GT Taylor
IRIE FM radio personality GT Taylor is well known for his work on radio and his undying commitment to promoting music events. Over the past eight years, he has worked very hard to create a first class Christmas event for the parish of St. Elizabeth, where he was born and raised. Despite the many obstacles he faced in his endeavors, the very resilient and creative radio DJ along with his dedicated team stuck to the plan and has seen this event which started as a dance, grow into being a much anticipated calendar event. The event which started out eight years ago as GT Taylor's Christmas Extravaganza, is now officially known as Magnum GT Taylor Reggae Christmas Extravaganza and is staged annually on the 25th of December at Independence Park in Black River.
GT Taylor is very passionate about his parish as he puts it "I love my parish endlessly, I would never leave it to live anywhere else, I'm very proud to be from St. Elizabeth". Therefore his efforts to give back to his parish comes as no surprise. Over the years after the staging of the event, he has made donations to several institutions in the parish. He is also the PR officer for the St. Elizabeth Care Committee. The committee is based in Black river and comprises of several members of the community all professionals or business people. It was started by former Mayor of Black River Daphne Holmes, after the much publicized street people incident a few years ago. Miss Joyce Francis is the current president of the committee

The main aim of the Care Committee is to better the lives of street people in around the parish of St. Elizabeth. Every Tuesday the committee's bus goes around the parish and pick up street people and take them to the grounds of the Black River Parish Council, where doctors and nurses volunteer their services to given them check ups and medical treatment. Each of them is given a bathe and a hot meal, they also get their clothes washed. The committee also gives them clothing items and food. The committee is aided in its efforts by Courts Jamaica Ltd, Food For Poor, Gabby's Restaurant and several local supermarkets.
GT Taylor says that committee is appealing to the public to help by donating clothing items and foot wear. He says he has also been appealing to the public via his radio show "In The Dancehall"on IRIE FM and has received lots of help from the public. "I am very thankful for the support that I have received". He stated. He says a branch of the Care Committee will be launched in Junction, St. Elizabeth next year and he will be personally donating a freezer to the branch and there will be several drop boxes at the venue of his show this year, so that patrons can donate clothing items and shoes.
