KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Legislators in Jamaica have approved a bill that makes possession, production and distribution of child pornography a specific crime.
Those found guilty could face up to 20 years in prison and nearly $6,000 in fines.
Suspects previously linked to child pornography would be prosecuted under charges such as carnal abuse.
Prime Minister Bruce Golding said in a statement released Wednesday that the government will aggressively pursue those who profit from child pornography.
Jamaica also created its first sex-offender registry earlier this year and strengthened laws dealing with other sexual offenses.

We mustn't allow evil-doers to prevail against common sense. I totally support the move taken by the Jamaican legislators. The possession, distribution and possession of child pornography is a very serious crime.....this is carnal abuse.

This legislation should have been passed a long time ago. $6000.00 is too small for such a crime
