Over forty million viewers worldwide including Jamaicans had their eyes glued to their televisions sets last Sunday night for the staging of the 35th American Music Awards which featured dancehall top mega superstar Beenie Man, Junior 'One Blood' Reid and Chaka Demus & Pliers.
The high point of the night, however, from a Jamaican perspective was definitely when Beenie Man hit the stage singing 'Who Am I' to a huge roar as he joined Alicia Keys.
Prior to Beenie Man's performance Junior 'One Blood' Reid and Chaka Demus also got a huge welcome from the fans on hand.
Despite his many ordeals, Beenie Man consistently remains one of Jamaica's most beloved dancehall acts who can be called upon to perform on any stage worldwide as he knows how to connect with the audience.

Beenieman, I am your fan for life. When I say you walking the red carpet joining the great Alicia Keys on stage at the American Music Award, my head swell as big as the world; goose pimples all over me. Love & respect; you large Beenie; despite all your problems your performance was more than excellent; you are the true King of the Dancehall and no-one can take that away from you. To me, that moment was the highlight of the night when you, Shakademus & Plyers came on stage. You all did an outstanding job and the American crowd love you all. One love my Jamaican brothers".
