In a statement sent to OutAroad.com former GLK Entertainment Group partner Rodrick Reid, vehemently denied allegations that have been widespread in the media about him molesting a boy he was supervising.
Reid, who was a probation officer at the time of the alleged incident, was suspended from duty pending the outcome of the investigations. He was arrested and charged last Tuesday by detectives from the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) in Kingston (Jamaica).
After making his court appearance on Friday, Reid sent out a statement to several media interests and individuals stating the ‘innocent until proven guilty’ stance he should receive. We will give you, our readers, a peep at sections of Reid’s statement
Here Goes:
“Based on the advice of my attorneys-at-law, there is very little I can say concerning this matter before the Court. I AM INNOCENT OF THE CHARGES and in Jamaica, I should enjoy the PRESUMTION of being INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN guilty. The matter is before a court of law and not a court of public opinion. In this regard, legal tests and principles will be applied to determine truth and accuracy. Therefore, I call for patience and good sense to prevail while the Court makes a determination in the matter.”
“Unless or until the Court hands down a guilty verdict, all that is being said in the papers and on websites remains unproven reports. I want everyone to bear this in mind and do not assume that mere publication makes a story true. This matter will not be resolved in the court of public opinion but in a Court of law, therefore, I am confident that justice will not only be done but APPEAR to be done.”
Last week a website carried a story in which Gyete Ghartey, who is a partner of the GLK Entertainment Group, moved to distance himself and the entity away from Rodrick Reid. Ghartey was quoted saying: “For some time, he (Rodrick Reid) has not been actively involved in the promotion of that show (Mello Vibes). He had resigned from the GLK Entertainment group because of 'creative differences'. The promoters of GLK promoters, in no shape or form condone any act between anyone of the same sex, and condemn categorically any act of molestation and exploitation of children."
Reid, who is facing charges of indecent assault, gross indecency and administering alcohol with intent to commit an indictable offence, was partly responsible for promoting parties such as Yesterday, Mello Vibes, and 11:59.

Well, theoretically he is innocent until proven guilty, but as they say "if it no go so it near fi go so".
But how does one ever bounce back from allegations like these? Once ur labelled as a g*y, whether true or false, thats it, u scar fi life!
Hopefully justice will prevail.

Apart from him being gay he is a horrible person that believes he is above the law.The situation truly highlights what is done in the dark must come to light. I knew one day that Rodrick would get what was coming to him, dats why I know god sees all and will deal with things in his own time. People this man is guilty of all charges do not let him trick you, he is a child molester.

The person who call dem self yesdemgay, seems to have a personal vendetta against Mr. Reid. Me, myself don't like nothing that is associated with fish, but as the man say, public opinion does not count is only the magistrate count inna dem case ya. So if it is u him molest deal wid him urself and stop call for someone else to do ur dirty work.

The fact that an allegation has been made against a person does not mean that he is guilty. whether or not a person is guilty or innocent should be judged in a court of law. Too often the Jamaican public has been quick to convict a person on hear-say and not on proven facts or evidence.A charge of sexual molestation to be legally correct buggery(sodomy)is very serious and could ruin a person entire life. For that reason a person alleged to have committed such an offence should be allowed to prove his/her innocence and until then the Jamaican public should try not to convict him. No, i am not related to the accused in fact i don't even know him, but as a law student,it is important for a person not be convicted by the public without due process of the law.

I know this has gone a long time now but I really find it upsetting that because someone has fallen or someone is down we kick him, look at how many of you lie everyday, look at how many of you steal money,look at how many big men touch little girls,look at how many of you fornicate, what are you so self righteous that it is different.
