Super conscious reggae artiste Richie Spice's latest entry on the albums chart, "Gideon Boot" has been slapped with an indefinite ban by the IRIE FM Programs Department. The ban extends not only to the material found on the album "Gideon Boot", but to all songs from his repertoire. According to IRIE FM officials, the song contained an expletive that could faintly be heard after the song had ended, and came as a surprise to Announcer Elise Kelly who was playing the song in her shift. Representatives from VP Records also expressed their shock upon hearing of the ban, and have begun taking corrective steps to rectify the situation.
The album was part of a deal with ace producer Bobby Digital, who was charged with the responsibility of selecting the final copies of the songs for the album, released on VP records label. Unofficial word from insiders is suggesting that a mistake was made on the part of the person charged with the responsibility of mastering the songs for the final album cut.
Members of Bonner Cornerstone Music-to which Richie Spice is now officially based- have expressed outrage at this mistake being made; one which has sought to cast a negative light on the otherwise positive and uplifting reggae act. Bonner Cornerstone officials have categorically stated this will not deter Richie Spice and members of Bonner Cornerstone Music from their path of spreading positive messages of love, unity and strength to persons around the world.

That don't go down too well with me. When Liquid and Wayne play song wid bad word dem get suspension so when Elise play it she fi get suspension too. Why so much compassion in the story. She should take responsibility for her action. She fi vet di song dem before she play dem. Dis nuh sound normal.Dem mek it sound like a Spice commit the offence

I heard the tune on xmradio and when spice says "b**mba cl**t at the end of tune it as an xpression of singer just voicing a wicked tune, it was the the most real part of the song and just a human reaction. I am sure thats why they left it on. These corporate hypocrites will play the most violent gun tunes by movado, or happy to play a Beenie tune telling young girls to "back it up" but they want to ban a conscious artiste for one bad word. As a white american lover of reggae People want to know why reggae died with Bob? You guys killed it when you let the sponsors dictate what and who gets played, remember "we have no friends" dont you see what YOU are letting them do to your music.

That's why mi rate Chris Goldfinger BBC Radio One show, which is bigger than Irie FM and all those other shows out there, he has the biggest audience figures compared to every other radio show, and WHY?? because he plays the music UNDILUTED, that's what the people want, it's our language and our expression, as long as it not advocating violence towards any group, and it entertaining then he plays it, Radio station like BBC can play it, so should those little Jamaican station, stop pretending as if we are so up in our arses.... Big Up all real Bumb..clr... REGGAE LOVERS who love it wid a PASSION

I think Irie Fm should have given richie spice a break, to ban one song could have been considered, but to ban the entire lisitngs. That's cruel and wrong.
It is clearly a case of victimization and a misunderstanding of ones culture, so what is a bad word and who say it bad, those are expressions of ones self, yeah it might be a little raunchy for some who clame that they are refined, but at the end of the day its a jamaican expression that was not use in a negative manner.
Set an example irie ban everything then, dont beep them out once the song have any expletives ban that, also ban artiste who rpomote violence, ban that also ban leaders who pretend they have the country's interest at heart and make careless statments in public ban that too.
Dont stop at Spice, yes he made an error can we not allow him to rise from the mistake and move on, why are we so set as jamaican people to stamp on our own. we play rap musics in our can and that's full of expletives, yes this is on the air and a quite agree to make an example, well then standardize the example and make it compliant to all.
In addition if other DJ's can be suspended then so should the host, the musics should be vet prior to playing or is a bigger picture where payola takes over................look into that

Well, I really think it's much ado about nothing. I mean, if the utterance is made way at the end of the song, so much so that Elise Kelly didn't even know that it was there, then I think they could have just gave her a warning, and advised all Djs not to play out the song. I agree that the person responsible for the final mastering, should have been more careful, but, we are all human. The whole thing is being blown out of proportion.

Look beyond the song and the "ACCIDENTAL WORD SLIPPING" the yute left 5th element and a move with his family label, Bonner corner stone, and see it deh, di fight start..
Just last week, we a blame DJ and Negetive music fi gunshot ina jamaica.. Now put yuh self ina di man shoes, dis is a yute who sing notten but cvoncious tune, so how di BUM BO CL%%!$T yuh ban a man whole reputwaah, fi one word..
Is a music industry fight, because right now dem have more pull dan di yute..

what amazes me is how irie can play all the crappy music that from start to finish wey dem haffi a bleep out! and dem can ban conscious music because of one word at the end of a song? NO man! that nuh right a r*ss!!!!! just like how dem bleep out the kartels and Mavado dem coulda do the same fi di man tune and then to ban the Artiste and not just the song is just plain f***kery!!!!!!!!!! Irie clean up unuh act! this is totally f**kery!!!!!!!!

Look yah all a wi a miss di point. Elise Kelly and Irie FM are the ones to take responsibility. Dem nuh above di law. Dem fi vet the song before it go on. Elise fi get suspension.
Or, seen that a fi har radio station di Broadcasting Commission need fi do something against it.(..we would have to lodge the complaint though, a just the process)
Wha she feel like, she fi stop di artiste from eat food. Richie Spice a one a di cleanest artiste inna di business. This is straight up victimization!
Look into the situation a wonder if Spice split with Fifth Element have any thing to do with it?
One more point, You waah tell me seh if shi accidentally put on Peter Tosh's "OH B*mbo Cl**t" inna prime time, a the producer of the dead legend a go take responsibility for the song.
Any artiste can sing any thing and give any disc jock. Deejay, station managers, programme directors are the GATEKEEPERS they need to take responsibility for what is 'aired'.
ELISE KELLY Fi GO HOME...TOO MUCH HYPOCRISY!!!!!!
She a Get Old a Need fi GUUU Home!
A suh dem love stifle youth..and when dem go pon radio dem behave holy..a devil dem... a mi fi tell yuh!
Shi too wicked but memba God nuh give we more than we caah bare!
No bother use this mail to further victimize Spice. Me nuh relate to the artiste. Me just straight up respect him.
Love

I used to love listening to Elise Kelly every morning with my children them but no more. You know what we all as good listener should do boycott Irie Fm. I lived in England for the past 20 years and I know we still have good dj like Jerry D, Winston Williams the conscious one in Kingston so change our radio dial. And I sign off with fuck irie sh*t fm
