long sword, the musician and police said.

Major Mackerel, who attracted some recognition in the 1980s and 1990s as a dancehall reggae artist, was seen hours after the attack returning to his Brooklyn home. He had white bandages crowning his dreadlocks and wrapped around one hand, a wrist and elbow.

"I had a fight and I got cut," Major Mackerel told the Daily News.

The reggae artist, whose real name is Garfield Dixon, said he got into a fight earlier in the day with a neighbor, identified by police as Oscar Joseph, outside a two-story brick house on East 91st Street where they live on separate floors.

OutAroad.com gets to understand that the incident took place minutes after Esco had just got his hair cut at Bling Dawg’s Bling Kuttz barbershop located in a Plaza on Central Avenue, Kingston. Where he was attacked by three armed men who robbed him of his valuables before attempting to kidnap Esco by forcing him into their vehicle. Esco then managed to struggle his way out of the vehicle escaping with minor injuries.

Bounty Killer did not get the chance to "Cease Fire” with his arch-rival Vybz Kartel over the weekend at a concert which was held at the George V Park in Port-of-Spain as he was denied entry into the country by Immigration officers at the Piarco International Airport.

Information reaching OutAroad.com is that Bounty who was expected to perform at the Cease Fire concert arrived at Piarco Airport minutes after 8pm last Friday (October 2, 2009) onboard flight BW 415. However, as soon as Mr. Cross, Angry, Miserable exits the aircraft and approached Immigration they immediately informed him that he was not granted permission to enter the Country. Bounty Killer had to wait 12 hours for the next available flight back to Jamaica.

According to newsday.co.tt, a source close to the concert promoter, Jacho Entertainment, claimed that they were given no logical explanation as to why Bounty Killer was denied entry. The source said initially they were told that Bounty Killer failed to produce a work permit and then they were told that he was given no permission to enter Trinidad. Local artiste Ken Charles, also known as KMC, slammed the authorities for denying Bounty Killer entry to the country and said that the promoter should sue the State.

Even though patrons were upset with the Immigration decision fans still turned out in their numbers to witness a brilliant performance from Vybz Kartel along with a few members of his Empire.

In a poll that was recently conducted to compare the popularity of Vybz Kartel and Mavado saw Vybz Kartel topping Mavado, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and was also awarded for having the largest internet fan base. Somehow, only eight persons of Vybz Kartel's huge fan base went out to buy his album "Pon Di Gaza" that was independently released via Adidjahiem Records/NotNice Records.

According to figures from Nielsen SoundScan "Pon Di Gaza" only sold eight copies while he got 519 individual downloads of various songs off the album in its first week.

Even though many of our local acts are popular, both locally and abroad, the sale of albums from dancehall stars are not so impressive. Highest recorded sale from a Jamaican artiste for this year belongs to Sean Paul's Imperial Blaze, which reportedly sold over 30, 000 units in its first week.

Reggae stars Richie Spice and Spanner Banner recently returned to the island after a highly successful four week of the US west coast. The tour, which began on September 27th in Chico California at the BMU Auditorium, saw the two Bonner brothers performing to sold out venues across California, Colorado & Seattle. They also trekked across the border to Canada for a few dates in Vancouver, Edmonton & Calgary.

A spokes person from their management company Bonner Cornerstone Music says that the tour was very successful as expected.

Both artists are currently back in the island and are working on individual recording projects. In a few weeks time they will be leaving the island again for a series of one off shows across the Caribbean.

Sean Paul walking away with MOBO award for Best Reggae Album has left many persons upset saying that it's impossible that he won the award especially his album was recently released in summer.

Sean Paul surprisingly beat out Serani, Movado, Taurus Riley and the lyrical genius Vybz Kartel to make it his second time winning the prestigious MOBO award.

According to Marvin Sparks from BlogSpot.com, "you give this to Sean Paul? Been inactive for 3 years (same length since we had a Reggae artist), released one dead song (which didn't sound Reggae to me but still), 'bout to release another dry song, yet you bless him with a MOBO? Is that how cheap a MOBO award is?

"That was Serani's award. Can't we go back to when you helped buss songs to the mainstream? Without MOBO I doubt Beenie Man's Who Am I, Mr Vegas' Heads High or Sean Paul's Gimme Di Light would have charted so high (Beenie top 10, think other 2 were top 20), Serani deserved that award."
