Jamaica’s veteran Reggae Singer Winston Rodney a.k.a. Burning Spear’s Jah Is Real album denied Elephant Man’s Let’s Get Physical, Heavy D’s Vibes, Lee “Scratch” Perry’s Repentance, Shaggy’s Intoxication and Sly & Robbie’s Amazing from winning the Grammy award for the Best Reggae album, 2009.
This will be Burning Spear second time winning this desirable award as he won it in 2000 for his smashing chart topper album “Calling Rastafari".
Burning Spear got his break with the late Coxsone Dodd at his Studio One hit factory. In his entire career Burning Spear has more than 21 albums under his belt such as Hail H.I.M.” for EMI, “Marcus Garvey”, “Man In the Hills” and Garvey’s Ghost” on Island’s recording label. He then teamed up with the independent Heartbeat label that hails from out of Cambridge, Massachusetts to release several albums like “Rasta Business”, “The Fittest of the Fittest”, “Appointment With His Majesty” and “Calling Rastafari.”
