The fusion of three beautiful, talented young ladies could only produce one thing - quality. MBC (Make Boyz Cry) is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the music arena. Working under the guidance of veteran producer and manager, Computer Paul, the trio has morphed into a musical force that moves beyond being simply ordinary.
MBC comprises Foxy, Diamond and Miss Chin. When they come together to sing one can expect to hear soothing rhythms, nicely blended harmony and melodies that run parallel with the beating of one’s heart. The quality of their work manifests itself in the type of material they produce.
Their latest single, Hustling Lives, is already creating a stir. The song not only possesses great lyrical content, but also some smooth melody and the delivery is priceless. “I hope that MBC will be the equivalent of a Destiny’s Child representative in Jamaica,” the girls outlined in our interview. However, from what we have heard from them thus far, their limit is boundless.
Busted, is yet another single that speaks volume of where these young ladies can reach by expressing themselves through music that almost anyone can relate to. “We are not hearing songs that children can relate to. MBC do songs that can be related to by different persons across the board,” outlined Foxy, who was valiantly supported by Diamond, while a shy looking Miss Chin just smile.
“There is a lot of work involved in terms of getting quality material together. Sexism is there also because lot of producers look at the body first and probably the talent later,” MBC explained after being quizzed about challenges faced. They continued: “We have our ups and downs, which is even evident with blood related family. Like all young artistes we go through the struggle to get airplay.”
The harmonic trio that has been working together for five years is hoping to start a trend with groups in Jamaica. They aspire to be role models and an inspiration to young girls growing up. They were also frank on the issue that they were not only doing music for fun, but also for monetary gains - lots of it.
MBC works with Boot Camp Records with C.E.O. Computer Paul, who is also the mastermind behind the conceptualizing and grooming of this sensational group. MBC has also inked a recording deal with Toshiba/EMI in Japan.
Their slew of latest singles includes Hustling Lives, Busted and Hot Lava Sex on the Hypocrites Rhythm, Real Badman on Swash Label, and Give It To You, a trendy collaboration with Ward 21. From their palette, one could tell that they were not afraid to cross boundaries.
“We tackle a little of everything, we consider ourselves versatile,” explained Foxy with a piercing stare, the ever supportive Diamond baking her up, while Miss Chin’s smile soothes the atmosphere.
