Stepping out of the dark and into the lime light of the entertainment business there's not much more that can be said about the Rainbow Castle managed artist Shines. As obvious and as clear as his name describes his talent Shines would be the first to tell you its more than just a name.
"Well I believe I was born with the gift of singing and yes I have a true passion for what I do, right through school I did the concerts and shows, that really helped me develop my overall sound and understanding of keys and melody". Shines who now resides in Jamaica is as versatile as they come - boasting a catalog which transcends our local genres of Reggae & Dancehall with the other 50 % of his style coming from his soulful R&B sound and his vocal training technique which he practices around Opera.
Shines who has been making a name for himself both locally and internationally is highly motivated, he's not only a great sounding vocalist but also bears a mounting schedule as a aspiring video director on the local circuit. Currently in studios working on his upcoming album shines gave OutAroad.com the 411 on his plans for 2008.

"Well right now I'm promoting my single "Dance With Me" which features one of the Fourth Street Sisters, Althea and that single was produced by Dwight Pitney. I also have another single produced by Dwight and that one is about love but we really looking to do a video for "Dance With Me". Most importantly though is the album - right now I'm working aggressively on the promotional side of my music. We know things are going to explode into something big because people have been hearing the music and little by little it has been building to the point where they now want that big bang to push me to the forefront".
Among the esteemed list of persons who are helping with preparations for the solo effort are producer Dean Frazer and veteran musician Mickey Bennett with a number of guest collaborations from people like Aisha Davis of Natural Bridge Records and the Portmore Empire general Vybz Kartel. The album is slated to have 14 tracks and as Shines explains it will be used to negotiate a distribution deal.
"Right now we're looking towards having VP Records on board, that would be good but at the same time we're still planning to shop the project in other directions. Hopefully the album will be ready in time to compliment the first video release".
Still untitled the album will no doubt land Shines a bit closer to the mainstreams doors where with hard work he can someday perform on stage with his long time music idol Beres Hammond.
