Empress Etana on the move

etana-reggaegirlbeautifulgirls.jpgIn recent years there has been an increased inception of young female talent in the industry and with them came a fresh and candid approach to both dancehall and reggae music. There was Tami Chin and Brick N Lace, Alaine and Kris Kelli, Tesanne and now the 'rootsy' rebel for a cause empress Etana has risen in 2007 to take charge and prove herself as a credible reggae singer.

After gaining enormous exposure from her “Wrong Address” single in spring 2006 Etana has broadened her fan base with tracks like Warrior Love and the “cant water down or dilute” beautifully written Roots. Representing strong vocal presence and a never ending passion for live performances Etana has been on every major show locally since the beginning of the summer season. Not only has she been in demand locally but promoters from as far as Africa have been booking her to belt her signature notes.

Recently making her first appearance at New York’s prestigious Reggae Show Irie Jamboree in early September Etana received a warm welcome and rave review from foreign press. Presently under management at Solid Agency it is rumored she is being courted by VP Records ahead of her still unreleased debut Album. Etana who is a fountain of joy defines realness, she has been featured on Morning Programs like Smile Jamaica, Interview by esteemed journalist like Anthony Miller (Rising Star Judge) & Winford Williams (On Stage Host), done editorial Q&A with the All Women weekly print publication and is even featured in the entertainment industries best pick VIBE Magazine.

Now approaching another of the busy seasons of entertainment Etana is all booked for the Christmas with first time appearances at Curefest which is the celebration of reggae singer Jah Cure’s musical journey (Oct 12-14th), Sting which is the most anticipated event of the year (Dec 26th), and a still to be announced performance at a Dec 23rd event. Etana is also slated to make a charity donation to a Children’s Home in Kingston during the month of November.
