T.I., the rapper known for his rapid-fire lyrics, was denied bail on Monday on charges he was stockpiling rapid-fire guns.
The self-proclaimed "King of the South" will remain jailed in Atlanta until at least Friday, when his attorney will get another chance to request bail.
Federal prosecutors want to keep T.I., born Clifford Harris, behind bars until he goes to trial, which could be months from now. The 27-year-old Grammy winner appeared in Atlanta Federal Court in handcuffs and leg chains. He nodded to relatives and friends in the packed courtroom, but made no comments.
T.I., also known as Tip, was arraigned on felony charges of possessing unregistered machine guns and being a convicted felon in possession of firearms.
The entertainer, whose hit song "Hurt" features Brooklyn rapper Busta Rhymes, was busted Friday after he allegedly sent his bodyguard to buy machine guns and silencers from a federal undercover agent posing as a weapons dealer.
