Serani inks major deal with Universal Records

serani_univeral_records_nogames.jpgAlliance musical sensation Serani has bucked the trend in these troubled times for the music industry by landing himself a deal on the biggest major record label in the world - Universal Records.

After weeks of negotiation, a deal described by his management as "unbelievable," was finally thrashed out and inked at the end of this week. According to Julian Jones-Griffith, Serani's manager, he had been in talks with the heads of most of the major labels over the last 2 months and after much deliberation, decided to go with Universal Republic.

"The bosses over there - the Lipman brothers, shared our vision," said Jones-Griffith. "They see Serani as more than an urban act and intend to market him in that way. We did the deal in conjunction with our new partners Phase One Communications, who have been responsible for the success of No Games in the US. It really is a fantastic deal and is one Universal said they have never done before. But in this new climate, if a record label wants something they have to adapt and do things they might never have done before."

Serani Sizzles in New York

By Rhona Fox
Inc.

serani_new_york.jpg

He's dancehall, he's lover's rock, and to American fans, he's the newest Caribbean export who is heating up the airwaves. Serani, a member of the producing phenom DASECA, saw his solo career soar when he recently realized any Caribbean artist's dream by signing with a major label.

Now a Universal Republic artist, Serani is about to release the hits dancehall fans have been enjoying ever since his solo move, to the masses.

Recently at Club Maracas in Queens, New York, Serani performed to a sold-out crowd as part of Queen's promoter Satish Singh's birthday bash. He had the males with their hands in the air and the females scrambling to climb the stage, as he chatted tunes like "DOH" and "Everywhere I Go," and serenaded with "She Loves Me" and current Billboard hit, "No Games."

If the show proved anything, it is that Serani has the ability to satisfy everyone, with hits for the guys and gals alike.

A Deliberate Attack On The Dancehall Fraternity?

ravers_clavers_ding_dong_dancers.jpgThe death of dancehall legend Gerald Levy aka ‘Bogle’, whom can be credited for dances such as the ‘Bogle’ and ‘Zip It Up’, shocked the dancehall fraternity when he was fatally gunned down on January 20, 2005. The controversial figure was at the height of his career with new moves such as the Willie Bounce, Sesame Street, and Summer Bounce. He also coined phrases such as “All dem deh - weh all dem deh did deh? And “Eeh a lie” when his success was cut short.

The recent attack on members of the famous Ding Dong led Ravers Clavers crew at the popular Fresh Fridayz, has aroused serious concerns as to the safety of our dancers. The loss of major figures in that section of the dancehall fraternity has left many in a tailspin of questions as to what are the real reasons behind these attacks.

Overmars the creator ofRaging Bull told OutAroad.com that “A nuff ‘prements’ a gwaan in di streets yuh don’t know who like yuh or who have yuh up in a dem heart. A man see the dancers dem a elevate dem selves an nuh like dat, si Bogle dead an gone now Ice every dancer haffi watch what dem doing.”

Hunts Bay Police recovered Maia Chung’s Van - Scrapped

maia_chung_van.jpgThe Hunts Bay police recovered the stolen van belonging to Maia Chung’s Autism & Disabilities Foundation on Monday (January 26, 2009). The cops also have several suspects behind bars in relation to the crime. However, the van is now useless to the Foundation as the heartless thieves scrapped the vehicle.

While the Foundation and its principals are happy, that justice was served to a certain extent. There is now a huge gap in the services to the disabled that the Foundation won’t be able to fill until they can manage to repair or buy a new vehicle. These thieves have made the lives of the disables even more miserable than how it is already. Those who are awaiting vital life sustaining assistance are now left “championless”, as the Foundation was fulfilling gaps that both state agencies as well as many family members of the clients of the Autism and Disabilities Foundation were not able to do.

Maia Chung told Outaroad.com, "I was really encouraged by the great outpouring of love and prayers from your loyal readers, it made us all feel better and we really respect this webzine for making our plight a public issue, perhaps because your team revealed the tale justice was served. But what do we do now ...?". The Foundation is now floundering.

G Whizz ft Junior Reid - It's Gonna Be Alright

By Di Reviewer
OutAroad.com Writer

Artist: G Whizz Featuring Junior Reid
Song: Its Gonna Be Alright
Producer: Fams House / Millionaire Inc.

gwhizz_junior_reid_artists_outaroad.jpgFinding the formula to do a follow- up to a good song can sometimes be difficult for a young artist, but G Whizz is an exception. His latest effort which features the distinctive vocals of reggae legend Junior ‘One Blood’ Reid shows Jamaica and the world that this talented young man knows where he is heading and he understands what it will take to get him there. He has began to carve out his own niche in the dancehall with the over night success of ‘She Bad’ and ‘Its Gonna Be All Right’ is reassurance to the fans that he is not a ‘one hit wonder’.

Fortunately, for G Whizz, he has been blessed with a stamp of approval from Junior Reid whose introductory comment- “G Whizz, new talent in da biz, Junior Reid endorsed him” - lets us know that the new kid on the block has much to live up to. This song may take G Whizz’s career to places he never thought possible.

Fams House / Millionaire Inc deserve credit for producing a world standard song. The artist vocals are clear and crisp and the beat is original. There is no limit to the success of good music and these guys are putting the bar up a notch.

"He Who is Without Sin, Let Him Cast The First Stone..."

By K.A.L
Letter To The Editor

moses_photos_gospel.jpgIn light of the tragic news that has hit the Christian community regarding the passing of Gospel Recording Artiste, Kasim “Moses” Grant, I find it imperative to write this piece, why? because already the rumors, half truths and twisted facts are flying, belittling what this young man stood for all his adult life, and with an even more detrimental issue at work, the attempt of the enemy to erase his efforts in life with one last tragic mistake, the type of mistake that not only gives the body of Christ a black-eye in the eyes of the public, but also gives the enemy the type of victory he yearns for daily.

We have all heard the reports, the speculations, accusations and assumptions, but what really happened, did Moses have a gun, was it a licensed firearm, was it an illegal firearm, was he killed, did he commit suicide? The questions are many, and like always, the answers are few, but the twisted facts are many; so where do we go from here, do we condemn this young man without knowing what really happened?

Some of us already have, and some are unsure about what to believe, but forget what you heard, feel or even know to be the truth, because regardless of the facts, one thing remains true, we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God, and like Jesus said, “He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone,” John 8:7.

BET did not premier Mavado’s So Special video - censorship

mavado_so_special_video_photos.jpgWe were as surprised as everyone at BET's decision not to follow through on their promise to premier the "So Special" video on yesterday's 106 & Park. Despite 106 & Park's presenters hyping the premier for several days, including showing clips from the video, a last minute intervention by someone in the legal department prevented the video from airing.

"The anticipation was very high for the BET premier," said Mavado's management team. "We weren't notified until late in the day that there was a last minute objection by one of the legals over there, who had a censorship issue. He objected to "excessive display of alcohol" and "careless use of women as writhing set dressings!" The video is now available to watch online so people can make up their own minds about that."

Mavado's management went on to say that when the video was first submitted to BET they flagged several issues and were sent 3 different edits before approval.

"The show's programmer had passed the video and had been running promos so she was livid at the decision," he continued. "It’s disappointing but all is not lost. If anything this may help publicise the video even more - Mavado can't seem to step without some form of controversy!"

Beenie Man was not shot - but warrant out for Moses

By Kon-Vick
OutAroad.com Writer

moses_gospel_artiste_gun_shot.jpgLate last night up until this morning, OutAroad.com has received tremendous amount of phone calls and emails asking if it’s true that Beenie Man got shot. However, after doing our own investigation OutAroad.com gets to understand that a warrant was issued for the arrest of Moses.

This is where the rumor stems from - the Moses that the cops are looking for goes by the name Kasim Grant who’s more popular known as Moses in the gospel world.

The real story
According to police reports gospel artist ‘Kasim Moses’ Grant who’s a resident of the Gordon Town community got into an argument with his cousin - minutes after Moses pulled a hand gun and fired several shots at his cousin who escaped injuries. A friend of the family intervened and got into a struggle with Moses but was shot in the hand. The police also revealed that Moses is not a license firearm holder so it’s clear that he might commit the act with an illegal firearm.

A resident of the community told OutAroad.com, “up to now mi still can’t believe seh him shoot di man, look how him career a move steady and him let the devil take hold of him.”

Moses found dead
According to the police Moses, body was found near the Hope River - the police are however suspecting that he might have committed suicide or was pushed off the bridge by someone.

Badman turned Christian
Before Moses decided to turn a Christian, he was known as a bad man by many in the Rema (Arnett Gardens) community whose father was killed by police in a shootout.

general_b_ghost_sting_2008_photos.jpgFinally, a member of the Monster Empire hits back at Kiprich who had lyrically slaughtered the Empire at Sting 2008.

According to some folks in the entertainment industry, they haven’t seen or heard anything from the Monster Empire since they were embarrassingly booed at Sting. However, General B of the Monster Empire has broken that deadlock by counteracting Kiprich’s latest single, which stated that the members of Monster Empire are cowards.

In General B’s song titled Act Like A Girl, he explains why he didn’t get the chance to engaged Kiprich in a lyrical confrontation at Sting as he was denied entry on stage by Laing and Heavy D.

In the song, General B poked fun at Kiprich by saying, “him sey bounty a him dad - is a jacket this,
him a look a father but him miss-pick,
cause yuh nuh fava Mavado, Bling Dawg, Wayne Marshall, Busy Signal nor Hitlist.

Hey likkle idiot snitch-rich,

mavado_bike_gully_side_jamaica.jpg

The Gully Gad Mavado latest single featuring Flex is now the talk of the town, which has everyone wondering if it’s a counteraction to Vybz Kartel’s Last Man Standing. The single titled Walk Wid Dem Casket’ was produced by Steven Di Genius McGregor (Big Ship).

Mavado convincingly sings, “Tell dem walk wid dem casket
anywhere we buck dem a guh bl**dclaat dead,
gunshot a buss in a dem bl**dclaat head,
War nah guh stop until mi enemies dem gone --- dead dem -- dead

According to a source, “yeah man this song is direct hit at Vybz Kartel remember Vybz Kartel was the one who walked with a casket at Sting.

Not A Counteraction
However, OutAroad.com decided to get in touch with Steven Di Genius who explains that, It’s not a counteraction, it has nothing to do with any clash because the song was actually voiced like a week and half before Sting.”

At last, Beyonce's song fits the mood

By Glenn Gamboa
Source:
newsday.com

beyonce_knowles_sexy.jpgLike nearly every other piece of President Barack Obama's inauguration, picking Beyoncé to sing "At Last" during the first couple's first dance was part logistics, part symbolism - reinforcing many of the day's themes.

The song itself is 67 years old, first released on the soundtrack to the Glenn Miller movie "Orchestra Wives" in 1942, though most believe the definitive version belongs to Etta James, who turned it into a hit in 1961. Beyoncé covered it last year for "Cadillac Records," the movie where she portrayed James.

Choosing her to sing it, instead of James, plays into Obama's ongoing theme of giving young people the reins, but making sure they know their history and excel at what they do. It goes hand in hand with Michelle Obama choosing a gown from 26-year-old designer Jason Wu, whom many say updates the work of Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera. Or, you know, having a head speechwriter - Jon Favreau - who is 27.

For her part, the normally unflappable Beyoncé had to fight to keep it together, holding back the tears as the enormousness of the moment - not to mention watching the Obamas dance in front of her - started to get to her. "I was thinking [about] all of the sacrifices Obama and his wife and his children have made, and at last he's here," she told ABC News afterward, adding that she was embarrassed by her emotions. "It's probably the most important day of my life, and I'm so grateful."

Thieves stole The Maia Chung Autism & Disabilities Foundation only means of transportation (van)

By Kon-Vick
OutAroad.com Writer

maia_chung.jpgCVM’s former news anchor Maia Chung who's now the Managing Director of The Maia Chung Autism and Disabilities Foundation was recently robbed of Toyota Town Ace - license plate 9925-EM.

According to Maia on January 13, 2009 thieves came into her yard and stole her only means of transportation and with her son, being disable it’s really difficult for her to carry out her daily activities such as helping others with disabilities to get proper medical attention as well as providing food for them.

The Maia Chung Autism and Disabilities Foundation includes a bunch of working journalists such as Michael Pryce, Kerlyn Brown, Cassius Watson and Leon Palmer whose aim is to change the way how persons with disabilities are treated in today’s society.

We just want our van back - we are a nonprofit and non-governmental organisation so this is really going to impact our ability to help persons who are literally dying of hunger due to coping with various disabilities autism, cerebral palsy, paralysis blindness, etc. The van takes us to where we need to go to get help for these people, who need our advocacy,” Maia Chung told OutAroad.com.

Since lost of the vehicle the organization has been struggling to function properly. This has put a damper on several projects that cannot be completed without proper transportation. One of which is the shooting of a music video for a song sung by High A Ziya titled Guide & Protect Disabled. With this video, Maia Chung hopes to use it as a tool to encourage others to show endless amount of love and respect for persons living with disabilities.

Maia Chung is pleading to those who stole the vehicle to please give it back or leave it at the nearest police station.

Chi Ching Ching actions are not justifiable says Manager

chi_ching_ching_diamond_jamaica_dancer_photos.jpg

Late yesterday evening OutAroad.com received a letter from Chi Ching Ching’s management team Undisputed Entertainment requesting to use this medium to apologies on his behalf for his recent run-in with the law. Below is a copy of the press release.

Re: Radion Beckford (aka Chi Ching Ching)
Fr: Sabrina Downes of Undisputed Entertainment (Radion Beckford's Management)

This release is to address the points written in yesterday's news brief (January 20, 2009) - "Chi Ching Arrested On Drug/Motor Vehicle Charges".

Radion Beckford as documented Chi Ching was arrested on the charges set forth in the news brief and was duly punished accordingly. It is our intentions to address the article and make it aware that neither Undisputed Entertainment nor Radion Beckford condones such behaviour and his actions are not justifiable. Radion Beckford has been extremely busy over the last few months with his career, travelling extensively outside of Jamaica to the US, UK and Caribbean Islands, his schedule has been meticulously planned out and extremely hectic, which has led to him being unable to sort out personal issues, including obtaining a full drivers license. Radion Beckford is now in the process of following the correct procedure to obtain his license and to obtain full comprehensive cover...

Kindest regards
Sabrina Downes

Sean Paul & Estelle Rock New York

By Rhona Fox
New York

sean_paul_estelle_come_over_party.jpgSean Paul, the most commercially successful representative of dancehall music today, brought his brand of pop dancehall into the swanky Club Element in lower Manhattan this past weekend. Dubbed "Sean Paul & Friends LIVE," the event was part of New York City's trendsetting promotion team - Upscale Crowd Entertainment and Caribbean Fuse's celebration of the Martin Luther King holiday weekend, on Sunday, January 18, 2009.

Fans who braved the snowy New York temps to pack Element were in for a treat when SP, as he's commonly called, took the stage, welcoming everyone in the club. "Happy New Year to all my people them," he said, greeting the crowd with a smile. "You see all my people them who love reggae and dancehall music - Caribbean people, Jamaican people, Trinidadian people, Guyanese people." The audience went wild as he called out their homelands, then performed many of his hits, including, "Give It Up To Me," "We Be Burning," "Gimme The Light," "Get Busy," "Watch Dem Roll," and "Temperature."

D'Angel gone gospel? - 'Thank You'

By Krazy Katty
OutAroad.com Writer

dangel_gospel_thank_you_aisha.jpg

Since the release of D’Angel’s new single called Thank You Feat Aisha the word has been spreading like wildfire that The First Lady has gone gospel.

In the song D'Angel chanted words like "Yuh si in life you affi count your blessings - give God the glory,
I give thanks for my pain and struggles - which made me so strong,
I give thanks to my friends and foes - they make me, who I am,
I give thanks and the good Lord knows that’s where I will stand.

After listening to the words of the song repeatedly, OutAroad.com got curios about D’Angel trodding the gospel road and contacted her.

“It’s not that I have become a gospel artiste but there is a point in your life when you need to slow down and give thanks to the Lord for what you have achieved. Only the Lord could have kept me stronger because all things are possible through Christ.”

The single was produced by Carlington Wilmot of Media House Production on the Ghetto Soul Riddim.

Other songs on the riddim are Delus with True Love, Gyptian with the Crazy World, Sizzla with Best In Life and Shalli with In Heaven. The riddim was created by Duwe and all tracks were mixed by France’s remix kings Daddy & Hypa(D&H).

Andrew & Wadda Blood shoot ‘Hustla For Life’ (‘La La La’) video

…brothers get three EME nominations

Contributed

andrew%26wadablood_hustle_lalala.jpgAndrew & Wadda Blood were busy over the weekend shooting the music video for their hot single 'Hustla For Life' ('La La La'), which should hit the airwaves soon. The single has been getting nuff love in radio land, street dances and among the teens.

'Hustla For Life' ('La La La') has already been featured in the Unga's medley music video in the Gallis riddim, along with artistes the likes of Serani, Ras Penco and Future Fambo. But the single is such a phenomenon that the Blood brothers had no choice but to re-shoot it as a separate video.

Andrew & Wadda are definitely serious that 2009 will be an unforgettable year for them, and getting three EME Awards nominations is just the beginning.

The voluptuous and gorgeous Ava Samone

Ava_Samone_model_photos.jpgECSTASY MODEL Ava Samone burst on the scene in 2008 as an independent model that was trying to make a name for herself in independent films and print work. Thrust into a world of glitz and glamour this city girl remembers her humble beginnings. Ava Samone, born Kesha Holmes and is the third child of three children which are all girls. She had a modest upbringing, raised by two loving parents, she didn’t realize what struggle was about until her father passed in 1996. Then she knew what it was to struggle. With that understanding, Ava Samone learned from the strength of a woman who taught her to set her goals high and to work hard to bring them into realization.

Holding a number of odd jobs before her modeling career launched, Ava Samone attended school and worked in the club industry for some years. It was a chance in meeting an Atlanta’s photographer that changed the tides for Ava Samone life forever. She has never shied away from hard work, remembering the example set by her mother. Struggle and perseverance has lent her a highly developed sense of humility and gratitude.

In the beginning, Ava was hesitant to participate in her first photo shoot and even more so to construct a web page with such little attire. However, the photographer persistent in his wish to photograph the voluptuous and gorgeous Ava Samone convinced her that a web page would be an instant success. He saw something else in the extremely photogenic model, a certain hunger and charm.

Dancer Chi Ching Ching arrested on drug/motor vehicle charges

By Kon-Vick
OutAroad.com Writer

ching_ching_chi_arrest.jpgRadian Beckford more popularly known as Chi Ching Ching and a friend were arrested for having ganja in their possession and for breaking several of the country’s road traffic laws.

The fast rising dancer-turn-deejay Chi Ching Ching seems to be mighty too anxious to get his hands around a motor vehicle steering wheel, which led, for him to pick up additional charges for breaching the Road Traffic Act - such as driving a car without a driver’s license and no insurance. He was also ticketed by the St. Ann police for driving over the speed limit.

OutAroad.com gets to understand that Chi Ching Ching has been driving for a while with his Learner’s License.

However when OutAroad.com got in touch with Chi Ching Ching he had this to say, “yeah man the police dem did pull mi over and tek mi up a station and charged mi, I was later released on station bail - I just want the people dem fi know seh mi deh a road even up to last night mi deh a Uptown Monday and couple other places a party.

G Whizz - "She Bad, but I like It"

By Di Reviewer
OutAroad.com Writer

gwhizz_she_bad_singer_jamaican_r%26b_photograph.jpgArtist: G Whizz
Song: She Bad
Producer: Fams House Music & Millionaire Inc
Rhythm: She Bad

After hearing ‘She Bad’ spinning like crazy on various radio stations in Jamaica, it is hard to stop yourself from singing out the chorus. It was even harder to wrap my head around the fact that a young Jamaican artist performs the song. G Whizz is sure to please the ladies with his smooth voice as he sings over the pounding R&B beat.

G Whizz has achieved with this song, what many have unsuccessfully tried to accomplish throughout their entire career- a cross over dancehall flavored R&B song that has individuality and identity instead of being a corny rip- off of a popular North American anthem. The production is crisp and clean and the vocals are supreme and quite frankly this song has the potential to propel Whizz’s career to an international level.

It is easy to appreciate a young artist who undertakes the challenge of entering the Jamaican music scene from an original angle, particularly one that will not be easy. G Whizz who’s managed has the insurmountable task of staking his claim in a business fueled and dominated by Dancehall and Reggae. However, G Whizz is definitely on his way to stardom - ‘the kid can sing’ so he has a good advantage over the auto tune ‘peggys’!

With the creativity and effort that G Whizz displayed on this track, he has now proven to many that he has what it takes to propel his career to the screens of BET & MTV.

She Bad was mixed by Steven Stanley & Chester Walker, two of dancehall’s finest engineers and the beat was created by Daniel "DC" Campbell and Peter "Elmer Fudd" Campbell who hails from out of the Cayman Island.

T.I. Counts Down To Prison Sentence In MTV Series: Check Out A Clip!

'T.I.'s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go' follows rapper's work, family life and community service.

By Shaheem Reid
Source:
mtv.com

ti_mtv_series_prison_count_down_rapper.jpgIt's hard to believe that in less than two months, T.I. will be going to jail. With his incredibly busy schedule, Tip himself doesn't have time to dwell on it. He has work to do first. In addition to all the appearances he's been making to promote Paper Trail, he's been shooting movies, overseeing his artists' upcoming albums, being a family man and completing 1,000 hours of community service for felony weapons charges.

"No amount of jail time is gonna teach me the lesson I learned at that moment," Tip says of the night he got arrested in November 2007 in his upcoming MTV series "T.I.'s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go." (The title will actually change as the countdown to his prison sentencing nears.) He could have faced up to 30 years in jail for purchasing illegal firearms, but because of a plea deal, the community work he's completed by March will likely reduce his sentence significantly.

As the cops apprehended him, Tip says he thought to himself, "Oh sh--, you done f---ed up."

In "T.I.'s Road to Redemption," Tip gives viewers an intimate look at his family life at home. He shows the extremes he has go through to maintain his accustomed level of fan love and media exposure while giving talks to kids as part of his community service.

EMEs To Aid Rio Grande Truck Crash Victims

eme_logo_awards.jpgThe dependents and survivors of the accident on the Rio Grande Valley road, which claimed 14 lives in December, will receive additional support through an initiative of the Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards.

Come awards night, February 5, attendees to the event, at the Gardens of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston are being asked to take a donation to be added to the special account established on behalf of the victims’ families. A donation will also be made directly from the EMEs.

Chairman and Founder of the EMEs, Richard "Richie B" Burgess stated that he felt compelled to support the cause, not only as a concerned Jamaican and a public figure, but as a native of the parish of Portland. "We in the EME family feel very strongly about giving back, and this cause in particular really merits the effort, as no doubt the families are facing some very difficult circumstances in addition to the burden of grief at their loss."

Sexy Diz Chels - Don't judge me

model_Diz_Chels_photos.jpgMy name is Diz (Chels) I’m 20 years old. I’m African American and Russian. I have been modeling for about 2 years now. I'm not like every other girl you meet. I have ambitions and goals and I take pride in all that I do. I have a 3.9 GPA so please do not call me stupid. Whether I’m in school or modeling I give everything 110% effort. My biggest problem with people whom I have never met is that I feel I am judged way too much. I believe you cannot make a judgment on a person based on what you see because trust me there's a whole lot more on the inside. I am judged daily, sometimes it's good and sometimes I'm so disgusted it tears me apart. But if you try and knock me down I'm going to stand right back up and fight 10 X's harder. Hater's don't phase me....I have my own life and outside opinions and judgments are only expected if they are positive. I surround myself with positive people who can make me better. Play Hard'Get Dirty...my motto. Go hard or Go Home.

Kardinal's Tide is High Remix ft. Barrington Levy and Busta Rhymes

kardinal_busta_rhymes_barrington_levy_remix_hiphop.jpg

The Offishall is back with a bang and he is here to dominate the world. Canadian/Jamaican rapper Kardinal Offishall is ‘the man on fire’, and nothing can cool his tempo. Since signing to Akon’s Konvict label, Kardinal has been ‘tekking it to dem’ without letting up the pressure. He has released a slew of hits and done collaborations with some of the biggest names in the business. Two of his current chart toppers are ‘Dangerous’ featuring Akon and Tide is High featuring Keri Hilson

kardinal_video_tide_is_high_keri_hilson.jpgThe remixed version featuring Busta Rhymes and Platinum Camp recording artisteBarrington Levy is sure to top the success of the original. Reggae star Barrington Levy, who has been featured on several international collaborations, changes his singing style and adds a dancehall flavor to the pounding hip-hop baseline. Busta Rhymes is his usual lyrical self, spitting venom over the track in his signature fast paced fashion. Kardinal maintains his unique dancehall/Hip-hop technique in delivering his lyrics. He has shows once again why he’s referred to as Canada’s ‘hip-hop ambassador’.

‘Tide is High’ remix is a club banger and we can expect to hear much more good music from Kardinal as his career continues to expand.

Serani has a stink attitude?

OutAroad.com Writer

serani_tv_show_stcriox_video.jpgMr ‘stinking rich’ Serani had a good 2008 seeing his smash hit ‘No Games’ moving on to the billboard charts gaining him tones of international exposure. Along his path to success, the D.A.S.A.C.A. singer/songwriter/producer has managed to rake up some bad press relating to an alleged robbery incident in the Virgin Islands.

A video from a local Virgin Island entertainment television reporter recently surfaced on You Tube. In the report, the presenter claims that Serani had a ‘stink’ attitude and his performance at the Islands annual festival was poor. He claims that Serani was robbed by people that felt disrespected by his attitude towards the locals and that other entertainers that may have engagements in the Virgin Islands don’t have to worry about facing the same fate.

The song, produced by his personal engineer, Chester is Elephant’s way of ‘blessing’ the start of a new year, taking a small break from being the king of dancing songs.

The song is a fun, fast paced tune and Ele is his usual energetic self. It’s one of those songs that you can’t help moving to and a few seconds after hearing it you will defiantly find that you are humming the chorus.

Elephant Man never fails to pleases his fans with his diversity and versatility. He keeps his flavor new and has constantly redesigned him self as an artist to meet the demands of an ever changing dancehall scene. This song, although similar to ‘Yuh Too Badmind’ done some years ago, will undoubtedly make a huge impact. Like all of the ‘energy god’s’ dancing anthems - ‘da one ya sell’ off!

Chester’s Projects

Chester, the mastermind behind Busy Signal’s street anthem ‘Thug Bleach a Night’ and the Night Creature that features rivalry songs from Munga’s Sting Mouth Vs Deva Bratt’s Quarrel & Cuss. Chester’s latest dancehall juggling tiled Troop features artists like Konshens, D’Angel, Munga, Aishia to name a few.

After he slid in his d*ck he stopped calling me

mr_proppafix_logo.jpg

Dear Mr Proppafix

I'm so confuse. I like this guy that goes to the same school as me. We talk...during our conversation I asked him if he has a woman his response were "not really" after all that he asked for my number so, I gave it to him. He didn't call me till a week after... One night (a Monday night) he called... he asked me out, while we were there enjoying one another company, he asked for a kiss so I gave him suddenly I feel his hand touching my breast so I move away and tell him that he is going too far.

He didn't call me till the next Monday so, I asked him why he didn't called me, he said he been calling me but no one was home so I let that passed. So I told him that I don’t expect a commitment, I aint that stupid, but at the same time I am not looking for a one time, two time f**k. Tuesday he asked me out again, I said yes...we went out again but this time we take it to another level. We started kissing one another, feeling one another...Another hot and humid kiss rekindled our fire. He asked, "Since you already satisfy me let me satisfy you back" ...I whispered in a rhetorical tone, “We cant do this. Not this quick. Getting naked too soon always leads to problem...his dick slid in my vagina but before 6 seconds I tell him to stop, so we stopped kiss and that was it...while we're there heading home we had a wonderful conversation.

from since that night he haven't call me so, I am wondering if it was all about the sex he wanted or he want me to miss him....I know this sound a bit off but, I'm a bit confuse...I need your advise.

Mavado Makes Vibe Magazine's Top 80 Songs List

mavado_war_clash_i_am_so_special_jamaica.jpgDancehall superstar Mavado continues to win accolades the world over. VIBE magazine has included his current Billboard smash "I'm So Special" in their Top 80 Songs of 2008. VIBE magazine will also be sending one of their top writers Rob Kenner along with a photographer to Jamaica this week to do an in-depth feature on Mavado for their April issue. This will be another first for Mavado, as Reggae and Dancehall stars are usually restricted to inches in Kenner's famed Boom Shots column, but Mavado will be getting a 4-page spread of his own.

EXCERPT FROM VIBE:

44 “SO SPECIAL”
Mavado
PRODUCED BY TJ
From Unfinished Business (riddim)

Dancehall’s “Gangster For Life” has been everywhere this year, from Grand Theft Auto IV to collabos with Jay-Z and G Unit. Just in case you were wondering why, he breaks it down over a reprise of Dave Kelly’s “Showtime” riddim. “I’m so special,” he points out. “That’s why me strapped with a .45 special.”

Sleepless nights
Waking up and you're not there

Take a look in the mirror

Girl I thought you were my star
Baby.....

(Chorus)
Over and over again
Over and over again
I tried to walk away from love
I tried to walk away from love
Over and over again
Over and over agian
I tried to walk away from love

(Verse 2)
Her stunning love
Was like no other
I'm sitting here
Remembering the saga

Young Artists to ‘run’ 09 - Delus & Konshens - Part 5 of 5

Konshens & Delus also known as the duo Sojah

By Teflon Thug

Delus' Gang War & True Love Freestyle Medley
delus_video_gang_war_true_love.jpgDelus has been on a steady rise since he perused his solo career. His song ‘Informers’ gained a lot of attention in Jamaica and Europe. ‘Gang War’ debuted on the UK Urban Music Charts and was featured on the D&H produced ‘Gangsta’ remix featuring Vybz Kartel and Mavado which tore up France and was featured on numerous mix tapes including a remixed version featuring G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks appearing on Shadyvill’s Caribbean mix.. His remix of T.I.’s ‘Whatever You Like’ has also made many mixtapes and even made it onto the playlists of several mainstream and local radio stations such as Chris Goldfinger & Tim Westwood show on BBC 1xtra, Danny Pepperseed, Busy 103 in Connecticut and several other European radio stations. On the local scene the song was played on ZIP 103 Fm by ZJ Elektra, ZJ Liquid and DJ Neil from Hot 102 FM. Delus is fast becoming an underground star and 2009 is his year to bridge the gap and break into mainstream dancehall. Look out because Delus is hear to claim his place.

Koshens' This Means Money (Hand Middle A Scratch Mi) Video
konshens_this_means_money_video.jpgKonshens started 2008 as a winner with his mega hit single ‘Winner’, which sneaked into the hearts of dancehall lovers. However, after being a winner it’s a fact that “Mi Hand Middle a Scratch Mi”. Before the release of ‘Hand Middle’- Konshens released several other hit songs such as ‘Rasta Imposter’, ‘Don’t Waste Yuh Talent’, ‘Tek Yuh Likkle Piece’ and the hardcore joint ‘Mi Have Mi Tings’. But, even with a collection of well received songs he failed to make an impact at Sting due to the fact that he didn’t got the chance to rehearse with the band because of an overseas engagement in Europe. He ended the year surrounded in controversy with his Natural Bridge management team accompanied by a lot of bad press. His fans are now looking to see if he will be able to mend his career during the course of this year and regain the momentum that ‘Winner gained him’.

With all the predictions made, the Dancehall is an ever-changing industry that can deal some devastating blows to an artist career. Only time will tell as to which one of these young talents will rise to the occasion and ‘run’ 09.

Kanye West Wants To Pose Nude?

kanye-west.jpgRapper Kanye West has always been one to break stereotypes and go outside the box, but is there a chance he could go too far? After hearing his most recent comments, you just might think so.

In a recent interview with Vibe, West said he'd like to pose nude ... one day to "break every rule ... of hip-hop."

"I definitely feel, like, in the next however many years, if I work out for two months, that I'll pose naked. I [want to] break every rule and mentality of hip-hop, of black culture, of American culture,” said 'Ye in Vibe's February issue.

If West felt brave enough to make the large leap, he wouldn't be the first to do it. According to AllHipHop.com, New York rap icon Big Daddy Kane posed partially nude in a June 1991 issue of Playgirl magazine. He also did a risqué three-way photo shoot with Madonna and super model Naomi Campbell, which appeared in Madonna's Sex book in 1992.

In addition to his nude ambitions, West revealed that he's eventually like to have "less fans," or a more devoted following.

"I made a decision. I wanna make popular music, but I want less fans," West told writer Sean Fennessey when asked if he was comfortable with fame. "I want the freedom of having less fans. It's like the freedom of having less money. If you have less money, you have less responsibility."

He goes on to clarify that when he says "less fans," he means a core fanbase who understand him, rather than a swell of "fly-by-night" followers that an artist of his stature would attract.

Mr. Vegas Dominates Pop Charts with "Mus Come A Road"

mr_vegas_must_come_a_road_reggae.jpgIt's a stone cold fact that nothing or no one can cool down Mr. Vegas' fiery, international smash "Mus Come a Road." The omnipresent Reggae hit "Mus Come a Road" is now competing against heavy hitters including JayZ, Justin Timberlake, Akon, Beyonce, T.I. and others on international pop charts.

This week, "Mus Come a Road" hit #6 on Germany's prestigious Black Music Chart -- up from #9 last week. Making a home on this chart for over six weeks, "Mus Come a Road," which features Barrington Levy, shows no signs of flinching. Although "Mus Come a Road" found a place on numerous pop charts over the past several months, it's presence on this chart is the song's highest to date. Even more impressive, "Mus Come a Road" is the only Reggae single on Germany's Black Music Chart -- beating out popular singles from mainstream artists.

"It pleases me to know the strength of Reggae music in international markets," commented Mr. Vegas recently regarding "Mus Come a Road's" overseas success. "It's quite an opportunity to have a place on the charts with some of today's biggest acts."

Serani's No Games gets new mix by Lil Wayne's engineer

serani_lil_wayne_mix_engineer_jamaica_no_games.jpgMaking a hit song is about more than writing a great song with great melodies over a great beat. As a hit-making producer and musician (Sean Paul’s We Be Burning, Matterhorn’s Dutty Whine, Beenie’s Back it Up and much more) Serani understands the importance of a top quality mix. Once a song is recorded in the studio it is handed over to a mix engineer, also referred to as "mixer", who creates what's called the "final mix" or "mixdown" of a song. The mixer takes all the elements that have been recorded and mixes them together with the aim of achieving a good balance of the instruments and vocal volumes, by tweaking the relative volume and frequency content of all the sounds.

“As a producer originally I had always admired the sound of T Pain’s music and always said I want him to mix my songs so I asked my manager to try and make it happen,” explained Serani.

“Our A&R at Universal Records knew Fabian Marasciullo, T Pain’s engineer, very well and reached out to him,” said manager Julian Jones-Griffith. “His immediate response was that he loved the song - he’d heard it many times on the radio and jumped at the opportunity. Turned out Fabian is also Lil Wayne’s personal Mixer too. The sonic difference between the original mix, which is still great, and Fabian’s version is astronomical.

Young Artists to ‘run’ 09 - I-Octane, Bramma, Wasp & Jah Vinci - Part 4 of 5

By Teflon Thug
OutAroad.com Writer

I-Octane's Different Page Video
i-octane_video_different_page.jpgI- Octane

Reggae singer I-Octane has been on a steady rise for some time now, but has stepped up the pace during the course of last year. He first gained a lot of national attention becoming a hit in the dancehall with ‘Gun Rise’ in collaboration with Teflon. His vocals are unmistakable and his lyrics are deep and very intellectual. His career rides off the strength of some solid hits such as ‘Run Yet’, ‘Poverty’ and ‘Stab Vampire’. His more recent song with Spragga Benz reminds us that he can easily touch base with the hardcore dancehall audience. There are many potential European tours in store for this artist if he continues with the momentum that he has started.

Bramma's Value of a Lady Video
bramma_value_of_a_lady_video.jpgOthers to look out for

Other upcoming stars that have shown they have the potential to shine in 09 are Bramma, Wasp and Jah Vinci.

Bramma has been creating a lot of buzz with his budding hit single ‘Guided By The Master’ a BigShip production. Another outstanding single from Bramma in 2008 was ‘Value of a Lady’ receiving heavy rotation on local radio stations and climbed into the top ten of several video countdown charts.

Wasp's Step To Dem Video
wasp_video_step_to_dem.jpgWasp is definitely one to look out for - however he has not been able to bridge the gap between the mix-tape world and the mainstream market. He created quiet a stir with ‘All These Tings’ early on in 08 showing that he has the potential to produce dancehall anthems. His most recent songs were ‘Step To Dem’ and Make Her Sweat ft. Don Corleon - both tracks were produced by Don Corleon.

To be entirely fair Jah Vinci musical success began to manifest very late in 2008. Being the newest member of the Vybz Kartel-led Portmore Empire Jah Vinci has proven to Jamaica that he can be a real “Stinger” who has the ability to tear up a one-drop rhythms or a fast-paced dancehall beats effortlessly. ‘Weh Dem A Go’ a collaboration with Vybz Kartel was one of 08’ biggest hits. Unfortunately, the fans were not able to put a face to the name at Sting, which would have been a huge boost to his career.

Andrew & Wada Blood's 'Hustle Til Day That I Die' - Video
andrew_%26_wada_blood_video_hustle_die.jpgAndrew and Wada Blood

This young duo, sons of international reggae/dancehall legend Junior One Blood Reid, is kicking down the doors of the music industry with the viciousness of hungry lions. Their first hit ‘Hustle Til The Day That I Die’ was horribly underrated, even though it was one of the better songs on the rhythm. The Bloods have decided that they will not make the same mistake twice with their latest effort on the ‘Gallis’ Rhythm entitled ‘La la la’. The Duo literally murders the track with killer lyrics and flow. It’s obvious that these kids are ready to tear 09.

Pamputtae's Good Good - Video
pamputtae_video_good_good_jamaica.jpgPamputae

Many have come and tried, but have failed to get the type of love that Lady Saw has in the dancehall, until now. Pamputtae is one of the most loved new female dancehall acts. Her presence and style is unmistakable and her raunchy lyrics never fail to ignite a crowd. She did her thing at last years’ staging of Sting and earned herself a mighty encore the moment she spits lines from her hit single Good Good (‘Pat Yuh Pu#*@y’). She will carry the torch for all the females through 09 with the ease of a seasoned veteran.

Barbee and Beenie Man dating? - “I’m focusing on my career”

barbee_barbie_girl_artiste_singer_jamaican_dancehall_sexy.jpgBy Krazy Katty
OutAroad.com Writer

Once again, there is a thick rumor flowing in the air that Bar-bee and Beenie Man are at it again.

According to a local Jamaican website, who posted a story saying Barbee and Beenie Man spotted lunching at a classy uptown restaurant seems to be just another wild rumor.

OLD YEAR DRAMA

When OutAroad.com contacted Barbee about the situation, she laughed before saying - “With regards to rumors (lies) that were posted recently on a particular website, I only have a few words to say. No disrespect to anyone, but I am quite sure that decent members of the Reggae Fraternity are absolutely tired of OLD YEAR DRAMA. In fact, I am just as tired of it, or perhaps even more tired of it than the general public. Publishing such rumors and lies is destructive and cannot truthfully help anyone. Lil' Kim Wants Nothing To Do With The Notorious B.I.G. Movie

lil_kim-lachapelle_sexy_photo.jpgLil' Kim was the Notorious B.I.G.'s protege, best friend and lover but the pint-sized rap star wants nothing to do with the upcoming biopic of the late hip hop star's life.

The upcoming movie, Notorious, slated to release this month, stars Angela Basset as Biggie's mom, Voletta Wallace and a cast full of hip-hop characters that epitomized early 90s rap---everyone from Junior M.A.F.I.A. to Tupac Shakur.

While it isn't clear what Kim is upset about, the actress cast as her, Naturi Naughton, wasn't even able to interview or speak with her as research for the role.

Instead she just, "researched on my own. I studied videos and spent time in Brooklyn to get an idea of the mentality," Naturi said.

Probably the most amusing piece of this news item is what all of us have chuckled over everytime Ready To Die is played.

As rapper Fabulous said: "He'd love that dorky white guys are rapping his songs at bars. We come from a world where we don't know their lifestyles, and they don't know ours."

Hey now. Don't steal the thunder from a dorky white boys being Big Poppa in their minds.

Vybz Kartel - "Dem Bowy Deh A Coward"

Dem Bwoy Deh A Coward - Vybz Kartel

vybz_kartel_war_dj_smurf_pics.jpgArtist: Vybz Kartel
Song: Dem Bowy Deh A Coward
Producer: Dj Smurf
Rhythm: Jungle Lion

The roars of ferocious lion, which introduce the instrumentals of all of the songs on Dj Smurf’s Jungle Lion rhythm, are fitting to all of the songs. Vybz Kartel is particularly cross on this production as he is adamant that ‘Dem Bowy Deh A Coward’ and goes to great lengths to convince the listener that they in fact are!

Kartel is his usual self, firing unforgivable hardcore lyrics over the track with the lethality of a Gatling machine gun but the accuracy of a sniper rifle. How can you deny the potency of lines like: "circle di enz wid mi gal cuz nuff bowwy no bad like har’ and ‘dem fi know seh we ah hot head weh squeeze bullet inna face like blackhead"? The man is on fire in this song scorches his opponents.

This song is definitely the hard hitter that we have become accustom to hearing from Vybz Kartel. He compliments the hardcore aspect of his lyrics with clever word play and even the historical implications of a ‘bread fruit coward’, making reference to the old time Jamaican belief that eating too much bread fruit would turn you into a coward! Look out for ‘Dem Bowy Deh A Coward’ to be listed amongst Kartel’s classic songs.

Young Artists to ‘run’ 09 - Blak Ryno & Chino - Part 1 of 5

black_ryno_rhino_chino_blak_photos.jpg

By Teflon Thug
OutAroad.com Writer

With the turning of any year, many questions become apparent in the music industry, namely - who will be the hottest artists for the coming year. The music industry, particularly the Jamaican dancehall scene is very competitive and difficult to maneuver due to the politics that is involved. It is much easier to predict the level of success that established artist like Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel and Mavado will enjoy but it ids much more interesting to see how young artists evolve and capture the spotlight or fade into oblivion like so many others before them. A few artist have been ‘doing their thing’ during 2008 and it is apparent that they have a lot to live up to in the coming year.

The list of artistes that OutAroad.com predicting to shine for 09 are Black Ryno, Laden, Delus, Konshens, Charly Black, Pamputtae, Andrew & Wada Blood, Chino, I-Octane, Bramma, Wasp and Jah Vinci. Each day OutAroad.com will feature two artistes from the list.

Blak Ryno's Sting Performance
blak_black_ryno_sting_2008.jpgBlack Ryno

‘See It Deh’, the phrase coined by this young member of the Vybz Kartel led Portmore Empire has become one of dancehall most promising acts over the past year. With his high-pitched voice, he spits unforgiving hardcore gangster lyrics on tracks with heat of an open flame. Ryno has an impressive catalog of hits for a young artist including the popular ‘Mek Di Paper’ and ‘Thug Anthem’ for the thugs and ‘Ben Ova’ for the females. He demonstrated later in the year that he could easily flow over the mellow Notnice produced Remand rhythm with the more recent ‘Real Stingga’. He ended the year with an impressive Sting performance, cementing in the minds of haters and lovers alike that he is ready to ‘run di place’.

Chino's 'Protected' FT. Steven
chino_video_protected.jpgChino

It’s not easy being the son of a legendary reggae singer, just ask the Marley sons. You have the impossible task of proving to the fans and critics that you are worthy to be in the music business and that you are not riding on the fame and success of your famous relative. Chino has faced this and is winning the battle without messing up his designer shades! He has had to write twice as potent, flow three times as hard on the tracks and be ten times as creative to find his own place in the dancehall scene, and create his own identity instead of being referred to as Freddy McGregor’s son. His latest efforts ‘Ruff It Up’ and ‘Protected’ show that he is hear to make good music and keep the Big Ship sailing.

NO... we're not talking about JAY-Z.

But Heroes star ALI LARTER does gets her claws into BEYONCE's onscreen hubby in their saucy new film Obsessed.

The X-rated movie tells the tale of a rampant stalker who threatens to break-up a happily married couple.

RocknRolla actor IDRIS ELBA is the lucky man nestled between these two hotties.

The Crazy In Love singer's previous silver screen attempt was overshadowed by the incredible JENNIFER HUDSON in Dreamgirls.

And unfortunately for Beyonce, it looks like Ali's hot body could steal the show this time around too.

Macka Diamond & Fire Links 'Couple Up'

Couple Up - Macka Diamond and Fire Links

fire-links-macka-diamond-couple-up-photos-dancehall-selector.jpgBy Di Reviewer
OutAroad.com Writer

Artists: Macka Diamond ft Fire Links
Song: Couple Up

Following the success of her monster hit single ‘Hoola Hoop’ it must have been a difficult task to find the perfect follow-up, but dancehall Dj Macka Diamond has easily done it again. Her latest effort called ‘Couple Up’, which features the unmistakable vocals of iconic selector Fire Links is guaranteed to become a hit. The beat is infectious, the lyrics are catchy and both artists sound great together, this will definitely be one of the few ‘daggering’ songs that will captivate the dancehall for the early part of 2009.

Macka Diamond has once again proven why she has been one of the more dominant female entertainers. She has raised to the demand of current dancehall trends and created a song that is ideal. She has captured the ‘daggering vibe’ with lyrics like ‘mi naa wear no draws’ which create a vivid picture as to what takes place at popular Jamaican street dances.

‘Couple Up’ has the potential to further cement Macka Diamond’ status in the dancehall as one of Jamaica’s best female acts. It shows even with the success that she has been experiencing, she is in tune with what is happening in the streets. The fans are expecting big things from Macka Diamond for this year - and already she is doing well.

KipRich releases "Coward" - Song lashes out at Monster Empire

Shortly after his stunning Sting 2008 performance, KipRich wrote and released the single Coward, which throws lyrical daggers at his opponents, the Monster Empire, which consists of Ghost, Round Head and General B.

The song was produced by DJ Sparks (CEO of Twelve 9 Records) on the FLUFFAZ riddim

At the latter part of 2008, the KipRich-Monster Empire feud increased in momentum after KipRich released the track, Dem Caan Cow Wi -- and as Sting approached, it was undoubtedly one of the clashes to watch out for. However, that night as KipRich issued his ultimatum to the trio in his full black, pseudo-assassin wear...the Monster Empire did not enter the stage to take up the challenge in front of the over-35,000-person venue.

Beenie Man beaten by members of the Alliance?

bounty_killer_beenie_man_beaten_camp_fire_jamaica_show_photos.jpg

What happened at Camp Fire is the question everyone is asking? Some people are saying that Mavado’s entourage and Kartel’s entourage had a flare up while others are saying that members of the Bounty Killer-led Alliance attacked Beenie Man and members of his entourage. However, there’s no way Mavado’s entourage and Vybz Kartel’s entourage could have been in any tussle as Vybz Kartel weren’t even billed for the show.

Just as we were about to contact, the Alliance camp an email was already sent to us from Julian Jones-Griffith who’s the spokes person/management for the Alliance. Below is a copy his statement explaining what took place at Camp Fire.

Several people have called members of the Alliance today with news that Beenie Man was on the radio saying words to the effect that he and his entourage were beaten up by the Alliance or people attending Camp Fire with the Alliance in Ewarton last night (December 31, 2008).

If indeed Beenie Man did that, we would just like to state categorically that it’s untrue and we are in the process of acquiring the recording from the radio station and will not hesitate to take legal action against Beenie if our lawyers deem any of his statements to be slanderous and/or libelous.

Tina Nunezz wants to do it 'Right Here'

Right Here - Tina Nunezz

TINA-NUNEZZ-singer-female.jpgBy Di Reviewer
OutAroad.com Writer

Artist: Tina Nunezz
Song: Right Here
Producers: Young Veterans

‘Right Here’, singer/song writer Tina Nunezz’ latest effort is a pleasant departure from what most other Jamaican female artists are producing. Tina sings raunchy, suggestive lyrics over a fast paced hip-hop inspired beat. Her voice is so sweet that it is almost surreal to hear how hardcore her lyrics are, but that is what makes the song so interesting. Already, this song is been played heavily on local radio stations and should top the success of her collaboration ‘Like this’ with dancehall veteran Mad Cobra on Leftsides' Sand Fly Rhythm.

In an age where music listeners demand versatility from artist, it is the artiste duty to deliver. It is almost unfair to categorize Nunezz as a ‘dancehall singer’ when she also sings reggae and hip-hop just as well. Tina is a part of the artiste movements who are not afraid to explore their musical capabilities.

Tina Nunezz has had the opportunity to work with Jamaica’s top producers including Snow Cone, Computer Paul and the legendary duo Sly & Robbie. This has reflected in the sound of her music as all of the tracks that she has done to date are of an international standard. ‘Right Here’ is an excellent cross- over song and undoubtedly has the potential to be Nunezz’ biggest hit and could propel her career to international status.
