OutAroad.com Break Out Artiste for May is no other than fast rising singing sensation Tifa. The Crawny Gal singer recently sat with OutAroad.com to give us, and her existing and potential fans a peek at what is happening with her career.
Born Latifa Brown, Tifa is a well-honed musical talent. Her active participation in various aspects of the music began from Prep School days and has since blossomed into what we know Tifa to be today. She has long graduated from singing backup to ruling the microphone with her unique ‘singjaying’ style. Under the guidance of the creative quad, Ward 21, along with Sampalue, Otis Davis, and Ai Irasawa, Tifa have been constantly putting out material that runs parallel with outstanding creativity.
Tifa’s love for what she does is evident from the moment our conversation began in an office at the Natural Bridge Studio.
“I love music. I have been involved in music all my life. I stopped doing music for a while and went to UWI (University of the West Indies), where I got my Bachelor Degree in Psychology and Human Resources Management. After school it was back to the music,” Tifa outlined.

From her palette of musical mentors, one can suddenly sense that Tifa is not about hype but strictly quality and creativity.
“I rate and respect something about every artiste, but when it comes to mentors in the business I lean towards Patra, Lady Saw, Mary J Blige and Ward 21, who just have something unique about them,” she explained.
Tifa will be heading to Europe in June for a six-week tour with Ward 21. The singer/deejay outlined to us that she is pleased with her career thus far but is far from complacent.
“I am happy, but not comfortable because there is still a lot more to do. I am able to both sing and deejay quite well, and I want more people to hear me. I want to be like the Jamaican version of Madonna, or even surpass her achievements,” a smiling but sincere Tifa outlined.
Tifa currently have some hard-hitting songs such as Bottom of the Barrel, Mi Man Love Mi, Crawny Gal, Tinky Winky, Dem Nuh Ready, Johnny. Her debut album, entitled “Sex, Love & Lies” will have a Japan/European release, hopefully this summer.
