The No Mannaz Dancers are arguably one of the best dance groups in Jamaica to have burst onto the scene in the last decade. Each girl from the four-member group is blessed with her own characteristic moves that personally define her, yet they still manage to fuse together as a team and entertain wherever they go.
The vivacious dancers have cemented a place in the hearts of dancehall fans worldwide with properly choreographed moves that sizzles their audience. The No Mannaz Dancers are no other than the bubbly Toya, the animated Taneisha, dynamic Fiona and sparkling Shanice - all from Flankers, Montego Bay, Jamaica.
To their credit, the girls have created the Hot Wuk dance move, which stimulated dancehall lovers and other audiences worldwide. Their palette also comprises other dance moves, such as Cool It Dung, Tip Toe, Goodas Drift, Yeye Lash and a new dance for dancehall artiste Mr. Vegas aptly titled Whine Up.
With so much talent flowing between them, it is no wonder dancehall acts continually endorse them in their songs and also invite them to make dance moves for same.
“We got a lot of recognition from the dance move Hot Wuk. It give us our biggest buss to date. From yuh hear Hot Wuk yuh know seh a No Mannaz. We have also been endorsed by several dancehall artistes including Elephant Man inna Drop Dead, Tony Matterhorn in Dutty Wine and of course Mr. Vegas in Hot Wuk,” the girls explained.
What is No Mannaz all about?
“No Mannaz is how we dance. We don’t dance in a particular manner, it is all about the clothes we wear and how we dance. It has nothing to do with temperament. We just take it to the highest level or to the ‘lowest’, depending on how you look on it,” reasoned Fiona.
Like most hardcore Jamaican dancers, No Mannaz started their dancing career in the dancehall.
In 2004, we were just partying and a selector called Slim J say that we dance as if we have ‘no mannaz’ and from there the thing tek off. We began to put things together,” they explained with several jokes cracking in between their discussion with OutAroad.com.
The girls have not looked back since then and have now become a household name in Western Jamaica. They have dominated the dancing scene in the West and have even managed to emerge in the sometimes hostile dancehalls in Kingston.
Along with their management team, the No Mannaz Dancers are presently planning a tour of Florida, Philadelphia, New York, Orlando and Boston in the United States.
