I am a 19 year old Jamaican born young lady, who currently resides in Miami. I am what you might consider to be attractive as I have a light complexion, with long hair and a coco cola bottle shape. Shynz and Scorpion are no strangers to the music industry as they have been in the business for some time now, but there latest single called 'No More' is definitely a refreshing change to what is on the forefront of Jamaican music right now. The duo must be commended for always maintain a unique sound and particularly for using original tracks for all their songs which places them in a class of their own and also helps with their international appeal.

It’s always nice to hear a singer - DJ combination that works well and these two work excellently together. Shynz flows smoothly over the R&B track with his silky voice while Scorpion provides the hardcore Jamaican pattern creating ying - yang harmony. Although Scorpions lyrics are not as cutting edge as a Vybz kartel’s or Aidonia’s, the simple rhyming technique he uses works well for the type of song and also the beat.

Delano’s Birthday Bash Tempted Hawaii is set to kick off the RTI weekend this Thursday July 31st at Temptation Beach in Negril.

Patrons will have easy access to the venue which is next door to Fire Fly and Chances. ‘We’re going to transform the venue into Hawaii, so people need to come out and see it. There will be a sign at the venue so people won’t miss it’, promoter Delano Thomas explained.

This year’s RTI theme is based around World Parties and each party under the RTI brand will have a different theme. ‘We’re having huge bars, spacious dance floor areas, tikki huts, lounges and the ambiance will be great’, said Thomas.

Apart from the Renaissance Disco, patrons to Tempted will be treated to intense musical juggling from Black Chiney, ZJ Liquid and Tony Matterhorn.

The Tempted Hawaii party is also the prelude to the Renaissance 19th anniversary party Flight #19 which will take place on August 9 at the Palisadoes Go Kart Track in Kingston.

The RTI season band will guarantee patrons into the drink inclusive Tempted Hawaii party. Patrons without season band will pay $1500 at the gate. The first 100 ladies will enter free.

Rapper 50 Cent has purchased the rights to his baby mamas life story so she can never release a book about their relationship.

Shaniqua Tomkins is currently involved in a bitter custody battle with 50, real name Curtis Jackson over the custody and child support of their 11 year old son, Marquise.

Fiddy can't be sure of the outcome of his court case but he can be certain his Ex will never pen a book about their time spent together.

He says, “I bought the rights to her life story so she couldn't write a book....I seen her being ridiculous; I knew her capabilities of going in that direction, so I bought the rights.”

Tomkins recently managed to get a restraining order to stop Fiddy being in the same building as her. The bitter custody battle is set to resume on 15 September.

Lets hope 50 doesn't put another movie out with him starring in it.

Dancehall Superstar/King of Controversy Beenie Man will be heading to tax court today (July 29, 2008) to fight tax evasion charges amounting to J$47-million (US$ 661, 00).

Last month during trial Beenie Man’s lawyers stated that the deejay will fight the charges as he continues to believe that his former Management Team (Shocking Vibes) should be held responsible for his unpaid taxes.

In October last year (2007) a warrant was issued for the arrest of Beenie Man after he failed to appear in court to answer to several tax evasion charges.

After giving a wonderful performance at Reggae Sumfest, Terry Linen is presently on a mini tour of the United States that will see the singer making appearances in Washington, Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Florida which was the first scheduled stop on the list.

Apart from performing for his fans, the singer also engaged in several radio interviews that had the switch boards filled with females wanting to know more about the soulful singer. On that same day Terry Linen graced the stage at Top Hop night club where he was billed as the headline act. Terry Linen swept the females off the ground with songs like ‘Mood For Love’ which occupied the #1 position for three weeks on Richie B’s Top 20 Reggae Singles, he then convinced the females that he’s a better person with the lyrics of his mega hit single ‘Better Man’.

Terry Linen’s open act Newsman also gave a stunning performance with his imaginary news reporting which had most of the audience laughing out “dem belly bottom”, while others laugh “til dem cry”.

Terry Linen who is a member of the Uplifting Music International Crew will be back in Jamaica on August 11.

I’m trying really hard not to giggle while I type this post. As we’ve talked about before on this blog, DMX was arrested earlier this month for identity theft - after giving a fake name at a Mayo health clinic to avoid paying a medical bill there.

Apparently during his hearing on Thursday, the Associated Press said DMX rapped for reporters outside of the courtroom and reminded them to get his album on Oct. 14.

“If and when you ever fall down, get back up … Stand for something or fall for everything. Wait for the right pitch, you’ll miss every swing,” DMX said.

If that’s the case, DMX has been striking out more times than Steve Urkel trying to bag a one-night-stand with Laura Winslow (Gasp! A “Family Matters” reference…. did I do that?). May Jaleel White and Kellie Shanygne Williams’ careers both rest in peace.

How awesome would it be if DMX’s trial was televised? I’m already fantasizing how his trial would go down:

“How does the defendant, Mr. Simmons plea?”

“Your honor, I plead, whaaaaaat! Arf arf! Oct. 14, nah mean?”

I guess when it comes to entertainment, “X Gon’ Give it to Ya.” This has got to be one of my favorite celebrity courtroom moments, right up there with Michael Jackson showing up to court in pajamas.

In a musical era where melodious, hooks and witty lyrics are key ingredients to creating a hit, Yowon scores big with this track. It is a cool combination of Roots rock reggae and R&B, which he dissects with a hardcore dancehall flow. His international appeal also lies in his tasteful use of auto tune on the chorus, which is often overused by many singers making their voices sound generic.

However, what makes this song stand out is Yowon’s lyrics that will win over any listeners ears with lines like;

Konshens will have to be extremely persistent if he intends to be a winner this year, this after the Broadcasting Commission placed a ban on his break out single Winner.

According to the Broadcasting Commission, the single is not fit for airplay and as such should be removed from the playlist of radio disc jocks.

When contacted by OutAroad.com Konshens was in a very subtle and reflective mood and was not about to dispute the decision arrived at by the Commission.

“There is no way I am going to dispute the Broadcasting Commission’s decision of believing that the song is not fit for airplay,” reasoned Konshens, adding, “The song is simply explaining the mindset of any individual who works vigorously but still cannot see the fruits of their labour.”

Despite citing that the single was aimed at uplifting individuals to strive for better and to try to excel in their endeavours, Konshens was adamant that there was no animosity between himself and the Commission.

“It is sad to know that a decision of this magnitude was arrived at, but I understand that the Broadcasting Commission is simply doing their jobs,” reasoned Konshens.

50 Cent has slapped fast-food chain Taco Bell with a lawsuit for using his name without his expressed permission. The lawsuit claims Taco Bell Corp used his moniker in their 'Why Pay more?' print ad campaign, which suggests that 50 Cent change his name to 79, 89, or 99 Cent, in support of the chain's discounted menu items.

"Without seeking or obtaining Jackson's authorization, defendant Taco Bell made him the star and focus of its nationwide advertising campaign by using his name, persona and trademark to promote Taco Bell's business and products," stated the federal lawsuit.

50 Cent claims the fast-food chain sent a phony letter to the media, but failed to seek his permission or inform him of the request. The rapper's lawyer Peter D. Raymond said his client wasn't aware of the letter until it made the news.

"We know that you adopted the name 50 Cent years ago as a metaphor for change," the letter read. "We at Taco Bell are also huge advocates for change. We encourage you to 'Think Outside the Bun' and hope you accept our offer."

Obviously 50 isn't accepting their offer. Instead, the rapper's is seeking $4 million in damages.

Dancehall Giants such as Beenie Man, Vybz Kartel and Mavado all did tremendously well at Reggae Sumfest on Dancehall Night. But Natural Bridge Recording artiste Konshens stage entry will definitely be one to remember - in other words “one of a kind”.

“A which artiste dis a come on now,” a patron shouted. As the only thing the audience could see was a mini documentary that quickly displayed - how Jamaica’s newest sensation fought his way through the music industry to become ‘Di Winna’ he is today. A few sound tracks of the great Malcolm X voice were also inserted, warning “he’s to be respected as a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day which we intent to bring into existence by any means necessary”.

With such a mind blowing intro the audience was anxiously anticipating to get a taste of Konshens’ performance - he came, he saw and he conquered.

Konshens is one of the few artistes who burst onto the scene and made the heavyweight line up of artistes billed to perform on Reggae Sumfest Dancehall Night in such a short time.

The Singer/Deejay started off his short and influential performance with his mega hit single “This Year Mi Affi Bi Di Winna” which had the audience shouting out “because mi nah guh mi yard without my youth them dinner”.

Dear Mr. Proppa Fix, I have a problem and need your help. I have been married for 4 years and I love my husband, I know he loves me too, at least so I thought. But lately things are just not the same - he doesn’t seem to appreciate me anymore.

I wash, cook, clean, pamper him, have sex and do all the normal things that are expected in a marriage. Whenever he gets text messages or phone calls he hides them. I found a few that was sent to him and they sound like something you would say to your man. I also saw a few little sexy notes that he sent and he has never ever wrote text messages like that to me. Is it true that R&B singer Rihanna may have used voodoo (Jamaican terms Obeah) to have Chris Brown going nuts over her?

Well according to one of America’s leading gossip websites Mediatake.com, it is rumored that Chris Brown’s mother is not too happy with the speed that her son's relationship with R&B singer Rihanna is progressing. According to one of MediaTakeOut.com's readers - who goes to the same hairdresser with Chris Brown's mom - she's been openly complaining about the couple.

And it gets more odd. MediaTakeOut.com's snitch claims that Chris' mom believes that Rihanna may have used "roots," or voodoo, to get Chris Brown to fall head over heels over her. The insider explained, "When she started talking that craziness everyone [at the salon] started laughing - but she was dead serious."

Rihanna has spoken out about the trouble she had growing up in Barbados with her lighter skin complexion.

The Umbrella-ella-ella singer said of her difficult school years, “It made me angry; it made me want to fight in my younger years. Having lighter skin wasn’t a problem in my household, but it was when I went to school - which really confused me at first.”

Rih, speaking to InStyle magazine also spoke of the trauma she suffered while growing up “For the first six years of school, I would go home traumatized. The harassment continued to my very last day of elementary school.”

I love Beenie Man even if him perform good or not but I have to really give credit to Mavado him managed to have the audience rocking throughout his performance normally a only Beenie Man alone do them things deh. But I am not going to say Mavado’s performance was better than Beenie Man’s performance likewise for Beenie’s. I think they both gave a stunning performance.

The event was great and I would love to say big up to all the artistes who performed. Mavado performance was great but I think what makes Beenie Man’s performance a better set is the fact that him have the girls them pon him side. There is no way Beenie Man could have flopped because him have a catalog of hot songs and at the end of the day he’s not just an artiste but also an entertainer.

The war lord Bounty Killer was arrested for using indecent language during his performance on stage at the prestigious reggae festival Reggae Sumfest, held in Montego Bay (Jamaica).

Bounty Killer started off his performance on a high but fans got bitter, cross, angry and miserable when the Killer decided to launch an attack on a few entertainers. He was greeted with boos from a section of the audience who was not going to allow any such behavior of the Killer.

Dancehall artist Latifa Brown a.k.a TIFA, on the heels of her "Bottom of the Barrel" music video release, has embarked on her first European Tour.

Over the next six weeks, Tifa and producers Ward 21 will be touring countries all across Europe, namely to Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia and Berlin. The tour is scheduled to begin on July 18th and will continue until the 30th of August. This is is the first major tour for the artist who burst onto the dancehall scene in early 2005.

"I'm very excited about this tour, and I look forward to connecting with my European fans over the next six weeks," stated a noticeably excited Tifa before departing the island.

Vybz Kartel’s ‘Fatta Than A Pound’, “di girls dem anthem inna di dancehall” is still ‘fatting’ up the #1 position on the OutAroad.com Top 20 Hot Singles chart.

Aww, a newly-wed couple, isn’t it a wholesome sight to see?

They say love will last forever between couples who are destined to be soulmates, or in the case of many UK women, until a footballer’s money runs out. Jay-Z and Beyoncé have a problem based on their career choice of being musicians. While they’re not locked away in a studio, they are off around the globe touring at various gigs and festivals.

It appears that poor Jay-Z is missing his darling wife so much, he’s turned into a love-struck puppy. At a recent gig in Nigeria, he asked on his rider for a melon to be split in half and transformed in to a replica of his wife’s boobies. We just have one question: Are Beyoncé’s boobs green, sweet and edible?

At the Africa Rising concert in Abuja, Jay-Z made his strange request. Now, we’re not ones to criticise and point out the obvious, but if he missed the sight of his wife’s boobs so much, why did he not whip out his diamond encrusted blinged-up phone and look at a mucky photo? Or failing that, get her to send one? Mobile technology is a wonderful thing.

Maybe Jay-Z is just incorporating two of his favorite things together, fruit and ladies’ naked bits. If we had it our way, we’d incorporate pancakes and bowling together, but sadly we aren’t totally sure how that would work. Back to the drawing board for that one.

It was just weeks ago Timberlee’s label-mate Tifa was held up and robbed of her Motorola Flip W490 phone at gun point while leaving the parking lot of a party she attended in the Red Hills area. This time; the victim is Timberlee whose white 2000 Honda Civic car was stolen from the lawns of her home in Stony Hill.

When OutAroad.com heard of the incident, we immediately called Timberlee in concerned of her safety.

“The first thing I want to say is thank God because I could have gone outside to attend to the dogs barking, but he kept me inside. There is no way I would have believe that someone was outside trying to steal my car knowing that the King Alarm sign is on the gate. If my Aunt didn’t ask me where my car is, I would not have a clue that my 'Princes' (car) has been stolen.

She then went on to say that these crooks seems to be professional car thieves as there were no sign of forced entry or debris on the ground.

While writing this article I am pondering whether it is under the correct heading. I was thinking more along the line that Abijah should in fact be written about under the heading “One Hit Wonder.”

Aside from Revelation in 2001 and a remake of Bob Marley’s Sun is Shining in 2005, which we don’t really consider because it is not original, Jamaica has not really heard any other mainstream production from the man who dubs himself ‘The Ambassador for Peace.’

Abijah did commercials for the Jamaica Tourist Board and has realized the dream many who enter music in Jamaica wish to become a reality, performing on Reggae Sumfest. He has spoken at the prestigious Harvard and Oxford Universities and is a part of the "Healing the Nation" program here in Jamaica.

Calm Dung Yuh Nerves, a compelling single by OutAroad.com Break Out Artiste for the Month of July, Bescenta, is testimony of where reggae music should be heading.

Arguments have constantly been ‘thrown about’ that reggae and dancehall music has been on the decline in terms of quality, creativity and the message portrayed. On the track, Calm Dung Yuh Nerves, Bescenta did not replicate the negative messages sung by his peers in the local dancehall arena, instead he spits some positive lyrics.

With most of our young and upcoming artistes preaching violence, it is a reprieve to know that there are still a few positive thinking ones in the lot. The song Calm Dung Yuh Nerves speaks against violence and Bescenta’s vocals harmonizing with the rhythm as he preaches such a positive message will undoubtedly draw the listener closer.

Hip hop can be like professional wrestling. Although there are no official hip hop champions, occasionally in hip hop there is a “franchise champion” a Hulk Hogan, a Rock, a Stone Cold Steve Austin to carry the brand, carry the label. In hip hop it has been arguably, Run DMC, Public Enemy, Hammer, NWA, Biggie, Tupac, Dre, Snoop, Jay Z, Eminem ,50 Cent, Kanye, and now Lil Wayne to carry the hip hop brand, and puts it on his back. Some of these artist have been transitional champions. ie.. a champion in between eras, for instance, Jay Z inherited what was left of the east coast /west coast bullshit and became a mogul. Which artist are or were transitional champions and which endure and “carry the brand” can usually be seen with hindsight. Whatever the case maybe Lil Wayne now sits on top of the hip hop game.

The hype leading up to Lil Wayne's most recent album “Tha Carter III” has not been seen in the music industry in some time. The New Orleans born rapper illustrates how the so-called dying music industry and hip hop along with it how to survive, make money, and thrive. The answer: make good music and it will sell. Tha Carter III, sold more records during the first week of release than any other artist this year with over 1 million copies during the first week. It is one of the highest selling albums this year.

The album features songs that you already know, meaning they have been on radio rotation for months. It is commercially friendly without trying to sound commercial. The albums arrangement is great it provides appetizers such as “3 Peat” and “A milli” which is also getting heavy radio rotation. “Dr. Carter” is clever and reminiscent of something Ice Cube would drop. The Babyface featured “Comfortable” and the guitar driven “Playing With Fire” work and provide great balance.

Dear Mr. Proppa Fix, I’m confused about a certain situation and I need some advice. I have been dating this girl for a while now. Early in our relationship we talked about oral sex and we both shared the same view about it being repulsive and we decided we would never do it. We’ve been having sex for about 5 months now and it has been very good. About a week ago she related to me what her friends were telling her about oral sex as they have been involved in it. Dancehall's ace female deejay, Marion "Lady Saw Hall", is now in the middle of her month-long European tour, and the reviews so far have been great. The artiste and her entourage have been visiting major cities in countries such as France, Germany, Spain, Holland and Denmark, leaving a trail of satisfied fans.

"Saw is one artiste who can always be counted on to charm her audience with her onstage antics that adds vibes and have the audience laughing. She has a strong fan base in Europe and with every visit, she adds to it", her publicist, Ray Alexander says.

Lady Saw started her series of shows on July 3 in Denmark, and has been rocking Europe with her memorable performances. Her hectic first week schedule included performances at some major reggae concerts including the Roskilde Festival in Kolnon, Germany, on July 4; July 5 in France at the Eurockennes Festival, then July 6 in Amsterdam, Holland at Two Sevens Splash. On July 8, performed in Frankfurt, then the tour moved to Zurich, Switzerland for another event, Moods and then on to Italy for the Rototom Festival, which will have a Dancehall Night for the first time in its history.

The cancellation of the Finish Line party because Mavado of the Alliance and Vybz Kartel of Portmore Empire were billed for the same show is a testimony of where dancehall is today.

An endemic has emerged into the genre - crews. The affiliation with either the Bounty Killer led Alliance or the Vybz Kartel led Portmore Empire is seen as the ultimate way to get recognition for some dancehall acts. Many upcoming artistes think it is necessary to be aligned with either of the two factions in order to get their songs playing on the radio or in the dances. However, the attachment is not always a bed of roses. This was evident when Einstein, who is an associate of the Alliance, was badly beaten by members of the Portmore Empire after he tried to take the microphone at a session in Portmore. Tensions also brewed when Aidonia left the company of the Alliance to join forces with the Empire.

It is obvious that Mavado is special to his fans and maybe that is the reason he sang the song I’m So Special. The ‘Gangsta For Life’ has emerged on top of OutAroad.com ‘Summer Ruler’ poll. Mavado, who is the stronghold of the Alliance, copped more votes than the likes of Vybz Kartel and Beenie Man.

From a tally of over 200 votes received via our comments and email responses, Mavado walked away with 36% of the votes, while it was a tie between Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel who both got 31%. The remaining two per cent was split between Elephant Man, Assassin and Busy Signal and Aidonia who were not on the list.

Serani and Bugle did get a little love from our voters, but no one saw them as potential ‘Summer Rulers’. There was concern that Busy Signal was left off the list and several persons queried his absence. Surprisingly persons left comments saying Aidonia should have been on the list, however, we left him off because he is now lacking momentum on the airwaves.

For Merciless it is not about being lost in the music, it is about not being able to be found, literally. The last we heard of Merciless was that he was in lock up in the United States, and there was rumours circulating within the entertainment fraternity that he was in Miami ‘running taxi.’

Whatever the situation is with ‘The Gal Dem Gizadda’ one thing is for sure, he once gripped the attention of the dancehall arena.

Merciless blast to the pinnacle of dancehall in 2000 at the annual Sting festival when he annihilated three of dancehall’s biggest guns Ninja Man, Bounty Killer and Beenie Man. Dressed for war in army fatigue and with his face painted to match his striking attire, Merciless waited patiently as he sounded his war cry: “Real war mi come, … “light!, b*mb*h*le dead tonight.”

Ninja and Merciless were head to head initially, however, Merciless used his witty rhymes and chatter to win over the crowd. His line “It look like yuh lef’ yuh under pants inna Kid Ralph prison cell,” got the better of Ninja Man who struggled to find a comeback.

“How Laing fi inna him right mind and clash mi wid ‘Junkie’ (Ninja Man), sen’ out bl**dcl**t Bounty,” Warhead said to thunderous roars from the crowd. The Killa was no match for Merciless who easily dismissed him. Beenie Man soon joined the fracas and was himself embarrassed. After that famous clash, Merciless killed three goats, each representing the three-dancehall giants that he slewed.

I’m living in the UK. About two years back I met this guy on a web site who’s from Jamaica, ever since the first time we chatted we just clicked and we’ve been chatting and communicating via phone since then. When even I’m chatting or speaking to him I just feel really happy. I think about him 24/7 and I would really like to spend the rest of my life with him. I know it might sound silly but I love him with all my heart, since I’ve started chatting with him and we decided to have a long distance relationship. I haven’t been with any other guy it’s like no one else matters or interests me. I just want to wait for him.

The problem is that my family and friends don’t see things the way I do. They are saying that there’s no way I can be in love with someone I’ve never met in person before and that things will never work out. Everyone is saying that he probably has his girl in Jamaica and he’s just using me, but I just can’t get myself to believe that. It’s not like he asks me for money or anything like that, we just chat and make plans as to how we’re going to work towards having a future together. I’m suppose to be meeting him this July for the first time and I’m really excited and looking forward to it but the way everyone else is acting it’s just stressing me out. They are making judgments about him and also talking him down because he’s not as well off as I am.

Born Bryden Bescenta Wilkins, in the cool hills of St Andrew Hills, this soulful singer’s soothing melodies calms the nerves and relaxes the soul. His unique vocals are quite intriguing and his musical interaction with his audience is breathtaking.

His talent breaks down barriers and walk as if uninterrupted over mountains, in this regard we present to you Bescenta, our Break Out Artiste for this month.

Although Bescenta is aware of the importance of the business aspect of music and takes it seriously, he is also one who pursues it for the ‘power’ it gives. It is through his music that he can spread positive messages and reach persons from different social class and geographical locations. Bescenta is a rare combination of intensity, confidence and humility.

From the tough neighbourhood of Gregory Park, St. Catherine, Clayton Ranger, otherwise known as Encore, emerged despite the daily struggles that surrounded him.

His early childhood replicates the hostile environment in which he was nurtured, however his attitude bloomed in a more positive direction. Encore did not only have to contend with his harsh immediate surroundings but also the hustle and bustle of the inner city of Kingston where he attended school.

Mentally he had a dream and his goal was to be involved in music. From an early age, he began writing music and had to make tough decisions. One such decision was to choose between his parents when they separated during his childhood. That decision was the defining factor in honing the Encore as an artiste.

Clayton’s father was a rather strict individual, while his mother offered measured freedom. It was in light of his mother’s softer side that he chooses to live with her. This newfound freedom allowed him to start expressing himself musically.

Encore would stay out well beyond his curfew to familiarize himself with the dancehall scenes to which he was exposed. This early love for music, dancehall in particular, was further nurtured when he began writing his own material and performing on stage shows in and around Portmore and Kingston.

However, go light on this creation from Axel Wichterbich of Marblue Villa. Made with cream, irish potato and yam, it’s delicious but sinfully rich.

Wichterbich, an architect from Cologne, Germany, says he first made this Yam au Gratin when a villa guest wanted Potato au Gratin. But, with no potatoes on hand, he substituted yellow yam. “Irish potato only has one taste but the yam and sweet potato give you a better flavour.”

Wichterbich who, with his wife Andrea, owns Marblue Villa in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth, says he learned to cook because his mother and grandmother were always cooking. He honed his kitchen skills with the help of a friend in Cologne. He makes a wicked goat dish, based on German Sauerbrate, he says. Instead of beef, he marinates goat meat for six days in a mixture that includes red wine vinegar, bay leaf and onion. “With the goat it’s even nicer.”

This architect, turned cook, who visited Jamaica for the first time seven years ago and took up residence two years later, also makes a mackerel rundown with balsamic vinegar.

The line up was impressive, with an international flavour, consisting of international crooners such has John Legend, Mario and Billy Ocean, but with The Money Goddess in town, and being the lone female on the second night of the three night music festival, she not only came and saw, but also conquered, leaving her fans wanting more, even after earning encores too many to mention.

The Money Goddess was in fine form, going through her slew of hits, which had the natives of St. Kitts going word for word and line for line with her.

Her half-an-hour set was hot from start to finish, and from the outfit to the lyrics. Macka had the men drooling and the women thinking about doing a few more crunches, because if fitness was a class, Macka passed it with flying colors.

Impressive as Macka’s performance was, she was not alone, because there were also great performances from other Jamaican heavyweights on the bill, such as, Busy Signal, Pluto Shervington, Ernie Smith and the ever smooth, Boris Gardener.

Beenie Man one of Jamaica's longest reigning dancehall artiste continues to top international and local charts, Beenie seems to be on a never ending hold of the top.

The 'Doc' scorching single 'Wine Gal' is in the #1 spot on the New York Top 30 Reggae singles chart also copping the #2 position on South Florida's Top 20 singles chart, it has also allowed him to gain his first #1 single for this year locally on the Hype TV's Top 20 singles chart which it kept hold for six weeks also spent three weeks on top of the Richie B's Jamaica Music Countdown Chart and RE TV Dancehall chart which is still maintaining a hold in the top ten position on all three charts locally.

According to TMZ, DMX has been arrested again:

DMX was arrested again today in Arizona. He showed up for a court hearing, but had a bench warrant out for his arrest, so they busted him. DMX was busted June 27 after he allegedly tried to buy drugs from an undercover officer. He was also busted on June 23, May 9 and May 7.

We’re gotsta give up to DMX - it’s not often that we find ourselves speechless - but yet here we are. Kudos DMX - you done screwed up royally.

Here at OutAroad.com we are trying to find out which dancehall artiste is going to ‘run’ the summer. We have decided that the best way to find out is to get you involved. Last year almost everyone readily agreed that Munga Honourable was sizzling. The ‘Gangsta Ras’ had several smashing hits that cemented themselves onto the tongues of dancehall music lovers. However, Munga has lost that momentum and this year won’t be considered for the ‘pick of the summer list’.

On our list, we have the fiery Vybz Kartel, the intense Mavado, the blazing Beenie Man, the relentless Assassin, the energetic Elephant Man, and new comers Bugle and Serani (Daseca).

Vybz Kartel has been one of the most consistent dancehall acts in recent time and has a plethora of hardcore dancehall hits under his belt. For this summer, we can expect a lot from the former Alliance member as his palette just keeps growing with songs that appeal to his ever-growing fan base. Some of Kartel’s more vibrant songs going into the summer are: Fatta Than a Pound, My Scheme, Trailer Load of Money, Money Fi Spend, Tightest Punanny, and Broad Daylight.

"Markkie" began studying different styles of music at a young age. As a producer/singer/songwriter, Markkie he brings his own definition to music.

At the age of 16, Markkie was forced to leave home with dream and the clothes on his back. This is where his journey began. The road to fulfill his dream has been one of many ups and downs. After finishing high school in South Carolina, Markkie enlisted in the United Stated Army as a Military Policeman. While stationed in Georgia he found himself surrounded by people with the same dream, and quickly befriended the artists in the local music community.
At 21, Markkie was on the Saturday Night Mix Tape with DJ Al Irvin.

This opportunity opened doors for a local television show with two friends called "Hot Spot" on a local NBC affiliate, which is where he received his first mixing credits. After the military, Markkie returned to South Carolina and still with music in his heart he became the host of a travelling trademarked karaoke show called "Afro-oke".

With the popularity of fro-oke”, Markkie encountered many aspiring artists and was able to offer his patrons celebrity guest appearances by "Juvenile", "Prophet Jones" and many more.

Jamaican selecta Rolexx is taking his career to the next level. Rolexx has become more and more popular in Jamaica as well as internationally as a member of the Bembe Squad and since Bembe is now an international party phenomenon with regular dances also in Grand Cayman, Fort Lauderdale and Japan. Rolexx and the other top selectas who are part of the squad are sought after all over the world.

Rolexx will be leaving the island to head to Tokyo, Japan before the end of July to sign a management deal with the Japanese company MIWA. He is currently reviewing this major contract with his lawyer. MIWA also represents the new act Mccowan as well as various Japanese artistes. The company is starting to work with Jamaican talents due to the amazing popularity and success of Jamaican reggae and dancehall in Japan. Especially dancehall and street dances are very popular and Jamaican artistes, selectas as well as dancers tour Japan regularly.

There are names on some lists that surprised us here at OutAroad.com and we will be paying close attention to those artistes in the coming months.

This week in ‘Lost In The Music,’ we will be featuring Predator - ‘The War Editor’.

The slang “mad, sick, head nuh good,” raged like a wild fire throughout Jamaica, and even caught on overseas. However, as Bob Marley sang: “Yuh can fool the people sometimes, but yuh can’t fool all the people all the time, so now you see the light…” Well the world has seen the light and have stepped into it and left Predator in the dark.

At the dawn of 2000 Predator was so hot that even internationally acclaimed dancehall artiste Elephant Man and his protégé at the time Kiprich ‘borrowed’ his ideas and turned them into local hits. His songs Nah Nuh Head and Head Nuh Good stuck to the tongue of thousands and Predator looked destine to make it big.

As the international reviews of CFW 2008 hit the press, websites and silver screens around the world, the New York Times’ is among the early reports posted on the internet. Hailed by the Times as a major success, Caribbean Fashion Week is featured in ‘The Moment’, a daily review of art, fashion and design. Lifestyle writer Vivien Goldman raves and gushes at the near 50 designers including Jamaica’s Barry Moncrieffe, the UK’s Gavin Douglas, Africa’s Deola Sagoe and the American rapper/actress Eve, who showed their collections at the region’s biggest and most respected fashion extravaganza in Jamrock’s metropolitan hub earlier this month.

The world’s fashion press was definitely attuned to the ‘pulse’ of fashion and style at CFW 08 and for Goldman, it was the local and regional designers including Guadeloupe’s Denis Devaed who gave “a stunning presentation of sultry jungle satin evening gowns and crinolines” and Jamaica’s Mutamba “flowing hand-painted robes that honed rasta chic” who earned top marks in her book. The Trinidad and Tobago delegation also stole a lot of the attention: “Its two grandes dames - the minimalist Meiling and the glam couturière Claudia Pegus were awarded CFW honors for their craft and quite rightly so…The Cloth, another T&T label designed by Robert Young, also had people talking. Cinched by nifty “tush corsets,” Young’s shapely white on white layers, sparked with primary colors, segued into crimson linen frocks and a rainbow print puffball cocktail dress.”

The temperatures in Southern California are going to keep on rising. Shabba Ranks, the two time Grammy award winning Emperor of Dancehall Reggae is CONFIRMED to headline the Adamari Caribbean Sumfest at the Queen Mary Park, in Long Beach, California.

Shabba is set to light up the main stage at the hottest outdoor Reggae event in Southern California. He will be performing his classic smash hit songs 'Champion Lover", "Ting a Ling", "Mr Loverman", "Trailor Load of Girls", "Dem Bow", "Telephone Love", "Twice My Age" and lots more. Shabba will also be blessing the fans with brand new tunes that he has recently released featuring Sizzla Kalonji, Mavado, Busta Rhymes and Akon.

This is a one time chance for all Reggae music fans in Southern California to witness the Dancehall legend performing live on a giant festival stage. Please note the last time Shabba Ranks performed on a festival stage in Southern California was in 1993 at California State University in Dominguez Hills. Again this is a one time chance to see the Dancehall legend Shabba Ranks performing live in a relaxed picturesque, summer festival environment, over looking the Queen Mary and the Pacific Ocean. This is history in the making! This event must NOT be missed
