Curefest kicked off with a bang last night Friday October 12th at the Starfish Resort in Trelawny with its first show Reflections. Reflections was the first of three shows to be held in Western Jamaica in the Curefest series. The show was to celebrate the October 11th birthday of Jah Cure. The party had an intimate setting where fans and media were able to mingle with Jah Cure and family and also got the opportunity to get their pictures taken with him.
The live entertainment commenced with Live Wyaa who did a rendition of popular reggae and dancehall hits interspersed with melodious reggae jamming instrumentals. Etana then took the stage and gave a set which would rival any international reggae superstar. After her performance, Etana returned to the stage to sing happy birthday to Jah Cure before he cut the large birthday cake with his mother Pansetta Campbell.

It was at this time that Jah Cure succumbed to the pleas of the crowd and began singing Longing For along backed by the audience. It was an emotional performance filled with gratitude. Jah Cure was then joined on stage by Prodigal Son who sang the Last Verse of Longing For with him. Prodigal then did a full set belting out some of his more popular hits .
The show was closed off with the sweet sound of Karen Smith who did not disappoint. She sang some of her most popular songs and some familiar covers.
Reflections was a success and the patrons left feeling content. Tonight October 13th will be the 45 Cures show to be held at Pier 1 in Montego Bay, which will feature a DJ Spin Off between top radio and sound System DJs. The final show will be at the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium on Sunday October 14th and is dubbed the Longing For Concert. It will feature Jamaica's best reggae and dancehall artists and the man himself, Jah Cure.

wow, regardless of how u feel bout Cure, he is a convicted rapist that is pretty unapologetic about his crime. To see an artiste like Etana known for being a a strong independent woman, kissing up to the felon, shows how artistes are willing to compromise their standards for a picture in the paper.

Jah Cure party was certainly not a hit....intimate setting is a nice way of saying the venue was no where near packed! Besides those who performed no names were there.I am a big CURE fan and traveled to JA for the first time to attend all three events and his demeanor seems out of touch with his music...just my opinion. He should have taken more pics and signed more autographs. Same thing occurred at the end of Longing For...No encore and he fled the stage with management not stopping to mingle with the hundreds of people backstage who paid $150 to be there. Every other artist billed did just that after performing.

I'm not a fan of his. he sings good music but he is also a big fraud.and for me to even start appreciating him as an artiste, he needs to appologise to the women of this country. he owes us that much.

I flew to JA for the concert as well. I met and spoke to Jah Cure at 45 Cure where he came right over and hung out with us for a minute. He also stayed at the same hotel as our group and we met him there again and he was very humble and grateful that we were there.
I was also one of the ones that paid the $150 but after he performed I just wanted to get out of there because I was tired so it doesn't matter that he didn't mingle. I am not Jamaican but I have to give him and a lot of the other artists a lot of credit for being willing to mingle. No other international performers ever mingle with their fans. Disappointingly Sizzla was backstage with about 20 guys surrounding him. I am starting to lose respect for him and he was my all time favorite.

I was vacationing at the Starfish Trelawny and had the opportunity to meet Jah Cure. He willingly took time to meet and greet fans and the music that evening was amazing. Respect from your newest Canadian fan.

I was there for all 3 events. I spent a little time with him at the birthday party on Friday. I'm very glad it wasn't too crowded. I took many pictures with him. He mingled with everyone who approached him. He took pictures and sang songs that were requested. He showed much love for his fans and expressed it that evening. As far as his past actions or whathaveyou, he's done his time and his forgiveness is up to God and no one else.
